Camino de Santiago “The Portuguese Way” section 5: Azambuja to Morgado, Portugal.
Section 5 on the Camino de Santiago “The Portuguese Way” from Azambuja to Morgado, Portugal. Now we’re talking. This section of the Camino is more like what I was hoping for. Lots of beautiful farm lands. In this case, miles and miles of tomato farms! We also met some fellow hikers along the way and had a great time getting to know them. I’d rate this section a B overall.

Camino de Santiago “The Portuguese Way” section 10: Tomar to Cortiça, Portugal.
Section 10 on the Camino de Santiago “The Portuguese Way” from Tomar to Cortiça, Portugal. Today brought on long distances in the forest and countryside. My favorite moment was coming across a visigothic era grave located deep in the forest on a small side trail. The grave was carved into the bed rock somewhere between the 5th and 8th century C.E. I’d rate this section a A- overall.

The fairy tale city of Sintra, Portugal. The MOST magical place!
Everyone goes to Lisbon, but very few know about this unique place called Sintra. It is a small city in Sintra Mountains. The restaurants are at a very high level and with affordable prices. I was taken by surprise by all the castles and underground secret paths, the royal palaces with rich interiors, and the masonic symbols. All this beauty was situated in deep, green trees and hills.
A must-see is Pena Palace which so colorful and the views from the top are unbelievable. The architecture is a mix of a few different styles.
Then you should definitely visit the Regaleira. This complex has some of the most intricate villas and whimsical landscapes I have ever seen. And one of the most unique things there is The Initiation Well, which was used for Masonry rituals of initiation. The Regaleira is filled with underground caves and you completely lose perspective of reality.
You need at least 3 or 4 days to be able to see everything. The air and the gardens are incredible.

Day 10 - Portugal Camino
AdventuresofGregAndHelen hike the 800 km Camino De Santiago Portugues in 23 days from Lisbon Portugal to Santiago Spain, then to Fisterra and Muxia on the west coast. The Camino is the name of any of the pilgrimage routes, known as pilgrim ways, to the shrine of the apostle St. James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saint are buried. Many take up this route as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth.
Follow Greg and Helen on this incredible 23 day journey as they walk, talk, eat, and drink their way across Portugal and Spain.

DAY 1 🥾 CAMINO DE FATIMA/PORTUGUÉSE 2023 - Lisbon to Alpriate - 22.5km
Today we started the Camino Portuguése / Camino de Fatima. We are both excited and nervous.
Day 1 was a grueling day getting out of Lisbon. We got lost so many times, but met people who helped get us back on track. Excitement kept us going, thru the long industrial area, the long road walks and along the water side. We arrived at our hotel exhausted yet excited for tomorrow's walk.
