Roquetas de Mar in Spain
Roquetas de Mar is a Spanish fishing town just 15 minutes by car from the provincial capital, Almería. It is famed not only for its fishing traditions, which are preserved today through gastronomy and annual festivals, but also as a coastal resort town. In 2016, the population was 91,965, the municipality with the second highest population in the province behind the capital, the 14th in Andalucía and the 69th in Spain.
The 'urbanización' of Roquetas is predominantly a Spanish holiday resort for the majority of the summer months, but it also receives many visitors from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany. It is one of the two major resorts in Costa de Almería, the other being Mojácar.
Roquetas de Mar is served by the Autovía A-7 on its outskirts and is linked to the town itself by the A-1051. It is the second-largest town in Spain without a rail link behind Marbella; in 2020 a proposal was submitted to build a railway from Almería to Adra via Roquetas and El Ejido.
The best things to do in Roquetas de Mar (“Roquetas” for short) include strolling the seafront. It has one of the widest and cleanest beaches on Spain’s southern coast. There’s even a beautifully tiled promenade you can use to enjoy the Mediterranean seascapes. The well-developed and sunny beach resort town is mostly uncrowded, which can be a big bonus if you’re looking for some peace and quiet.
Roquetas is a great choice if you’re travelling as a family, with a few great features to keep even the youngest family member happy. ????Parc de Josep Maria Serra Martí????
The Josep Maria Serra Martí Park is located in the Nou Barris District of Barcelona . It was created in 1994 by Cinto Hom and Carles Casamor .
The park is dedicated to Josep Maria Serra Martí (Barcelona, 1927-1991), an industrial engineer and socialist politician , who was Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning and Municipal Services of Barcelona and one of the promoters of the 1992 Olympic Games.
The park is located in the Canyelles neighborhood , touching the Ronda de Dalt . It is a neighborhood area, where one day a week an open-air market is organized. Being on a terrain with a certain unevenness, it is structured in platforms separated by green slopes, with a multipurpose esplanade in the center. The nerve center of the park is the Manuel de Falla Magic Fountain, the work of Pedro Barragán , made up of a pond that houses a metal platform from which the water cascades down, and two large rocks next to some water jets; It also has games of light and sound, hence the name magic fountain. Also on site is a sculpture of a bailaora flamenco entitled Joys, by Ignasi Farreras . The park also has a children's area and ping-pong tables .

The Torre Baró neighborhood occupies the place where two towers were previously built by the Pinós family - during the 16th and 18th centuries. At the beginning of the 20th century, the construction of modest houses began on one of the slopes that comes down from the Roquetes hill, with steep slopes. In fact, the newcomers built their own houses. The incessant population increase reached its climax in the 1950s and 1960s, with the great wave of worker immigration that reached the city.
Despite the demographic pressure on the city, the steep slopes of the neighborhood prevented overcrowding. For this reason, for many years, the neighborhood lacked communication networks and urban equipment in general. The actions of the administrations have improved the communications network, especially from the Vallbona avenue, which connects it with the rest of the district's neighborhoods, and transport, with the presence of buses and the metro.
Today, the neighborhood is presented to us as a space with steep slopes, winding streets that adapt to the relief and humble self-built houses that survive the passage of time.

Tarragona is a city located in the south of Catalonia, Spain, on the Mediterranean coast, on the Costa Dorada. It is the capital of the province of Tarragona and the region of Tarragonès.
In Roman times, it was the capital of the province of Tarragona, which is why it still preserves notable archaeological remains from the time, such as the amphitheater or the walls. It is next to other twelve Spanish populations Patrimony of the Humanity of UNESCO.
The origins of Tarragona date back to the third century BC, when there was an Iberian population called Kesse, which gave its name to the tribe that lived in the area.
After the Roman conquest, Kesse was enlarged and fortified by Publius and Publius Cornelius Scipio the African who turned the city into the base against the Carthaginians. It received the name of Tarraco and later became the capital of the province of Tarraconense. Augustus spent the winter in Tarraco during the Cantabrian campaign (27 BC), at which time the city grew and received the title of Colonia Urbs Triumphalis Tarraconensis.
After the fall of the Roman Empire, the Germanic peoples arrived. The Visigothic king Eurico sacked and destroyed the city in 480. Thus, the majestic Roman capital would be virtually depopulated south of the new capital, Barcelona. The city was recovering population until being one of the most important metropolises of Hispania, but it did not arrive at the levels of the Roman time. The Christian community was important, led by the Archbishop of Tarraco.
The Arabs reached Tarraco in 719 and the armies of Mussa ibn Nussayr razed the city. When the Caliphate of Córdoba disappeared, it was part of the taifa of Zaragoza and later of the taifa of Tortosa. For many years, the border between Christians and Muslims was established between the rivers Gaià and Llobregat, turning the area of Tarragona into no man's land.
The 1116 takes place the Christian recapture of Tarragona on the part of the troops of Ramon Berenguer III. The city began to grow with settlers from northern Catalonia. At the beginning of the 13th century, the great square of the Roman forum was urbanized and the city became an important center of power in Catalonia. The first neighborhoods outside the walls began to emerge. In May 1348 the Black Death came, causing the inhabitants to return to the interior of the walls. At the beginning of the 15th century, the city recovered from the plague until the Catalan wars left it badly affected.
Between the 16th and 17th centuries, the city was an important center of power in southern Catalonia. The battles between the Castilian and Catalan troops during the War dels Segadors and, especially, the repression after the War of Succession were important.
The city tolerated the passage of Napoleon's troops through the area, but rebelled when they wanted to settle. In the middle of the 19th century, a process of industrialization began and trade developed.
