Santuario Guadalupano, Zamora, Michoacan, 4K
Si te dijera que este edificio está en Europa, me creerías? Y que si te dijera que fue terminado apenas hace 11 años? Se encuentra en Zamora, Michoacán, y su construcción abarca más de un siglo.
Por la mayor parte de su existencia, esta iglesia, llamada el Santuario Guadalupano, fue apodada La Inconclusa, debido a la forma en que se desenvolvió Mexico en el siglo veinte.
Su historia comienza el 2 Febrero de 1898, en una fiesta de la Candelaria, cuando la villa de Zamora comenzó la construcción de una espléndida y enorme catedral de estilo neogótico, con abundante piedra de cantera y 300 trabajadores, que rápidamente comenzaron su fundación y alzaron todas sus columnas. Cuatro de sus 5 naves estaban ya techadas cuando tuvieron que abandonar su trabajo, debido a la intensificación de la Revolución Mexicana.
Mas adelante, fue expropiada por el gobierno Mexicano ya que por muchos años, las iglesias perdieron el derecho a tener propiedad privada.
Durante la Revolución y la subsecuente guerra Cristera, se convirtió en la sede del ejercito. A traves de ese oscuro periodo se perdieron los planos originales y mucha de la piedra que se había preparado para su construcción. Una de sus paredes fue utilizada para fusilamientos y llegó a llamarse el muro del cástigo, donde probablemente cientos de personas fueron asesinadas por resistir a la represión del gobierno Mexicano a la iglesia Católica en esos años.
Llegó a ser utilizada como estacionamiento para los camiones de la basura.
Sin embargo, en 1988 el obispo de Zamora en ese entonces, logró que fuera devuelta a la iglesia, y dos años despues, comenzaron de nuevo las obras de construcción, que concluyeron en el año 2009.
Sus torres son consideradas las mas altas de Mexico, llegando a los 107.5 metros. En su interior caben 4 mil personas.
Sus ventanas tiene hermosos vitrales en estilo moderno. Su órgano fue realizado en Alemania por Alexander Shucke. El muro del castigo fue preservado intacto, y aun se pueden ver los agujeros de las balas del ejercito.

🇺🇸 EL PASO, TEXAS | Is the USA SAFE?! | Mexico to USA BORDER Crossing | Mexico TRAVEL 2022
🇺🇸 EL PASO, TEXAS, USA - Welcome to Mexico! Huh? Ok, this is part 4 of my 2022 Mexico series, but while staying in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua (the previous video), I decided to head across the Mexico/US border over to El Paso, Texas, primarily to compare and contrast both sides of the border in the US and Mexico, and secondarily to sarcastically stick knives in those who constantly highlight Mexico as being DANGEROUS or not SAFE, purely because those saying that are white, western, English speakers. Considering the 2019 El Paso Walmart shooting, the question is, IS THE USA SAFE?
We check out some things to do in El Paso such as Hotel Paso del Norte and it's spectacular early 1900s Dome Bar, with its Tiffany Dome and Titanic-esque decor, St Patrick's Cathedral, Coffee Box, streetcars, Las Plazas District, the Office District, the main shopping street across the border, San Jacinto Plaza and in general, the Downtown area. As someone who appreciates 70s/80's modern US skyscraper architecture, I loved El Paso!
I also cover my experience at the Mexico to USA border crossing. Is it a place solely for illegal immigration? I have done an overland Mexico to US crossing before, but 17 years ago in Tijuana/San Diego. It was an interesting and vastly contrasting experience depending on the direction!
If you're thinking of embarking on Mexico Travel in 2022, my channel is a good place to start. I've been to 22 states and (nowadays) visit some more less-common states in northern Mexico such as Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa and so on. Plus the more common classics like Guanajuato, Mexico City and more if you're into more of the expats in Mexico or moving to Mexico business! (not my thing!)
