Similar ride to yesterday just slightly busier roads. Still beautiful forest sections, lots of villages & farms. Basically, still following the Krka River. Valley broadened out into quite extensive farmlands as we neared our destination. A krick in the Krka forms a lovely island of rather old buildings, not all in use but nearly all with flowers in window boxes. Once a castle but long since gone. Wooden bridges and a one-way street system to lap the island. Stopped in town for lunch before coming to our accommodation. A group of school children (probably the graduates) enjoying time together in the bar-restaurant. Our accom is a small hotel. Hosting a primary school graduation tonight - setting up when we arrived. 15-year-olds graduating and going onto secondary school. Explored the village and believe we've found the kind of place you could retreat to for a couple of months if one was wanting to be creative. Most buildings are occupied on closer inspection. Larger villas probably now with several apartments. Beehive house with a swarm outside. Stopped at a riverside bar for the usual while we watched a beach volleyball game in progress on the other side of the river. Returned to our Hotel for dinner amongst the teachers, parents and graduates.

What a sweet ride. If all rides were like this, I'd keep on cycling and touring for months and months. Temp only between 10 and 13 all day (quite good for cycling) was the only thing I'd improve. Maybe another 5 deg would be good. Easy out of Ljubljana, great roads with cycle lanes, paths, good surfaces, little traffic. The ups were lovely and gentle, and the downs were sweet. When up we were in magnificent forests, arching over the road creating a dark green tunnel. Surrounded by birdsong, the chill wind in my face, the smell of spruce and meadow grasses. The quietness from human activity (except for the odd car, truck or bus). The pleasing whirr of a well-tuned bike. Passing through neat villages, wooden sheds, wood stacks and not a scrap of rubbish to be seen on the road. Followed the Krka River from the hills to our destination. This is what I truly love when on my bike. The Eurasian Lynx is on the town coat of arms. Parish church was destroyed in 1945 and stood in ruins until 1993 when restoration was started after the country's Independence. Now stands as a testament to what the community can achieve. The castle sits on the edge of the Krka River. The river tumbles through in a narrow gorge below the castle with many minor falls. Arriving at a reasonable time, we had time for lunch before checking into accommodation. The neighbouring chooks came running to greet me as I checked out our lovely garden setting.

We look around the Characteristic capital of Ljubljana, walk around Lake Bled, and showcase the pricing of boat tours- a brief overnight stop in Žužemberk. We did have an overnight stop in Montegro's capital city in an AIRBNB and visited a few places such as the Predjama Castle- which boasts an unbelievable cave built into the Rocks- although the footage isn't in this video of the castle walks, We recommend you take a look at the caving systems beneath.
