10 Most Loved Towns in England
What are the most loved towns in England? There is something about the towns in England that makes them famous the world over. Could it be because, in England, there is always a carnival or festival in one place or the other? You probably have to look past the large towns and cities to discover them. That's why we want to look at these 10 most loved towns in England to see why they're loved.
Some of these towns are neatly tucked away, in rolling green hills, on rugged cliffs, near forests, or moorland. Others have beaches and rivers. There’s something about these quintessential towns in England that makes them loved. Follow along and see if you too would love these most loved towns in England.
10. Selby
We start off with Selby a town in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire. It is a market town and civil parish in the Selby District. With its status as a town council, Selby is 14 miles south of York on the River Ouse. The town with a population of 14,731 is one of the 10 most loved towns in England.
There used to be a large shipbuilding industry in this town which was historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It was also an important port on the Selby Canal that was bringing trades from Leeds. Something to be loved about this town is the market towns and picturesque villages. It’s one of the most loved also because house prices there are lower and people get more for their money.
9. Frome
When Frome was listed among one of the “Best Places to Live in Britain” by a popular ranking, we know it’s going to be one of the most loved towns in the country. Now, this town and civil parish in eastern Somerset is the ninth most loved town in England. Frome is built on uneven high ground on the Mendip Hills, at the eastern end and it centers on the River Frome.
The town about 13 miles south of Bath and the largest in the Mendip District of Somerset is loved for being welcoming, charming, and vibrant. A part of the parliamentary constituency of Somerton and Frome, it has a wealth of history, culture, and natural beauty. People from outside the town love it for its tranquility and antiquity.
8. Maldon
The next of the most loved towns in England is Maldon. The town council also in the ceremonial country of North Yorkshire is another town in the county on this list. Of course, North Yorkshire has a lot of loved towns, and this civil parish on the Blackwater estuary in Essex is just one of them. It is the seat of the Maldon District and the starting point of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation.
Known for Maldon Sea Salt being produced in the area, the town with a population of 14,220 is loved for being a good place to retire. You will find a lot of elderly people from whom you can learn about the rich English history and culture
7. Hart
We would love to include Hart here even though it is a local government district. It’s in Hampshire and derived its name from the River Hart with its council based in Fleet. Formed on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act of 1972, it doesn’t have city status. However, it’s a merger of the urban district of Fleet, and the Hartley Wintney Rural District.
We consider Hart one of the most loved places in England after it was named the best place to live in Britain by the 2017 Halifax Quality of Life study. It’s indeed one of the richest and least deprived areas in the entire United Kingdom, according to the Indices of Deprivation 2015. The town ranked 326th least deprived out of 326 local authorities in England. That’s why people love Hart.

10 Reasons to Visit Manchester
Why haven't you visited the north yet if you're interested in seeing the world? Manchester is among the most active towns in England, pulsing with innovation, full with unique buildings and host to perhaps the most renowned football team in the world. This industrial hub really does provide plenty for everybody, and we swear it isn't constantly pouring.
1. There is more than one trendy area to live in.
You’ve definitely heard of the Northern Quarter, the creative area in the core of the city with bright street art, independent businesses and lots of pubs serving craft beer. This hipster utopia isn’t the only nice area in the city, though. Next door is the hip and happening Ancoats neighborhood, which has been heralded as the next big thing by the world's media. Chorlton, a bohemian neighborhood, West Didsbury, a busy shopping district, and Altrincham, a gastronomic hotspot, are all easily accessible by tram.
2. Mancunian's Know How to Have a Good Time
After dark, Manchester is a city that comes to life, and if you're in the mood to party, a Saturday night in the middle of the city is your best bet for finding the best spots to do so. Spinningfields is where you want to be if you want a more upscale experience, while the Northern Quarter is where you want to be if you want to drink artisan beer or cocktails at the coolest pubs. Although Manchester is just one of many cities that can boast of a varied nightlife culture, the city truly does have something to offer each and every visitor. It doesn't matter if you're looking to unwind to live jazz at Northern Quarter's Matt and Phreds, see up-and-coming indie artists at the Academy, or unwind at Panacea, a club frequented by the city's movers and players; Manchester's nightlife is unparalleled. If you are looking for a lively pub in the Northern Quarter, both The Walrus and The Bay Horse are excellent choices for you to consider.
3. The place is a dream for foodies.
The fact that there is such a wide variety of places to eat in the central business district of Manchester suggests that the residents of the area place a high priority on food and dining. If you have a hankering for Italian, Indian, or Chinese food, you can satisfy that craving in Manchester, which is home to some of the best restaurants in the country. In addition, the city's multitude of outdoor food markets offer an alternative that is more laid-back. You shouldn't miss out on the opportunity to go to Altrincham market, which is widely considered to be among the best food markets in the country.
4. Gorgeous Natural Scenery Surrounds the City
Because of its location, Manchester is an excellent choice for a home base from which to embark on day trips to the nearby moors, mountains, seaside, and woods when you are ready to escape the city. The Peak District, Pennines, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and North Wales are just some of the places that are within easy driving distance of the city and offer numerous opportunities for hiking and sightseeing. The Lake District, the rolling hills of Derbyshire, the kitsch of Blackpool, the fading 1950s splendor of Morecambe, and the beautiful beaches of Southport, Fleetwood, and North Wales can all be reached easily from Manchester, making it an excellent starting point for day trips. In addition, people who are interested in flying out to warmer climates can do so in a speedy and convenient manner from the international airports located nearby in Liverpool or Manchester.

10 Best Towns to Live in England - My Subcriber's List
What are the best towns in England? Thank you, so much, dear subscribers, for bearing your minds on my video regarding the 10 best towns to live in England. I have analyzed your opinions about the towns you consider 10 best when living in England is on the balance. Indeed, England is an interesting and diverse country. Offering a variety of living experiences, I understand that different groups of people and individuals will love different features of towns. That necessarily creates different rankings of the towns in England among my subscribers. From the towns you listed as the best towns to live in England, I have compiled this as the 10 best towns to live in England, but in my order since my subscribers have varying orders.
10. Alnwick
Thanks for calling my attention to the market town of Alnwick in Northumberland, of which it’s the traditional county town. This coastal town on the River Aln's southern bank is 55 kilometers north of Newcastle upon Tyne. It's 51 kilometers south of Berwick-upon-Tweed and 8 kilometers inland from the North Sea at Alnmouth.
A lot of things contributed to making Alnwick one of the best towns to live in England. Some of the things that my subscribers saw about this town are its cheap homes, good characters, good transport links, fascinating history, and of course, low crime rates. I have no other choice than to agree with you that this town whose residents believe that living there affords them a fantastic quality of life is one of the best towns in England.
9. Weston-Super-Mare
I love the inclusion of Weston-super-Mare on my subscribers’ list. I found the communities in Weston-Super-Mare so small but the people are quite pleasant. I wholeheartedly join in ranking it among the best places in England. It’s a town with a warm and temperate climate with plenty of rainfall all year round.
For those planning for their retirement, Weston-Super-Mare is a great place due to its relaxing atmosphere and variety of interesting activities at all times of the year. The town has a lot to offer, including its beautiful beach, dozens of entertainment venues where your soul will be treated to good music, comedy, and many more. Home prices are cheap in Weston-Super-Mare also. Therefore, as a family-friendly commuter town with good links to many cities and plenty of shopping opportunities, this is a very good town to live in in England.
8. Frome
I’m happy that you all agree with all I said about the market town of Frome and you added it to your list. In addition to all that I have told you about this town sitting on the eastern flanks of the Mendip Hills which is some 20 kilometers south of the ancient town of Bath and some 172 kilometers west of London, I want to show you some of the things that make Frome one of the loveliest little towns, not only in England but also in the UK as a whole.
It has a vibrant nightlife that gives a justification for its being the fourth largest Somerset town. Also, its education, transportation, and good links will always combine to make it one of the 10 best towns to live in England.

10 Greenest Towns in the UK
What are the greenest towns tin the United Kingdom? As many as 7 of the greenest towns in England are among the 10 greenest towns in the UK. This is not surprising at all. England is only being prevented from being equated with the entire United Kingdom. Thus, for records purposes and the sake of clarity, don’t be surprised to find towns and cities in England dominating listings of bests or worsts of towns and cities in the UK.
Other UK towns that slug it out with the towns in England on this list of the 10 greenest towns in Britain are Falkirk in Scotland, Merthyr Tydfil in Wales, and Bridgend also in Wales. It appears other regions of the United Kingdom have something to learn from England about nature and its preservation.
10. Barnsley, England
The first to be considered among the 10 greenest towns in the UK is Barnsley, a large market town and the fourth-largest settlement in South Yorkshire. This town doesn’t allow inappropriate development within its areas and the conditions in building permits are stricter. By doing this, it has been able to preserve its green space.
The River Dearne Valley and Worsbrough Mill Park and reservoir are just two examples of efforts that the town is making to be one of the greenest towns in both England and the entire United Kingdom. As of 2017, it has some 23,050 hectares of green belt which was first defined in 1979. Its rural landscape features encourage recreation and leisure interests.
9. Stafford, England
Stafford, a county town of Staffordshire in the West Midlands, lying about 24 kilometers north of Wolverhampton, 24 kilometers south of Stoke-on-Trent, and 39 kilometers northwest of Birmingham, is the next of the 10 greenest towns in the UK.
The nature reserves in Stafford include Astonfields Balancing Lakes, a local nature reserve of two lakes constructed for flood protection. There’s also Doxey Marshes, a wet grassland habitat about three kilometers northwest of the town center managed by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. It’s 150 hectares of nature reserve and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It's home to wading birds and wildfowl. Kingsmead Marsh and Radford Meadows are also green spaces in this town.
8. Falkirk, Scotland
Falkirk, a large town in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. The town which is 37.5 kilometers northwest of Edinburgh and 33 kilometers northeast of Glasgow is doing great in maintaining a wide range of greenspace.
It has an initiative called Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN). The unrivaled network aims at transforming Central Scotland into a place where the environment adds value to the economy and people’s lives are enriched by its quality. GSGN has no peer in Europe as a green space initiative that has been embedded in all relevant plans, policies, and strategies. The result of this is seen in the green revolution in the town.
7. Daventry, England
Yet another town on this list is Daventry, a town that is close to the border with Warwickshire with a population of 25,026 as of 2011. As the sixth-largest town in Northamptonshire, it’s one of the 10 greenest towns in the UK.

Altrincham, England Walking Tour 4K - The Best of Greater Manchester
Welcome to Altrincham, Greater Manchester, England. This walk was filmed on 5 March 2020, starting at 17.00 PM. Altrincham is a market town located south of the River Mersey - 8 miles away from Manchester city centre. At the 2011 Census, it had a population of 52,419. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, Altrincham was established as a market town in 1290 and has a strong middle-class presence. It is also home to Altrincham F.C.
The town was quiet and well maintained, a great place to live in Greater Manchester. I would have loved to see it more animated and it serves as a great day out when in Manchester. I hope you enjoy Altrincham as much as I did. Thanks for watching. Be sure to put on headphones while watching to get the full experience of the walk. Cheers.

King George V Pool - Altrincham
Altrincham is lucky to have a number of attractive parks and gardens. King George V Pool sits sandwiched between the Altrincham town centre and the Altrincham Golf Course, yet still somehow manages to feel hidden away from it all.
A haven for birds, fish and anglers, the pool is surrounded by a path that, whilst muddy in the winter, is a lovely place for a weekend walk.
Managed by the Friends of King George V Pool, the area is generally well looked after and lately there has been additional work done on the paths and fishing launches.
This is a first in my series of short films of England's Parks & Gardens.
