Our House in Chudcice, Czech Republic

Where: Chudcice, Czech Republic
When: October 2019

We stayed in the Czech Republic for summer from the end of July until the middle of October. For the first couple of weeks we were based in Breclav and visiting friends. And then moved to this house we rented in Chudcice (near Brno) until we left Czech in mid-October.

We didn't get around to making a video of it though until the day we left though, lol! Here's a quick tour of the house and lovely big garden.

4K Czech Republic walk: Kolín old town, Church of St Bartholomew - 🇨🇿 HDR ASMR

Today, in our 4K Czech Republic walk, we will leave Prague and go to the city of Kolín, which is located 50 km to the east. We will walk a small circle through the historic central part of this city.

Kolín is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 32,000 inhabitants. It lies some 50 kilometers east of Prague, on the Elbe River. The town center is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument reservation. Ptolemy's world map mentioned Budorgis in the Kolín's area in the 2nd century. Kolín was founded by King Ottokar II of Bohemia in the 13th century by relocation when floods threatened Starý Kolín (Old Kolín), and the king decided to move the settlement. The first written mention of Kolín was from 1261 when it was mentioned that Přelouč obtained town privileges, same as Kolín and Kouřim have. It lied on a trade route Prague–Český Brod–Čáslav–Moravia.
In 1437–1438, a castle was founded in Kolín. It was built on ruins of a burned-down monastery. During the Thirty Years' War, it was damaged, and in the 17th century, it was rebuilt into a brewery. In 1911, the castle burned down, and its Renaissance look disappeared.

The Church of St. Bartholomeus in Kolín is a critical Gothic cultural monument in the Central Bohemian Region. The sacral building, originally dated from the 13th century, was built at the request of King Přemysl Otakar II. and has been under reconstruction over the centuries. The court builder of the Czech king and Roman emperor Charles IV Petr Parléř contributed to its reconstruction. A high cathedral choir with a wreath of chapels to the church was added. A prismatic bell tower was added in the 16th century. The Church of St. Bartholomew is on the list of national cultural monuments in the Czech Republic.

Prague Vltava river sunset walking tour: Amazing views and nutria 🇨🇿 Czech Republic 4k HDR ASMR

Our walking tour will take tonight in Prague in the evening, at sunset, at the most beautiful place in the city, on the Vltava embankment. We'll walk along the Alšovo and Smetana Embankment, say hello to friendly nutria, and enjoy amazing views of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge!

00:00 Alšovo Embankment (Alšovo nábřeží) is a vital transport road, even though it is located away from the tourist center. The waterfront and the Na Františku monastery complex are adjacent to the waterfront. Interestingly, the embankment in the area of František was the only section where the Old Town did not have walls under Wenceslas I against the Vltava. The team of the waterfront from today's Pařížská to Dušní Street used to be a part of Sanytrová Street until the 19th century. There used to be a spa on the coast, fences with wood, and the production of sanitary or saltpeter. The embankment was built here in 1904 and has been called Dvořákovo since the beginning. However, in some periods, its entire eastern part was referred to as Na Františku Street. There are two important buildings on the waterfront - the Faculty of Law of Charles University and the building of the CTU Conservatory.

06:00 Charles Bridge (Karlův most) is a medieval stone arch bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague, Czech Republic. Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV and finished in the early 15th century. The bridge replaced the old Judith Bridge built in 1158–1172, which a flood severely damaged in 1342. This new bridge was initially called Stone Bridge (Kamenný most) or Prague Bridge (Pražský most) but has been referred to as Charles Bridge since 1870.
The bridge is 516 meters (1,693 ft) long and nearly 10 meters (33 ft) wide. Following the example of the Stone Bridge in Regensburg, it was built as a bow bridge with 16 arches shielded by ice guards. It is protected by three bridge towers, two on the Lesser Quarter side (including the Malá Strana Bridge Tower) and one on the Old Town side, the Old Town Bridge Tower. The bridge is decorated by a continuous alley of 30 statues and statuaries, mostly baroque-style, originally erected around 1700, but now all have been replaced by replicas.
Charles Bridge has suffered several disasters and witnessed many historical events. Czech legend has it that construction began on Charles Bridge at 5:31 am on 9 July 1357, with the first stone being laid by Charles IV himself. This time was crucial to the Holy Roman Emperor because he was a firm believer in numerology and felt that this specific time, which formed a palindrome (1357 9/7 5:31), was a numerical bridge and would imbue Charles Bridge with additional strength. The bridge was completed 45 years later, in 1402.

11:30 The Smetana Embankment (Smetanovo nábřeží) in the Old Town of Prague runs along the right bank of the Vltava from the Legion Bridge to Charles Bridge. It is named after the world-famous Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, who had a music school here in the Lažanský Palace from 1868–to 1869. The Smetana Embankment was built between 1841-and 1845; it was initially called Old Town Embankment; later, in 1894, it was renamed Františe Embankment, and from 1919 it was called Masaryk Embankment. During World War II, it held two names; between 1940 and 1942, it was the Vltava Embankment, and then from 1942 to 1945, Reinhard Heydrich Ufer. It had the name of the first president of Czechoslovakia, T.G. Masaryk, again after the war, and later it got its current name – Smetana Embankment. Named after Bedřich Smetana, a prolific and distinguished Czech composer, the embankment is an ideal area for strolls, relaxing, and sunbathing and boasts a magnificent view of Prague Castle, especially in the morning or evening when the sun is low. At night this area becomes alive with clubbing as the endless bars and clubs open up to locals and tourists. You won't regret going out and spending the night dancing in one of the famous clubs.

Prague Castle ( Pražský hrad) is a castle complex in Prague, Czech Republic, built in the 9th century. It is the official office of the President of the Czech Republic. The castle was a seat of power for the kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman emperors, and presidents of Czechoslovakia. The Bohemian Crown Jewels are kept in a hidden room inside it. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world, occupying an area of almost 70,000 square meters (750,000 square feet), at about 570 meters (1,870 feet) in length and an average of about 130 meters (430 feet) wide. The castle is among Prague's most visited tourist attractions, attracting over 1.8 million visitors annually.

Exploring the Town of Kutna Hora | Czech Republic Vlog

Kutna Hora is about an hour away to the east from Prague and is the perfect destination for a day trip from the city. Kutna Hora is home to amazing churches from St. Barbara's Cathedral to the famous Sedlac Ossuary aka the Bone Church. I head out to Kutna Hora to check out the different churches, get some lunch at Dacicky in town, and check out some cool sights around the town. Due to photography restrictions, I was not permitted to film inside any of the churches including the Bone Church, but there is footage online of the Bone Church as photography was permitted before 2020.
