I travelled with R 889 Slovacky Express from Praha hl.n to Olomouc hl.n at 20.5.2023 the ride time is 2:27H and 250 KM the ride is going over the biggest station Pardubice and Ceska Trebova. I also travelled one time with an Pendolino Super City train from Plzen to Olomouc. I really can recommend pay a bit more for a Super City train or an EC Train because then you become more service the seat space was not very much and the seats were not very comfortable. But this train is very often on Time.

CIESZYN - An Interesting Polish Border town

Cieszyn is a town that I have past by in speeding Inter-city trains and each time I have thought that I would like to visit the place. So this year, I made a point of spending several days in Cieszyn and it did turn out to be a good choice.

These two towns on the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia will always be linked together although history teared them apart many times. The Olza River flows in between.

Visiting and discovering them is always a great idea for the weekend.
🇵🇱 In Cieszyn it is possible to visit:
- the old town that preserved well its Austro-Hungarian past, along with the main square or rynek;
- the historical complex Zamek that contains a palace and a garden. In the garden stands a tower from which it is possible to enjoy a stunning view of the two cities and the mountains in the distance.
Zamek in local language means 'castle', 'fortress'.
- Little Venice Cieszyn or Wenecja Cieszyńska, a part of the old town near the river that resembles somehow the Italian Venice.
🇨🇿 Once crossed the Przyjaźni most, the Frienship bridge, you can notice many architectural examples of Neo-Renaissance in the main street Hlavní tř., in Český Těšín. Among them, the town museum is worth a visit.
The same street leads to the main square Náměsti ČSA, where you can admire the imposing Town Hall.

Těšín Silesia has a great charm. Its attractiveness has now been increased by a new tourist attraction – a thematic trail called The Common History of Wood, Iron and People. It was created as a cross-border project with the support of EU funds and it interlinks sixteen interesting places connected with the history, production and life stories of people in both the Czech and Polish parts of Těšín Silesia.
