REAL LIFE Fairytale Gingerbread House (Santarella in Tyringham, MA)
J-MASS INSTAGRAM: @jmassofficial
Located in the small town of Tyringham, Massachusetts deep in the Berkshires sits a picturesque gingerbread house, straight from a fairytale--no, it's not actually made out of gingerbread. Santarella is a whimsical house that was originally built back in 1739, then later renovated to its current state in 1920 by Sir Henry Hudson Kitson, a famous sculptor who lived there up until his death in 1947. Although you can rent out the house for private events, Santarella is also a great place to stop by and take some beautiful pictures. The majestic, fairytale-like building is perfectly complimented by the natural beauty of the surrounding Berkshires. Just be careful: make sure you don't get lured inside by a witch! DID YOU KNOW? Long before Gardner was known as The Chair City it was once referred to by the name of Sniptown, while other instances noted it as Niptown. The reason for the title was because Gardner was formed by taking a nip out of the older surrounding towns of Winchendon, Ashburnham, Wesminster and Templeton.

Exploring ABANDONED Bramble Hill Mansion (Worcester, MA)
J-MASS INSTAGRAM: @jmassofficial
Join me as I explore a huge abandoned 20th century mansion once owned by an influential industrialist: Bramble Hill in Worcester, Massachusetts! Built in 1901, Bramble Hill once sat on a 115-acre property composed of several other buildings; other than the mansion itself, the property had a caretaker's house, stables, and a children's playhouse. The mansion itself, built in a Georgian Revival style, is quite large, with nine bedrooms and five bathrooms, and around 8,159 square feet of space. The mansion and its property were mostly owned by Worcester industrialist Milton P. Higgins and his family, until the estate was sold in 2001, and later abandoned in 2007. Today, the Bramble Hill estate sits decrepit and abandoned on a much smaller property in the middle of a secluded suburban neighborhood.
This was my first time exploring Bramble Hill, an abandoned spot I had known about for quite some time now. I love exploring abandoned houses and mansions, so being able to witness a 20th century mansion sitting secluded in the woods, with many furnishings still intact, was a great experience! The mansion itself is in surprisingly decent condition for an abandoned property--at least, the top two floors are--and the other buildings on the property are equally as enjoyable to explore. This was one of the most fun and fascinating urbex experiences I've had, and it really did feel like stepping back in time! As a disclaimer, however, I would NOT recommend coming here...it is a very risky location. If you guys liked this video, make sure to stay tuned for more exploration videos all across New England!

From Wikipedia:
Worcester (/ˈwʊstər/ (listen) WUUS-tər, locally [ˈwɪstə]) is a city and county seat of Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. Named after Worcester, England, the city's population was 206,518 at the 2020 census, making it the second-most populous city in New England after Boston. Worcester is approximately 40 miles (64 km) west of Boston, 50 miles (80 km) east of Springfield and 40 miles (64 km) north-northwest of Providence. Due to its location near the geographic center of Massachusetts, Worcester is known as the Heart of the Commonwealth; a heart is the official symbol of the city.
Worcester developed as an industrial city in the 19th century due to the Blackstone Canal and rail transport, producing machinery, textiles and wire. Large numbers of European immigrants made up the city's growing population. However, the city's manufacturing base waned following World War II. Long-term economic and population decline was not reversed until the 1990s, when higher education, medicine, biotechnology, and new immigrants started to make their mark. The city's population has grown by 28% since 1980, reaching a new all-time high in the 2020 census and experiencing urban renewal.
Modern Worcester is known for its diversity and large immigrant population, with significant communities of Vietnamese, Brazilians, Albanians, Puerto Ricans, Ghanaians, Dominicans, and others. Twenty-two percent of Worcester's population was born outside the United States. A center of higher education, it is home to eight separate colleges and universities, including Holy Cross, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), and Clark University. Architecturally, Worcester is notable for its large number of 19th century triple-decker houses, Victorian-era mill architecture, and lunch car diners such as Miss Worcester.
Worcester is the principal city of Central Massachusetts, and is a regional government, employment and transportation hub. Since the 1970s, and especially after the construction of Route 146 and interstates 90, 495, 190, 290, and 395, both Worcester and its surrounding towns have become increasingly integrated with Boston's suburbs. The Worcester region now marks the western periphery of the Boston-Worcester-Providence (MA-RI-NH) U.S. Census Combined Statistical Area (CSA), or Greater Boston.

Enjoy a winding scenic drive through the Ware River Conservation area. About 2-3 hours outside of Boston, the Ware River Conservation in Barre and Rutland, Massachusetts, is a series of dirt roads that wind around the Ware River, one of the primary rivers dammed to form the Quabbin Reservoir, the primary water supply for Boston, Massachusetts. The dirt roads are buried deep in the woods of central Massachusetts and showcase the Rutland Prison Grounds, a former prison used in the 1800s, and the Barre Falls Dam. The Barre Falls Dam is a outdoors playground offering scenic nature trails, canoe/kayak ramps, and one of the most beautiful disc golf courses in New England.
Typically synonymous with Boston, Massachusetts holds some wonderful beauty inland away from Cape Cod, Boston, and Martha's Vineyard. Enjoy the subtle yet elegant beauty that very few get to see unless you're from central mass.
I hope you enjoy the scenic dirt road drive through the Ware River Conservation. The purpose of these videos is to bring some relaxation or showcase tourist destinations in their natural state without music or narration allowing the location to be the character. Exploring the Barre Cross (Barre, MA)
J-MASS INSTAGRAM: @jmassofficial
Join me as I explore one of the most unique landmarks in Central Massachusetts, with an equally as unique backstory: the Barre Cross in Barre, Massachusetts! This massive shrine, which is primarily dedicated to the Ten Commandments, was developed by John P. Harty Sr. after he received a vision from God with special instructions on how to build the cross in 1989. After working on it for three years, alongside his daughter, the Barre Cross was completed in 1992. Looking from above, the installation includes a massive cross made of asphalt and paint, detailing the Ten Commandments; below that, pine trees spell out the words God's Wisdom. And at ground level, there are many intricacies to witness, including pieces of scripture, Biblical verses, and other words of God. Again, all of this was given to Harty Sr. through his revelation, down to the smallest details.
I came here once in 2018, making this my second trip here. The Barre Cross is truly an awe-inspiring sight, with the picturesque landscape offering a unique experience to any travelers. Knowing the backstory behind it is crucial as you're able to visualize the feeling of urgency Harty Sr. likely had when creating this project for God. I especially love the pine trees that spell out God's Wisdom, as walking among them feels like a maze. The Cross itself is beautiful, with each white painted word contrasting against the black asphalt to create a gripping art installation. Overall, the Barre Cross is a truly unique landmark. Whether or not you are Christian, or even religious in general, you'll love exploring this place just as I have! If you guys liked this video, make sure to stay tuned for more exploration videos all across New England!
