BAGAN E-BIKE TOUR - Museum, Temples, & Pagodas

TIMESTAMPS: 1:51 Renting an E-Bike; 3:28 Roadside Chat; 6:51 Arrival at Bagan Archaeological Museum; 8:18 Entrance Hall of the Bagan Archaeological Museum; 12:07 1st Display Room at Museum; 16:44 Discussion of Bagan as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; 20:28 Display of Stone Tablets from Pagodas; 27:02 Display of Paintings & Statues; 29:19 Museum Conclusion; 33:44 Gawdawpalin Temple; 42:01 Thatbyinnyu Temple; 46:25 Ananada Temple; 54:18 Conclusion and Pondering the Day

The Bagan Archaelogical Zone has over 2,200 religious structures to explore. Where to start? I decided to start with a visit to the Bagan Archaelogical Museum. And from there, I visited three of the most famous temples and pagodas in Bagan. And it was all by e-bike, of course.

Cheers,

SILENT SPEED - Renting An E-Bike in Bagan

TIME STAMPS: 2:33 Picking Up My E-bike; 4:15 Getting Ready to Ride; 9:17 Taking Off With GoPro Mounted; 12:24 On the Main Road; 18:14 Tharabar Gate and Turning Onto a Dirt Road; 20:46 At the Shore of the Irrawaddy River; 22:20 Shoreline Stop #2 - Boat Repair; 28:01 Quick Look at Mahabodhi Temple; 30:09 Buying My Ticket for the Archaeological Zone; 33:34 Downtown Nyaung U; 34:39 Jetty for Boats to Mandalay; 36:30 Conclusion and Returning E-Bike

In the old days, you made your way around the temples and pagodas of Bagan by bicycle, by horse-drawn cart, or by private car. Nowadays, however, a new option has appeared with a vengeance: e-bikes. E-bike rental operations are everywhere in Bagan, and chances are that your hotel can rent you an e-bike or there will be an e-bike rental company right across the road.

I'd never ridden on an e-bike scooter before, and, to be honest, when I planned my trip to Bagan I was looking forward to the fun of riding an e-bike just as much as seeing the famous pagodas and temples. Had I done a bike tour through Myanmar, I would have happily ridden my bicycle to the pagodas (despite the heat and the dust), but failing that, the e-bike was a fantastic option. My experience of Bagan would have been quite different without it.

Cheers,

Douglas (AKA The Cycling Canadian)

Temples of Bagan & Lunch in Nyaung U Village Myanmar Video Travel Vlog

The main Bagan area of Myanmar (Burma) is made up of three locations these days, Old Bagan which as the largest concentration of temples but no-one lives, New Bagan which is where most of the larger and more expensive hotels are based, and where most foreigners will stay when they visit the Bagan temples, and last but not least Nyaung U village which is a small village which has cheaper places to stay and eat, and is just as close to the temples as New Bagan.

You can get around the area very easily either by renting an electric scooter, a bike or bicycle, and there are also horse and carts which will take you between the three locations.

I rented a bike on this occasion, and after spending some time exploring some of the Bagan temples I head in to the village Nyang U to find some lunch. Back out to the temples for sunset, always an amazing time to see the temples of Bagan, sunset and also sunrise. If you are here for a couple of nights then maybe go to one of the popular spots for sunset the first night, but on the second night find your own little sunset location.

I hope you are enjoying this Myanmar Travel Video series, I have had a wonderful time so far in Myanmar,

Great food at Penang's wet market! Caunter Hall (Taman Free School) & Batu Lanchang CKT & Thai Food!

Best food recommendations for Penang!
Google Maps Link:
1. Kuanta Hall Taman Free School Market:
2. Batu Lanchang Market:

Wet markets are a great place to find good food at great prices in Penang. Today we went to 2 pasar in Penang, Taman Free School and Batu Lanchang. The former is opened in the mornings, while the latter usually gets busy around lunchtime.
People usually would do their marketing and then stop for a quick breakfast or lunch before going home so many of these hawkers have been open for many years. The good thing is many recipes have remained the same and serve the same good food from decades ago.
We had char koay teow, wan than mee, ban chang kuih and even packed some Thai style economy rice dishes home for lunch, at these two locations!
