Samar Island Natural Park Tour
Experience an enchanting tour of the Philippines’ largest terrestrial protected area through this immersive video of the Samar Island Natural Park. Amid the vast, tree-blanketed landscape are soothing waterfalls, expansive rivers, and caves, including the Langun-Gobingob System, the largest cave system in the country.
Samar Island, which spreads over the three provinces of Easter Samar, Northern Samar, and Samar, is highlighted in the Year of the Protected Areas (YoPA) campaign that encourages sustainable ecotourism activities to help conserve the Philippines’ protected areas.
YoPA is a campaign of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) of UNDP Philippines.
SOHOTON CAVES AND NATURAL BRIDGE, Basey, Samar, Philippines
Another popular tourist destination in Samar Island Natural Park (the largest contiguous tract of old-growth forest in the Philippines covering the three (3) Samar provinces) is the Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge. BEAUTIFUL BASEY, SAMAR | PHILIPPINES Southeast Asia Travel Vlog
Basey is a 1st class municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. Its area is approximately 53,300 hectares, comprised of coastal and inland plains, hills, mountains and rivers.
The people of Basey are primarily engaged in farming and agriculture, fishing, local commerce, education and cottage industries (notably, mat-weaving more locally known as banig). Tourism is also a viable source of revenue for the town. Among its remarkable places of interest are the Sohoton Natural Bridge National Park, century-old St. Michael the Archangel Church, and the Golden River.
All photos and video footages were taken during a visit on December 2018.

My hometown is a 1st class municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 55,480 people. On 8 November 2013, Basey was one of the places heavily devastated by Super Typhoon Haiyan, leaving more than 200 people dead. Basey is famous for its beautiful Sohoton Caves, whose inner chamber features stalactites, stalagmites, and an underground river. The town is also known for artistically woven decorative mats called Banig.

Cave Climbing in #SaobCave of Basey, #Samar #philippines Tourism
This was a random stop after our trip to Sulangan Church of Guian. The cave is kept natural, nothing is change just to make it touristy.
Inside/under the cave is a cool escape from the humidity and heat outside.
The women here are weaving sleeping mats. They create beautiful purses, table mats and slippers too.
There are tourist guides in the cave. It is not big to explore but it was fun to discover/notice something on our way home.
The entrance fee is not a lot.

ROAD TOUR (My hometown Basey) 🇵🇭
Experience a rustic rural life characterized by simple homes and lots of verdant scenery in the southwestern part of Samar. It is not cosmopolitan, but in every respect, it has all the scenic and cultural variety you would expect from a town. That is Basey, a first-class municipality with a population of 56,685 people based on 2020 Census. Basey is a coastal town about 28 kilometers away from Tacloban City which could be reached by a 45-minute land trip passing through the picturesque San Juanico bridge. It is bounded by the town of Sta. Rita and Villareal in the north, Borongan and Marabut in the east, Tacloban City in the west and San Pedro Bay in the south.
