The Abbasid dynasty governed the princely state of Bahawalpur for two centuries, with more than half of its rule spent as a protectorate under the British Raj. Originating in the mid-18th century due to the diminishing influence of the Mughal Empire, Bahawalpur was one among over 500 semi-autonomous states and fiefdoms that arose across the subcontinent. Among these, 70 princely states were prominent, earning their rulers the title of Highness. Spanning an area of 45,911 square kilometers near the confluence of the Sutlej and Chenab rivers, Bahawalpur held a significant place in the region's history.
Named after its first Nawab, Mohamad Bahawal Khan II, the state remained under the rule of eight successive generations before its integration into Pakistan in October 1955. Today, Bahawalpur stands as the 12th largest city in Pakistan, renowned for its association with the Rohi-Cholistan desert.

For over two centuries, Bahawalpur was under the rule of the Abbasi family, who significantly contributed to the region's development. Their legacy includes the creation of magnificent palaces, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and architectural brilliance.
One such remarkable structure situated in Bahawalpur City is the Darbar Mahal. Built in 1904 by Nawab Bahawal Khan-V, originally named Bahawal Garh, the palace was completed in 1905 and dedicated to one of the Nawab's wives.
Constructed primarily from red brick, the Darbar Mahal mirrors the architectural style of Lahore Fort. It features four domes interconnected by short corridors. The palace displays an exquisite blend of red and white; with white dominating the roofline and windows, while the external walls are adorned in red.
Initially serving as the Regional Court of Bahawalpur State, this palace was utilized by Nawab Abbas Abbasi. In recent decades, it has functioned as an army office. To visit this regal palace, visitors must obtain prior permission from the Pakistan Army.

Places to visit in Bahawalpur in One Day | City of Nawabs | Noor Mahal | Pakistan
Recently I explored Bahawalpur in one day and visited some famous places such as Jamia Masjid, Old Bazaar and Noor Mahal. This Mahal is one of the Majestic Places of Pakistan similar to Faiz Mahal mainly structure . It takes you to the Royal era of Nawabs. Prince Sadiq was the last ruler of Bahawalpur.
Before entrance you need to show your Identity Card and for foreigners, they have to provide their passport. There is a ticket price of 75 Pkr which you need to pay before entrance.
If we talk about history then i couldn't find so much details on the walls as everything was mentioned related to military and Army efforts rather than focusing on history.
A good place for photography and bridal shoots.
