Melaka City is the capital of the coastal state of Melaka, In southwestern Malaysia
Melaka or also often spelled as Malacca, is one of Malaysia’s most important centers of history. Melaka has been an important trading hub due to its location along the spice route. Due to this attractive location, many traders from India, China, Portugal, Netherlands and Arabia came to this port to buy and sell their goods. The traces of all these peoples can be found up to today and thus, it does not surprise one by seeing temples, churches and mosques in the same street. Today, Melaka is one of the most visited towns in Malaysia, by locals, Singaporean and Chinese tourists. The great attractivity of Melaka arises from its many historical buildings, street markets and Peranakan culture. The latter form a unique ethnic group, as they are the descendants of Chinese traders, who intermarried with Malay women. Therefore, visiting some of their museums, as well as trying their cuisine is highly recommended. In the list below you find some of my suggested places that I did not show in the video:
- Melaka Sultanate Palace
- Kampung Hulu Mosque
- Sababa Gallery (Selfie Museum)
- St Francis Xavier Church
- Taming Sari Tower
- Cheng He Museum
- Masjid Cina Melaka

Melaka | Dim Sum 点心 | Kedai Makanan & Minuman GW in Batu Berendam
Kedai Makanan & Minuman GW
Location: Taman Melaka Baru, Batu Berendam, Melaka
This one here is a local DimSum place mainly visited by locals. They serve variety of DimSum, Pao, CheeCheongFun, LohMaiKai, etc.
The chili used in DimSum restaurants in Melaka is slightly different from Kuala Lumpur. Here, mostly do not use Kg Koh's Garlic Chili Sauce but instead have their own made sauce which is less sweet & more spicy.
1. Various DimSum , Score: 8/10
The DimSum are nice. Soft and freshly made. Many types available from steamed to fried.
2. LohMaiKai (Chicken with Glutinous Rice), Score: 8/10
So far the best LohMaiKai we have tried. A must-try.
3. Pao, Score: 8/10
The Pao also are so far the best we have tried. The skin of the Pao is thin, so when you try to peel off the outer layer, it breaks. For me, I just eat it as it is. The fillings inside are cooked with Ginger which I accentuates the taste of the meat inside.
4. CheeCheongFun, Score: 7.5/10
HongKong-style CheeCheongFun with prawns & CharSiu wrapped inside. The sauce is umami, CheeCheongFun soft & fluffy.
5. Fried Radish/Turnip Cake, Score: 8/10
Quite nice, especially if you order extra spicy. The Radish Cake is firm and the Melaka-style Radish Cake is still the best compare to Kuala Lumpur's version. Must-try if you visit Melaka.
Environment cozy. Looks like a typical Chinese coffee shop but they have a very wide space.
Service is good. Food is served within 10 minutes.
The price is reasonable.

Malacca Melaka - Historical City Tour | Swiss Garden Hotel Review
🙋♂️Welcome to Honest Hotels!
The historical City of Malacca Is located approx. 2 hrs drive from the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. It is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural and heritage significance. Previously conquered by The British, Portuguese and Dutch, you will find various remnants of the colinizations throughout Malacca.
We begin our journey by visiting Huang Chang Restaurant for their local favorite chicken rice ball. This spot is usually a go to place for malaccans for their authentic taste and reasonable price.
After filling up our stomach, we proceed to check in at Swiss Garden Melaka Hotel. Located adjacent to The Shore Shopping Mall, It recently got awarded as a 5 stars hotel. We are staying at a Deluxe Twin room.
We then head up to the 30th floor at the Sky Garden to admire the rooftop view while having an Afternoon Tea Set experience to wind down. Swiss Garden Melaka has 3 massive pools with water slides and features. The gym is located above the pools with a 360 degree view. There is also a half tennis and basketball court.
For dinner, we decided to take a 5 mins walk to Capitol Seafood. Be sure to get there early as it is a popular eatery among locals and tourists. Finish off the night taking a scroll and visiting watering holes along the Malacca River.
The Morning breakfast is a treat and an adventure for the taste buds. Selections from international and local cuisines will get you starting the day with enthusiasm. The Garden Terrance is located at Level 3A.
What better way to explore the city than through its river channels, specially when the jetty for the river cruise is just a kilometer near from our accommodation. You will get to see the many sides of Malacca.
We end this episode by visiting the famous Jonker Street basking on culture and colonial architecture. The main purpose though is to visit Mods Cafe for their locally roasted coffee and cool down with Cendol Gula Melaka.
