Where can we even begin? It was love at first sight with Amasra, Turkey!
We had no idea Turkey's Black Sea Coast was this beautiful. We have to go back and explore more of it, that's for sure! In this video we share with you the picturesque town of Amasra, in Turkey's Black Sea Coast. We stayed here for 9 nights on our way to Istanbul from Rize. We were craving being in a small town where we could relax and catch up with work. It was a success!
We visited Amasra in the off-season and it was completely empty. We read this little coastal town gets packed during Summer! We would 100% go back and if you are visiting Turkey, we definitely recommend including this area to your itinerary.

If you travel Blacksea region of Turkey one of the first best to do was staying in Amasra. Of course I didn't add all good parts of it just to have some idea.
Walk on the bridge, see castle and Rabbit island, enjoy good quality restaurants with breathtaking view that you would never imagine how beautiful Blacksea is actually.

Amasra Castle - Bartin
Amasra Castle, consisting of two main masses, is connected by a bridge called Boztepe Arch. One of the two main masses is Sormagir Castle in Boztepe and the other is Zindan Castle.
Amasra Castle, which was also used during the Genoese period, had serious repairs in the 14th and 15th centuries. The length of the east walls of Amasra Castle between the northeast and southeast is 65 meters, the length of the south walls with 8 bastions is 300 meters, and most of them have been destroyed since Kemere Bridge. The length of the northern walls is about 200 meters.Since the north and northwest of Sormagir Castle descend into the sea in a very steep cliff, no walls were built here. Most of the walls surrounding the east, northeast and west have been destroyed, and a 50-meter part of the west walls adjacent to the gate is still standing. In the Amasra Castle, there are sometimes tower gaps, interior divisions, the coats of arms of Genoa placed in certain places, figures such as Eros, Medusa, eagle and ox head.

THE LONG JOURNEY FROM RIZE TO AMASRA 🚌 // TURKEY Bus Travel
Day 65 of our new life as full time travelers // Recorded on November 9th 2021
What a travel day!! For some reason, we couldn't find a direct bus from Rize to Amasra that wasn't an overnight bus, so we decided to do this instead... was it the right choice? I still don't know!
It was definitely more entertaining and less boring than the overnight bus, but it was equally exhausting! We set foot in 4 different cities and had to do 7 segments (A car, 5 buses and an airplane). It took us almost 12 hours to get from Rize to Amasra, so it was for sure a long journey. Still, we promise that you'll forget about it the next day, so it's totally worth it.
This is how Turkey bus travel looks like though! The Turkish bus system works great! There are always many options and you don't even have to book your tickets in advance. Trust us, we took MANY buses in Turkey during our 3 month journey. Also, we have videos about each trip if you are interested. Just check out our playlist called: 'Travel Day Vlogs'
