Malta Island - Amazing Places to Visit HD
Malta, island country located in the central Mediterranean Sea.Malta has beaches for everyone, choose from golden sand, red sand, rocks, blue lagoons and even inland seas. Some beaches and rocky shores are off the beaten track, but worth seeking out for their seclusion. Do not miss to visit Comino's Blue Lagoon for the ultimate in azure water (the most beautiful beach I've visited here). With Malta's climate, beach life lasts well into October.

MALTA: Zejtun-St Gregory Church & Its Secret Passage
This church is dedicated to St Catherine of Alexandria and was Zejtun's parish from 1436 to 1720. Today it is known as St. Gregory's Church and relates to the statue of Pope Saint Gregory the Great that is situated in the middle of the church's square. The statue faces the Cathedral of Mdina, the old medieval capital in the centre of the island.
The church was used as part of the defences of the Hospitaller Knights of St John against the Turks.
In 1969, a secret passage was discovered in the church walls. Intended perhaps as a safe place for villagers when Żejtun was under attack by the enemy. These passages revealed the skeletal remains of some 80 people.
As from the 16th.Century a votive procession used to depart from all the parishes of Malta early in the day on foot and ended at this very church later in the morning. The procession still takes place nowadays albeit on a smaller scale, on the first Wednesday after Easter.

In This City in Malta i found only local people
In this city in Malta i found only local people, this is Zejtun. One of Malta’s most traditional and historical cities to visit. Zejtun is absolutely amazing, it gives the proper Maltese vibe. This city in Malta is not so visited by tourists however it has a lot of Maltese tradition that is worth visiting. Zejtun really amazed me with the beauty and the local people were very friendly.
MALTA: Żejtun - A Heritage Walk
Żejtun or Città Beland is a town of 12,000 inhabitants in the south of Malta. Żejtun was bestowed with the title of Città Beland by Ferdinand von Hompesch zu Bohheim, Grandmaster of Knights of Malta in 1797. Beland was his mother's surname.
Żejtun derives from the Arabic Zaytun which means olive because it was one of the main industry in this area. It was also known as Ħal-Bisbut or Casal Bisbut.
The Parish Church was buit in 1720 and its architect was Malta's Lorenzo Gafa'. It replaced the old Parish Church which today is known as San Girgor. The beautiful statue of St Catherine of Alexandria V.M. was cared in wood circa 1760.
Żejtun has two band clubs: The Beland Band Club established c. 1860 and the Żejtun Band Club esatablished circa 1933.
Some of the info was taken from the book The Parish of Żejtun through the ages by Rev. Joe Abela of Żejtun.
Our thanks to Maj. Tony Abela for his continuous support and cooperation and for providing some of the photos and for the informative tour he kindly gave us of Żejtun. Thanks also to Fr Joe Abela and the Parish Church, as well as to the Sagristan, Pawlu Żammit for the tour he gave us of the church and the crypts.

Hiking through Zejtun to Marsascala (via Hal Tmin and Xrobb l-Ghagin)
Starting in the alleyways of Zejtun, we walk past some of the town's several old chapels and niches and its imposing Parish Church dedicated to St. Catherine, heading east towards the hamlet of Hal Tmin and its chapel dedicated to Our Lady (1597) [3:44]. From there we take the road towards Marsaxlokk and Tas-Silg, through the hamlet of Misrah Strejnu and past St. Nicholas Church (San Niklaw, 1640) [4:42]. On the heights of Tas-Silg, we can observe an extensive archaeological complex hosting remnants from the prehistoric temple period that was subsequently modified and rebuilt by the Phoenicians, Romans and Byzantines [5:09]. As we head from there towards Xrobb l-Ghagin, a kestrel hovers in the air, searching for prey [6:38]. Past St. Paul's Battery (British, 1881-1886) [7:29], Xrobb l-Ghagin and the Munxar promontory, we arrive at St. Thomas Bay and Marsascala. St Thomas Bay was once protected by a small battery built by the knights in 1714-1716 [9:06]. In Marsascala we pass by the imposing but elegant St. Thomas Tower (Grand Master Wignacourt, 1614) [10:23].

Why We Love To Travel: As a young adult I was always too busy working to take vacations. My mindset was fixed on building a successful business and this was always justified by telling myself that I'd travel once I'd made my fortunes. By the time I was 30 years old I'd only been on two overseas vacations and did not think I was missing out. Roll forward to 2015, my good lady finally convinced me to book a stay at an all inclusive resort in Fuerteventura. It was an amazing experience and I was instantly bitten by the travel bug and now want to see loads of different places and travel as much as we can. How frequently Do you Travel : As frequently as possible, currently around seven times per year. We have committments at home meaning we need to fit our travel plans in around everyday life. Why Are We Not On Camera: These videos are about the places, adventures, experiences and destinations. The videos are not about me / us - I'm not a TV presenter and I have absolutely not desire to be in front of the camera. Whilst not adverse to being on camera it's just not what our videos are about at the moment. What's in our kitbag: Canon SX540, Canon SX510, various GoPro cameras including the Hero 3 Hero 4 Black and the Hero 5 Black plus a Nextbase Dashcam and Samsung and Apple cameraphones. Our Favorite Places 2 Go Travel: Canary Islands, especially Lanzarote & Fuerteventura are big favourites with us because of the near year round sun and relaxing vibes. ===================================================== Cameras: GoPro 3, 4 Hero, Canon Powershot SX510 & SX540 Editing: Cyberlink PowerDirector, Windows Movie Maker ===================================================== You must ask for my permission to use content from this channel Travel Safe! About Places 2 Go Travel P2GT =====================================================
On my travels I'm joined by my good lady (most of the time), my Dad (some of the time) our wider family occassionally and my dog when not travelling overseas.
What's This Channel About: It started as a travel diary, as a way to share our experiences with our friends and family. A wider audience took an interest in my videos and things just grew from there. I'm trilled at the idea that people on Youtube may get something out of my videos and I love to connect with people who are like minded and enjoy travel as much as we do. Why We Love To Travel: As a young adult I was always too busy working to take vacations. My mindset was fixed on building a successful business and this was always justified by telling myself that I'd travel once I'd made my fortunes.
