The Lower Anaicut or Anaikkarai is a dam and bridge built on the Kollidam in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was built in 1902 by the colonial administration of the Madras Presidency for irrigating the erstwhile South Arcot district. Stones from the ruins of Gangaikonda Cholapuram were used to construct the dam.
The Periyanayagi Ammam Temple situated in the center of Devikapuram village. This temple is built by the Vijayanagara Emperor in the 14th century. This is the second largest temple after Tiruvannamalai Arunachaleswarar Temple.
The Karaivetti Bird Sanctuary is a 4.537-square-kilometre protected area located in the Ariyalur District of the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The sanctuary is about 25 kilometres from Thanjavur. This freshwater lake is fed by Pullambadi, Kattalal canal and attracts thousands of birds every year.

Ganga Jadadisvarar Temple
Built during the period of Uthama Cholan in A.D. 980.
The inscriptions of Chola, Pandya, and Vijayanagara kings can be found on the wall.
Karkodeshwarar Thirukkoyil – Kamarasavalli
· This temple is dedicated to Lord Soundareswarar and his consort Velambal.
Built in A.D. 962. during the reign of Sundara Cholan
More than 40 inscriptions and beautiful sculptures of the Chola, Pandya, and Hoysala periods exist.
Vaithiyanaatha Swami Thirukkoyil – Thirumazhapadi
· This is a Tamil temple dedicated to Lord Shiva as Moolavar.
· Built during the period of Aditya Cholan – I around A.D. 871- 907.
· People believe that any obstacles in marriage will get resolved after attending this Nandidevar Kalyanam in this temple.
Sendurai, Sennivanam And Sripurandan Temples
These temples belong to the era of Rajaraja I, Rajendra I, and Kulothunga III, respectively.
· Many idols have been stolen from these temples, which were made using silver, Gold, and Panchaloga.
- These temples are in a dilapidated and ruined state.
Meenatchi Sundareswarar Koil – Melapalur
· Believed to have been built around the 7th or 10th century by Pazhuvettaraiyar.
· The last consecration of the temple (Kumbhabishekam) was performed in 2015, nearly after 500 years.
Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple
· Built by Rajendra Cholan in 1035 AD and is well-known for Tamil architecture.
· In many ways, the temple resembles Thanjavur Peruvudaiyar temple and is often called its feminine version for its delicate appearance.
· It has over 50 sculptural reliefs around the sanctum, including Nataraja and Saraswati, and Shiva garlanding a devotee.
· The temple follows the Saivite tradition for prayers and ceremonies.
· The best place to visit if you’re interested in exploring the architecture of ancient Tamils.
Keezhayur Twin Temples
Built in A.D 884 by Pazhuvettaraiyar chief Kumaran Kandan and Maravan Kandan,
the twin temples are one of the early Chola architectures.
This 1200-year temple was built much before Thanjavur Peruvudaiyar temple.
