Vipava Valley: Slovenia's beautiful hidden treasure
It's less than an hour's drive from Slovenia's capital, Ljubljana, yet the Vipava Valley hasn't really registered on the tourist radar.
This lusciously fertile region that stretches west to the Italian border has a magical combination of exceptionally fine wine and food, dramatic karst landscapes and medieval castles towering over pretty villages.
It even has its own microclimate -- a little taste of the Mediterranean wedged between limestone mountains. It's a place made for outdoor adventures -- on foot, on two wheels or on a paraglider floating above the valley.
Here are some of the unmissable sights of the Vipava Valley, for when it's safe to visit.

Crazy storms in Slovenia #apocalypse #storm #shorts
From raging lightning strikes to ferocious winds and torrential downpours, these extreme weather events have left us awe-struck and amazed. Our climate seems to be undergoing remarkable changes, bringing about storms like never before! The 2 storms left behind quite a destruction. Roofs of houses flew off, cellars got flooded, an incredible amount of trees that have fallen. The gardens with vegetables and fruit trees got destroyed in most cases.
The crazy winds and storms continued towards Croatia and Serbia where the destruction was even worst.

4 / Hubelj | Easy Slow Walk Along The River In Small Roman Town | Ajdovščina | Slovenia | ASMR | 4K
A wonderful, relaxing and calm walk along the river Hubelj, through a wonderful little town.
Hubelj is a river, and in the rainy season, a torrent that flows through Ajdovščina. It originates from three karst springs at the foot of the Navrše hill, 2.5 km north of the village, and flows into the Vipava river near the village of Dolenje. All waterfalls are visible only during the rainy season.
The Roman fort is located in the center of the town of Ajdovščina in Slovenia, under the name Castra or Castra Ad Fluvium Frigidum, which is a military camp. The fortress is part of the former Roman defense system, called Claustra Alpium Iuliarum, which stretched across the territory of present-day Slovenia and Croatia.
Ajdovščina is a town with almost 7.000 inhabitants in the central part of the Vipava valley and the center of the Ajdovščina municipality.

Slovenia: Tolmin Gorge and Kozjak Waterfall Hikes
Our first day exploring Triglav National Park was amazing. It was so refreshing to get back out in nature, hiking these beautiful trails. Tolmin Gorge is such a well-organized hike but know that they only let so many people in per hour. Because of this, we did end up waiting at the entrance for about a half hour. Also of note, the parking lot closest to the entrance is super small and is full pretty much as soon as the gorge opens. Due to this, you have to park at the second lot a few miles down the road. But don't worry, there's a free shuttle to take you to the gorge and back.
Kozjak waterfall was a great hike to end the day and it was so cool that you could wade through the water and get a closer look. The trail wasn't difficult at all, and you could walk almost the entirety of it for free. But if you do plan to go all the way to the waterfall, there's a booth collecting your entrance fee toward the end of the hike.
We had a great day overall and looking forward to more gorges, waterfalls and hikes in beautiful Slovenia.

Visiting and sightseeing Idrija, Slovenia
Weekend trip to Idrija with our yellow Labrador Bina. A small, remote village, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List - Idrija, is well known for second largest mercury mine in Europe and Idrija lace. It was one of the hottest weekend this summer and descending into the mine was a nice cool off. Another idea to cool off is Idrijca river. It might me too cold, but just walking barefoot around the water can be effective. Also, go for a shadow stroll following Rake – the mine’s water channel.
