The Turó de la Peira park (Parc del Turó de la Peira in Catalan) is located in the Nou Barris district, being the oldest and most natural in the area, since it was inaugurated in 1936 .
It covers an area of almost 8 hectares of scrub and lush pine forests remarkable for other plant species located in the westernmost part of the neighborhood to which the park gives its name. The hill belonged to the Can Peguera estate, which gives its name to the neighboring neighborhood .
At the beginning of the sixties the extension of the park was reduced due to the rapid construction of houses, based on a partial plan typical of the pre-democratic era, with an urbanization without services and with poor quality housing. It was not until 1977 that the affected area was replanted. The upper zone did survive, just as it did during the Civil War . In March 2007 , a comprehensive rehabilitation of the park was carried out and all its services and infrastructures were updated.
Crowned by a viewpoint with a large metal cross, from where we can see much of the district and much of the city of Barcelona . Inside, steep paths between pine trees or stairs facilitate access to its different services.
It has a children's play area, table tennis tables , basketball , volleyball and soccer courts , a dog area , toilets and parking , as well as numerous fountains and benches and areas with tables and chairs for picnics . (from Wikipedia)
