Places to see in ( Bebington - UK )
Bebington is a small town and electoral ward within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, in Merseyside, England. Historically part of Cheshire, it lies 5 miles south of Liverpool, close to the River Mersey on the eastern side of the Wirral Peninsula. Nearby towns include Birkenhead and Wallasey to the north-northwest, and Heswall to the west-southwest. Bebington railway station opened in 1838 and is situated on the Wirral Line of the Merseyrail network.
The electoral ward, which includes the original village centres of Higher Bebington and Lower Bebington, had a total resident population of 13,720 at the 2001 Census. increased to 15,768 at the 2011 Census. Some definitions of Bebington include adjoining areas such as Port Sunlight (an early planned factory town), New Ferry, Spital and Storeton. The former municipal borough of Bebington, a local authority between 1937 and 1974, also included within its boundaries Bromborough, Eastham, Raby, Thornton Hough and Brimstage, which now fall within the electoral wards of Bromborough, Eastham and Clatterbridge.
According to a 2015 study commissioned by Royal Mail from the Centre for Economic and Business Research, Bebington's postcode area, CH63, is the most desirable in England in which to live and work. The study found that the area had the ideal balance of housing close to places of work, good schools and high employment.
The name Bebington is derived from the Anglo-Saxon meaning the Village of Bebba, probably a Saxon chief or landowner. In 1801, Bebington was a small country hamlet with a population of only 273, situated on the main road connecting Chester and Birkenhead, and then via ferry to Liverpool. Up to 30 horse-drawn coaches would pass by each day. Stone quarried at Bebington was used for the construction of Birkenhead Town Hall, some of the villas around Birkenhead and Rock Parks and most famously of all the Empire State Building in New York City.
Bebington is on the eastern side of the Wirral Peninsula, approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) south-south-east of the Irish Sea at New Brighton, about 7.5 km (4.7 mi) east-north-east of the Dee Estuary at Gayton and less than 2 km (1.2 mi) west-north-west of the River Mersey at New Ferry. The area is situated at an elevation of between 20–60 m (66–197 ft) above sea level.

The Top built before the bottom.!!!!! Strange
This Liverpool pub had the top built before the bottom !!! How strange is that?
In reality, the building was refurbished/rebuilt. The Pub is the central hotel in Ranelagh street, Liverpool.
It looks weird when you notice it, but it does have an obvious explanation.

Sim0nTrains | Rocking further on the Merseyrail Network | Railway Journey
VIDEO DESCRIPTON
Starting at Spital, Sim0nTrains carries on his Railway Journey as he heads the Merseyrail Network visiting some more Merseyrail Stations. After a good look around at Spital, Sim0nTrains catches the 1334 service to Port Sunlight which the Railway Station platforms were okay but the station building and the village was splendid to look at. It was Sim0nTrains's first time at this amazing area of the Merseyrail network. After Port Sunlight, Sim0nTrains travelled on the 1435 to Bebington and take a look around this Railway Station and film some more Merseyrail EMUs, the Class 507s and Class 508s but it was starting to get busy with school children using the train to get home. After Bebington, it's rocking to the final station! Rock Ferry which Sim0nTrains rocked on as he filmed at this last Railway Station.
After Rock Ferry, Sim0nTrains travelled to Liverpool Lime Street to catch the 1701 West Midlands Railway service to Birmingham New Street but got off at Stafford Station so Sim0nTrains could get a bite to eat before catching the 1903 to Rugeley Trent Valley and to finish off on the 1918 to Rugeley Town, all these workings were worked by London Northwestern Railway Class 350 Desiros.

Port Sunlight The Village Built on Soap in September
Suitable for children and family viewing Port Sunlight is a perfect day out. A beautiful place to visit in the Wirral not far from Chester.
The village was founded by ‘Soap King’ William Hesketh Lever in 1888. The village was built to house Lever’s ‘Sunlight Soap’ factory workers, but today is home to a fascinating museum, and beautiful architecture and a very nice café.
Port Sunlight Village was declared a conservation area in 1978. It contains over 900 Grade II listed buildings in 130 acres of parkland and gardens. Port Sunlight Village Trust, a charity, is responsible for preserving and promoting the village. Set up by Unilever in 1999, the trust works with Port Sunlight’s residents of the village for all who live, visit and work there.
There is a Museum that tells the story of William Lever and his vision in creating the village for workers at his Sunlight Soap factory. The Lady Lever Art Gallery was built by Lord Lever and formally opened on 16 December 1922 by Princess Beatrice, youngest daughter of Queen Victoria. It is world-class with a wonderful collection and has to be visited to appreciate the huge variety of its contents.

A Beatles tour of 47 locations in Liverpool and Wirral in photos and videoclips
+++ In May 2021 AVZINE was rebranded to AidanEyewitness +++
This video feature is a Beatles tour across Liverpool and Wirral, visiting 47 locations connected with the Beatles in their early years. We start at Liverpool Airport where there is a statue of John Lennon. Then we visit Penny Lane and Strawberry Field before continuing via the Welsh Streets, birthplace of Ringo Starr and Arnold Grove, where George Harrison was born to the city centre. We look at many plaques, blue and in other colours as well, some with photos of the Beatles on them. We see statues of the Beatles, on the Pier Head and on the Hard Day's Night hotel.
We cross the Mersey to see some of the locations associated with them there. The Tower Ballroom and New Brighton Pier are sadly gone. We learn also about the sad fate of the MV Royal Iris. The Beatles played on the Royal Iris, along with Gerry and the Pacemakers and Liverpool bands. We visit the Majestic Ballroom Birkenhead and Port Sunlight before returning across the Mersey to visit Mathew Street.
Special thanks to the people at the Victoria Hall, Higher Bebington for allowing me to use two photographs from their website Credit: Photo: Courtesy of the Trustees of Victoria Hall Community Trust Ltd.
We make a special trip to the Casbah Coffee Club before returning to tick off the Beatles Story, the Peace Monument and the homes of Paul and John. It's a journey within a city. The AVZINE channel is concerned with cities and journeys. I hope to upload a feature on the Beatles in Hamburg soon.
