Here’s a basic cost breakdown of my Ethiopia trip with Abyssinian Nomads:
1. Omo valley: $200-250 per day with a local tour operator.
Includes guide, 4X4 land cruiser, camping equipment. Half board meals, lodges/hotels and entrance fees to all point of interests.
2. Simien mountains: $150 - 250 per day
Price includes local guides, 4x4 land cruiser, camping equipment. All parks and point of interest entrance fees. Comes with chef and park scout as well. There is a luxury lodge option for increased price.
3. Addis Ababa: $50 to $300 per day depending on style of travel
Higher prices would include hotel accommodation, famous city tour and coffee ceremony. With local guide and food tour.
4. Danakil Depression: $150-200 per day
It is advised to only travel in this region with local tour operators due to security concerns. Price includes 4x4 land cruiser, local guides, camping equipment, all park and point of interest fees, half board meals and a park scout from the Afar region to escort entire trip.
Lalibela: $100-250
Upper price includes local tour guide, 4x4 land cruiser, hotel/lodge accommodation. Half board meal and entrance to all Rock Churches of Lalibela.

Bethel area is a one of the highest populated planned suburbs of Addis Ababa. In this area is the famous hospital that was built before any infrastructure was built in 2000.
Addis Ababa (/ˌædɪs ˈæbəbə/;[5] Amharic: አዲስ አበባ, lit. 'new flower' [adˈdis ˈabəba] (listen)), also known as Finfinne[6] (lit. natural spring in Oromo),[7] is the capital and largest city of Ethiopia. It also serves as the seat of the government of Oromia: while being outside of Oromia regional state boundaries.[8][9][10] In the 2007 census, the city's population was estimated to be 2,739,551 inhabitants.[2] Addis Ababa is a highly developed and important cultural, artistic, financial and administrative centre of Ethiopia.[11] Wikipedia
In the 15th century, Addis Ababa was depicted as a fortified place named Barara and served as a residence of the Emperors of Ethiopia until Dawit II. Barara was completely destroyed during the Ethiopian–Adal War and Oromo expansions. The founding history of Addis Ababa dates back in late 19th-century by Menelik II, Negus of Shewa, in 1886 after finding Mount Entoto unpleasant two years prior.[12] At the time, the city was a resort town; its large mineral spring abundance attracted nobilities of the empire, led them to establish permanent settlement. It also attracted many members of the working classes — including artisans and merchants — and foreign visitors. Menelik II then formed his imperial palace in 1887.[13][14] Addis Ababa became the empire's capital in 1889, and subsequently international embassies were opened.[15][16] Addis Ababa urban development began at the beginning of the 20th century, and without any preplanning.[12] Wikipedia
Addis Ababa saw a wide-scale economic boom in 1926 and 1927, and an increase in the number of buildings owned by the middle class, including stone houses filled with imported European furniture. The middle class also imported newly manufactured automobiles and expanded banking institutions.[15] During the Italian occupation, urbanization and modernization steadily increased by a master plan which they hoped Addis Ababa would be more colonial city and continued after their occupation. Consequent master plans were designed by French and British consultants from 1940s onwards focusing on monumental structures, satellite cities and inner-city. Alem Bank is one of Addis Ababa's quietest and cleanest housing areas. By the way, when we go up to the main asphalt, it is a very busy area with big shops and markets. For this video, I did it on a quiet road in a residential village. It was a pleasant, quiet atmosphere. I was very happy to go there. Wale with me and you will see the other side of Addis Ababa.

I spent my final morning in the historic city of Lalibela visiting the stunning Biete Giyorgis (Church of St. George), before heading to the airport to catch a mid-day flight to Addis Ababa, the bustling capital of Ethiopia.
My first day in Addis Ababa was productive, albeit brief, as I checked into my hotel in the late afternoon, then proceeded by foot to the Edna Mall area, where I visited the city's stunning Biete Medhane Alem Cathedral - the second largest Christian church on the African continent. I enjoyed being back in civilization and enjoying all the creature comforts that big city life has to offer, recuperating after my relatively arduous travels through the country's north.

Medhane Alem School is one of the famous high school in Addis Ababa. I guess it's a childhood memory for many. I started working at Paulus Hospital and walked to Shegole, passing Filans, at the School of Medhane Alem. The morning sun was warming my back, but I tried to stop when I reached the school. The condition of the road was not very conducive to stopping.
I was happy and relaxed walk.
Medhane Alem School was founded by His imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I. It was the fourth Ethiopian modern school after Menilik II, Teferi Mekonnen and Empress Mennen School for Girls. It opened its doors as a boarding school, on Tikimt 27 1924 E.C. (October 17 1931) for 85 orphans to pursue academic & vocational training. The then famous architect, Lij Hailemariam Gezmu, was appointed as the first principal of the school. There were five Ethiopian, four French teachers and a large contingent of auxiliary staff.
By the way, the baby we see on the cover is kneeling at the door of the pharmacy. I tried to see what he wanted to see. TV is on and a movie is on. That was what the child saw. He is having fun in his own world.

መድኃኔዓለም ት/ቤት የተመሰረተው በንጉሠ ነገሥት ቀዳማዊ ኃይለ ሥላሴ ሲሆን ከዳግማዊ ምኒልክ፣ ከተፈሪ መኮንን እና ከእቴጌ መንነን የሴቶች ትምህርት ቤት ቀጥሎ አራተኛው ዘመናዊ ትምህርት ቤት ነበር። በጥቅምት 27 1924 (እ.ኤ.አ. ጥቅምት 17 1931) ለ85 ወላጅ አልባ ህጻናት የአካዳሚክ እና የሙያ ስልጠና እንዲከታተሉ እንደ አዳሪ ትምህርት ቤት በሩን ከፈተ። በወቅቱ ታዋቂው አርክቴክት ልጅ ኃይለማርያም ገዝሙ የትምህርት ቤቱ የመጀመሪያ ርዕሰ መምህር ሆነው ተሾሙ። አምስት ኢትዮጵያውያን፣ አራት ፈረንሣይ መምህራን እና ብዙ ረዳት ሰራተኞች ነበሩ።

This is the external part of Saint Selassie Ethiopian and Christian Orthodox Church-The church is also the Trinity Cathedral that has a Museum apart. It is found in Addis Abeba which is the capital city of Ethiopia.
The holy Trinity Cathedral church in Addis Abeba has been appoint of interest for the city’s visitors for many years. It is one of the most magnificent churches in Addis Ababa and the large dome and slender crystal chandler. Many notable paintings and murals. The church contains the tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie and the burial ground of many patriots who lost their lives during the five –year invasion of Ethiopia from 1935-1941.
The Trinity (Saint Selassie) Ethiopian and Christian Orthodox cathedral Church s administration in Addis Abeba has preserved a variety of ecclesiastical articles in the crypt under the church where they can be seen by tourists.
Addis Ababa is the capital of Ethiopia and rises to more than 2,400 meters above sea level making it the highest capital in Africa.
