In today's video (in El Salvador), I will be taking you on a journey through ALL of SAN SALVADOR in 24 HOURS (National palace, Iglesia de Rosario, el boqueron, picnic steakhouse, and more). From Lake Coatepeque, we took a 2 hour drive (with traffic) to our hotel in Santa Tecla. After resting for the night, we embarked on our journey through San Salvador's busy city center. On the way, we learned about the diverse history at the national palace and soaked in the beautiful architectural designs of the oldest and most modern Cathedral churches in the country. Afterwards, we went on a EL SALVADOR FOOD TOUR and tried the nuegado de yuca, pan de pavo, and PAPUSAS! Join us as we wake up in a new era of travel/tourism in El Salvador, explode our taste buds with a variety of traditional Salvadoran foods and desserts, and take a RAINBOW slide down the side of a volcano!

San Salvador, El Salvador (Central America) - stunning church of El Rosario in San Salvador, El Salvador. Let's travel to El Salvador and let's visit the awesome church of El Rosario in San Salvador, El Salvador (Central America).
From the outside the church of El Rosario in San Salvador resembles a concrete airplane hangar with a dome shaped roof and a nondescript grey and red-brick construction. But when you walk inside the church of El Rosario in San Salvador, at sundown the stained glass in the ceiling filters the light in a rainbow of color that splashes across the altar, it fills you with a sense of wonder. Additionally, the 12 stages of the cross, designed in Martinez's unique style of metal and rock, turn the church of El Rosario in San Salvador into a masterpiece of art. Best time to visit is early in the morning or in the late afternoon when the light has the most dramatic effect.
Great things happen with artists get their hands on religion and the Rosario Church is a perfect example. Ruben Martinez, one of El Salvador's most prominent sculptors designed a church that wouldn't get in the way of the public and that wouldn't run from God, meaning that there would be no structures or distractions from the building itself (posts, blinding light through windows, etc) to interfere with services or people's devotion. The end result, finished in 1971, is a building that challenges the ideas of modern churches and is renowned as one of the most unique churches in the Americas.

Neighboring the capital city of San Salvador, these cities were once separated by extensive coffee plantations, which today have become suburbs lying in two different states. Tour this beautiful city as David displays the main streets, neo-gothic style church, local markets and San Martin Park, filled with Spanish-influenced architecture. Stroll the markets, try some local street fare, or if you find yourself in the area Thursday to Saturday, visit the pedestrian night market for a wonderful, cultural experience.

El Salvador Travel - El Salvador sneaks up on you: in lefty lounge bars in San Salvador, at sobering museums and war memorials, and along lush cloud-forest trails; its a place of remarkable warmth and intelligence, made all the more appealing for being so unexpected. Travellers tend to skip El Salvador, wooed by marquee destinations such as Guatemala and Costa Rica, and unnerved by stories of civil war and gang violence. But the war ended almost 20 years ago, and crime, while serious, is almost exclusively played out between rival gangs; Travelists are virtually never involved.
El Salvador Travel Fact: And though El Salvador has fewer protected areas than its neighbors, you get them practically to yourself -- including pristine forests, active volcanoes and sparkling lakes. The only place you might find a crowd is on Punta Roca, El Salvadors most famous surfing spot -- it happens to be one of the best right point breaks in the world, yet is a ghost town compared to lesser swells in Costa Rica and elsewhere. And when it comes to cities, none in Central America is smarter or cooler than San Salvador, with first-rate universities, museums and galleries, a vibrant bar and live-music scene, and an array of progressive NGOs, both local and international.
