Trip to Lankaran and Astara
Oh yes, I found new love in my country😍- Southern Azerbaijan🌸 Lankaran reminded me of Batumi and Kobuleti, so when you feel Georgia-sick, it’s the best region to go to! As we firstly couldn’t find suitable accommodation, I almost lost hopes for having my long-awaited trip, but my Dad’s perseverance solved the issue😊
Astara is just 33 kms away from Lankaran, that's why it would be great to go there as well. In this trip, I could only explore Sim village in Astara, yet there are much more places left to discover. It was quite hard to find this village, we were asking locals for the directions all our way, so I recommend you to find an Azeri guide, or an Azeri friend as your travel partner.
Summer in the South is very humid, but May is perfect to visit the region.

Astara / Azerbaijan
Astara is a small picturesque Caspianport town, on the Azerbaijan-Iran border.
Astara rayon is very wooded with 37,000 ha (370 km2) of forests. Famous Juglans sigillata is a commonplace in Astara woods. Astarachay and Tangarud rivers that flow through the rayon start at Talysh Mountains which are in the western part of the rayon.
Highest peaks are 200 m (660 ft) above sea level.
There are two main theories for the etymology of the city's name. One is that it derived from the Persian or Talyshword (Aste-ro or Aheste-ro), meaning the place where the travel gets slower (given the arshlands that surrounded the region before). The oldest theory comes from Vedic songs and writings which explains
Astara as a place where the rays of lights shine from behind to light the pathways ahead.
There are over 400 historical and architectural monuments in the region, among them a tower in Shindan village often called Babek tower among the folk, ancient tower in Nudis village, Mashadi Abutalıb bath house, Hajı Teymur and Haji Jahanbakhish mosques in Pansar village, tomb in Shahaghaj village, Karbalayi Hamid Abdulla bath house in Archivan village. Archivan village is also rich with famous sulphur - rich springs, which if ignited lights up. In addition, ancient fortress gates, 7th century tomb, caravanserai, stone monuments pertaining to Stone and Bronze Ages in Gapichimahalle village, ruins of 8th century bridges in Sipiyapart, Lomin and Palikash villages are a major tourist attraction.

The road from Ardabil to Heyran, Astara, is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable roads in Iran. The road is lined with green fields, creeks, and villages. The scenery is so good that you can imagine yourself as an artist, painting the landscape in your head. The road is also a great place to get some exercise. You can run, walk, or bike the entire way. When you reach Heyran and take a break for lunch, the view from the restaurant is spectacular.
The scenery in Iran is breathtaking and it’s easy to see why people love traveling there. When I was traveling in North Iran, I visited a couple of cities Such as Sareyn, Ardabil, and Astara but one of my favorites was Heyran. The Amazing Heyran Road and Area have been around for a long time been a great place to walk through and explore the natural beauties. If you have the time, I highly recommend going to Heyran and camp and seeing the sights.

Heyran is a beautiful village located 30 km from Astara County, Gilan Province, Iran. Heyran is a cluster of three villages: Heyran-e Sofla, Heyran-e Vosta, and Heyran-e Olya.
The green fantastic Heyran Mountain Pass, with a length of 35 kilometers, displays a unique landscape of nature that is unique in Iran. This pass often covered with fog, with the valleys and foothills covered with rich meadow where the cattle are grazing, and the fantastic view of beehives are the first scenes that make people amazed.
