Panna Ajaigarh The Hilltop Fort
Memories of a princely life: In the Ajaygarh fort
Viewing from the Ajaigarh Fort In Madhya Pradesh, beautiful lakes and ruins adorn the circumference of the great fort, which has now been taken over by the Oberoi Group and is planned to be turned into a Tiger Resort.
Ajaigarh was the capital of a princely state of the same name during the British Raj. Ajaigarh was founded in 1765 by Guman Singh, a bundela Rajput who was the nephew of Raja Pahar Singh of Jaitpur. After Ajaigarh was captured by the British in 1809, it became a princely state in the Bundelkhand Agency of the Central India Agency. It had an area of 771 mile² (1997 km²), and a population of 78,236 in 1901. The rulers bore the title of sawai maharaja. He commanded an estimated annual revenue of about £15,000/-, and paid a tribute of £460/-. The chief resided at the town of Nowgong[disambiguation needed], at the foot of the hill-fortress of Ajaigarh, from which the state took its name. This fort, situated on a steep hill, towers more than 800 ft (244 m) above the eponymous township, and contains the ruins of several temples adorned with elaborately carved sculptures. The town was often afflicted by malaria, and suffered severely from famine in 1868-1869 and 1896-1897.
The state acceded to the Government of India on January 1, 1950; the ruling chief was granted a privy purse of Rs. 74,700/-, and the courtesy use of his styles and titles. All of these were revoked by the government of India in 1971, at the time when these privileges were revoked from all erstwhile princes. The former princely state became part of the new Indian state of Vindhya Pradesh, and most of the territory of the former state, including the town of Ajaigarh, became part of Panna District, with a smaller portion going to Chhatarpur District. Vindhya Pradesh was merged into Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 1956.

Ajaipal Talao in Ajaigarh Fort, near Khajuraho
It takes a climb of over 400 steps to get to Ajaigarh Fort, located in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. The fort is medieval though many historians believe it to be built on the site of an older citadel. The presence of ancient temples and older temple remains support that belief. The focal point of the fort is the Ajaipal Talao or pond. Ajaipal was a local king who is still held in reverence by the residents of the villages around who flock to the pond on Makar Sankartani day each January to pay their respects. The pond is surrounded by temple remains. Ajaigarh is about 75 kms from Khajuraho.

Ajaygarh Fort | Cinematic Madhya Pradesh | Unexplored India | Our Lost Heritage
#ajaygarhfort #lostheritage #bundelkhand #madhyapradesh #incredibleindia
This video is about our excursion to Ajaygarh, Fort or Ajaypal fort located in Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh & about 60kms from World heritage site Khajuraho, It stands on Vindhya ranges of Panna district. This unknown magnificent fort is noted for its rich historical past and architectural beauty, which speaks volumes about the Chandela dynasty.
There is plenty to explore in the fort, which makes it a treat for history lovers.
We climbed 500 steep steps to reach the fort entrance. There are no signboards, maps, info sources, human habitation at the top. It is not a well-developed place so one needs to carry water and food.

BIKANER Top 15 Tourist Places | Bikaner Tourism | Travel Video | Tour
#FullMooNTv Explorer
Bikaner can be reached by train from Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Agra, Punjab and other major Indian towns. It can also be reached by road from Delhi via Shekhawati or Jaipur. The highways are very good. However, the country roads in the Shekhawati region can be a bit of a dampener. The road from Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur are the best roads. The nearest major airport is Jodhpur (around 4.5 hours journey) and is well connected by road and rail. However, traveling via Jaipur (6.5 hours distance) gives you more options in terms of flight frequency and choice of airlines. Overall it comes out to be cheaper (due to availability of low-cost airlines) if you travel via Jaipur.
Bikaner also has its own Civil Airport, which has direct flights to Jaipur & Delhi daily.
• Junagarh Fort: The fort was built by Raja Rai Singh, the sixth ruler of Bikaner, who reigned from 1571 to 1612. It is a fort of the Bikaner royal family. It was designed by the British architect, Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob in the year 1902, completed in year 1926, and it is part of Lalgarh palace. The style of architecture is Indo-Saracenic. It is now a luxury hotel owned by Golden Triangle Fort & Palace P. Ltd.
