Valtice (Czech Republic) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Valtice in Czech Republic.
Valtice is situated in Southern Moravia in the Czech Republic, a cultivated landscape that surrounds the former Feldsberg. For many centuries it was also home to the dynasty of the princes of Liechtenstein. It is an historic place, full of opposites, a world of antiquity and Barbarians, Christians and Pagans. Moravia was also part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a proud and noble land. Valtice Castle has been rebuilt and enlarged many times. Prince Karl Eusebius of Liechtenstein had a particular fondness for art, architecture, alchemy and the breeding of fine horses. During his reign, Feldsberg was an important cosmopolitan centre of culture and the prince’s passion for collecting eventually resulted in a large collection of treasure. The castle would not of course be complete without an impressive park and garden thus a masterpiece of garden architecture was created. A curious observation tower in the form of a Moorish minaret is the symbol of the castle’s huge park and English garden design fully complements the floral splendour of the remarkable setting. Another romantic building is a Diana Temple which has the form of a triumphal Roman arch. The Liechtensteins reigned for almost six centuries and Valtice was their wonderful castle as well as their Garden Of Europe!

Wine Tasting in Valtice, Czech Republic
Where: Breclav and Lednice, Czech Republic
When: August 2019
As the area where we were in Czech (Breclav, Lednice, Valtice) is a really well known wine region of The Czech Republic it would have been rude not to visit the largest wine cellar they have. This is below the Valtice Palace that looks like a cross between a castle and a chateau in the town of Valtice in the South East corner of Czech.
They do various tours and I highly recommend the one we did which is basically a couple of hours down in a large cellar with 100 different wines to sample. I previously did this a few years ago and it genuinely helped me discover the type of wine I like.
More info about the cellar here:

Czech Wine - Yeah, That's a Thing!
Before we started researching the wine regions in the Czech Republic, I don’t think I had ever tasted Czech wine before. I’ve had Turkish and Hungarian wines, but never Czech wines.
This is surprising because Czech wine has a long history, dating from the Roman times. But, much of the wine production ceased during Communism. It’s only been the last two decades that the wine industry has had a bit of a renaissance. For all of these reasons, this wine research product seemed intriguing.
Wine is grown in both Bohemia (where Prague is located) and Moravia (where Brno is located). We were out to explore Moravia, basing ourselves in both Brno and Mikulov. Although Czech beer is common in Bohemia, and part of the daily ritual, in Moravia, it’s all about wine. It’s more common to drink wine, even though it is more expensive than Czech beer. It’s just part of the culture of Moravia.
It’s easy to drink Czech wine anywhere in Moravia, including Mikulov and Brno, as restaurant menus offer great selections of local wine. There are also many vinoteka, or wine bars, sprinkled around the region. And, there is the National Wine Centre in Valtice.
In Mikulov, we visited the Vinoteka Volarik, which has a roof top patio with a view over the Holy Hill of Mikulov. A perfect place to walk through some of the Moravian wines. Try one of their bottles of sparkling wine made in the traditional method. I was truly surprised with the quality.

Bike Ride in Breclav and Lednice, Czech Republic
Where: Breclav and Lednice, Czech Republic
When: August 2019
There are loads of different cycle paths and bike rides around the Breclav, Lednice, Valtice area of Czech. As we were staying in Breclav it made a great base for cycling. We were lucky enough to have bikes we could use but even as a visitor, there are places to rent and hire them from. One great place in Breclav for this is a place called Cyklosfera opposite Breclav Castle.
Lots of bicycle routes in the area can be found at:
