Top 10 Places to Visit in Czech Republic
I spent 3 weeks in the Czech Republic in search of the best places to visit. After featuring this awesome country in our Top 10 destinations for 2015 video, we needed to go and experience it for ourselves. The Czech Republic exceeded our expectations.
Prague was great, as expected, but there's so much to discover outside the big the city!. The national parks and natural reserves are incredibly beautiful.

ČSD Class E 499.1 (Class 141) - electric locomotives were built in Škoda Works in Plzeň for use in the Czechoslovakia on the ČSD. They were also used outside Czechoslovakia in Poland as the class EP05 and in the Soviet Union as ЧС3 (ChS3).
After the fall of the iron curtain and consequent upheavals in railway operations they remain in use with a number of railways. Still in the 1980s ČSD locomotives were renumbered to the class 141. After dividing Czechoslovakia in 1993 all locos of this class have remained in Czech republic.
The locomotive was produced in the years 1957-1960 in three types. 20E1, the prototype, different from serial production, 30E1 and 30E2. 61 engines were built in those series.
The prototype (E499.101) came into service on February 29, 1959. Most of locomotives stationed in Prague, but some of them were sent to Ústí nad Labem and Česká Třebová. Currently the whole series is being systematically withdrawn with last units used in Prague, Olomouc and Ústí nad Labem.
Class E499.1 electric locomotives have driving cabs on either end. This engine was not suited for multiple steering and shunting purposes. On a straight, horizontal track it could pull 600 t. passenger trains with the speed of up to 120 km/h and 1000 t. freight trains with the speed of 80 km/h.

České dráhy (ČD) or Czech Railways is the main railway operator in the Czech Republic. In 2010 its consolidated revenues reached CZK 41.0 billion (€1.6bn, $2.1bn). Revenues from passenger transport amounted to CZK 18.7 billion (65% transfer payments from the government, 25% intra-state transport, 10% international transport), revenues from freight transport operated by subsidiary ČD Cargo amounted to CZK 11.8 billion, revenues from traffic control invoiced to state-owned railway infrastructure operator SŽDC amounted to CZK 5.2 billion. With thirty-eight thousand employees[1] ČD Group is the largest Czech company by the number of employees.
The company was established in 1993, after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia as a successor of the Czechoslovak State Railways. It is a member of the International Railway Union (UIC Country Code for Czech Republic is 54), Community of European Railways and the Organization for Railways Cooperation (Asia and Europe).
Until 1 July 2008, České dráhy was the biggest employer in the Czech Republic. After experiencing regular losses and requiring government subsidies, the railway reported its first ever profit in 2007 although it receives government subsidies. Attempts to make it more efficient are currently ongoing and a recent plan to move passenger transport to an independent subsidiary was approved by the Czech government in January 2008.
ČD operates trains; fixed infrastructure (such as tracks) is managed by SŽDC. In December 2010, the Czech government proposed bringing SŽDC and ČD together in a single holding company. The government has also changed the subsidies available to ČD and SŽDC.
ČD Cargo, the cargo subsidiary, mainly transports raw materials, intermediate goods and containers. As of 2009, it is ranked in the top five largest railway cargo operators in Europe.

Prague (/ˈprɑːɡ/; Czech: Praha, [ˈpraɦa] ( listen)) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the fifteenth-largest city in the European Union.[5] It is also the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava River, the city is home to about 1.24 million people, while its larger urban zone is estimated to have a population of nearly 2 million.[6] The city has a temperate climate, with warm summers and chilly winters. The origin of the name Praha is rather associated with the word prah (that means a 'threshold'), which is a rapid on the river. More info

Sports Hall Roof COLLAPSES During Match in Czech Republic
Around 80 people had to run for their lives after a sports hall roof collapsed during a floorball game. The incident happened in Ceska Trebova, in the north-eastern part of the Czech Republic. Dramatic footage shows the match taking place before all the players and spectators suddenly sprinting for the exit as the ceiling starts to cave in. Two boys suffered minor injuries but everyone else escaped unhurt. Although the incident was preceded by several days of heavy snow, leaving a 25-centimetre (10-inch) layer on the roof, experts believe the building had a construction flaw. The hall was opened on January 2 this year.
Moravská Třebova, Czech Republic
Moravská Třebova is possibly Moravia's most underrated tourist destination.

Plzen, Czech Republic, 7th July 2012
This town in western Bohemia is not far from the German border and so is very much, geographically, as well as culturally, in central Europe rather than 'Eastern' Europe. The architectural styles are a distinct blend, very colourful as well as pictorial and human-scale. The Automobile Association's routefinder puts it on the map between Budapest and the Channel ports due to the new motorway network which helps you to bypass Prague (if you want to). We timed it as 5 hours from Budapest and 10 hours from Dunkerque.
