Nature and Activity Guide to Costa Brava, Spain [Adventure Sports Costa Brava]

Welcome to Costa Brava, here is a guide to some of the nature and activities on offer in the region.

This nature and activity guide shows you all the fantastic things you can do in the region of Costa Brava in Catalunya, Spain

Only in Costa Brava can you have the thrill of climbing the one Via Ferrata route above the sea in all of Europe, or skydive ten months a year from one of the best drop zones in the world, Empuriabrava. Not only that but you can also Kayak along the stunning Riu Ter, golf till your heart's content, and hike to ancient castles with views for miles… all under the perfect summer sun.

We kayaked the Riu Ter, hiked up to the ancient castle of Montgri and we skydived in Empuriabra, which is one of the top skydiving spots in Europe.
We tried out the only Via Ferrata above the sea, Cala Moli in Sant Feliu de Guixols, which was super fun. And the Costa Brava is also known for its golf courses so we shot a few balls at the Pitch and Putt golf course in Gualta.

After so much fun and things to do, we enjoyed the spa of the Ballena Alegre campground.

Overall it was a fantastic end to a fun-filled experience trying out a few of the different activities available in Costa Brava.

Breathtaking Mediterranean Seacoast Walk from L’Escala to Estartit in Catalonia | GR 92 Day 11

For Day 11 we planned to hike from the town L’Escala to Estartit doing 15kms. We saw on the map that there were some uphills and downhills and a major 100m climb to do on the way. The day was spectacular with lots of amazing panoramic seacoast views and cliff hiking and lots of small hidden beaches in the rocks.

Lots of BEACH WALKING -Platja de Sant Pere Pescador & Les Dunes to L’Escala in Catalonia|GR92-Day 10

For Day 10 we had a big plan to do 20kms, get through the beaches Platja de Sant Pere Pescador and Platja de Les Dunes and finally to the village L'Escala. It shouldn't have taken us much effort as the route was going practically flat all the way through. But we knew that we were going to deviate from the GR trail and walk closer to the beach instead so we couldn't be sure about how long it was going to take us. And also it was depending a lot on the weather. We ended up doing a lot of sand walking that day which was definitely a highlight.

Catalonia is easily accessible within Europe as many low cost carriers frequently fly in and out of Barcelona and Girona airports. There are other airlines that fly in and out internationally.

We based ourselves in L'Escala, located on the Costa Brava. To get to many of the featured destinations we used public transportation (see links below). Our trip consisted of 9 full days and 2 half days in which we had the pleasure of sharing with family and friends!

L'Escala itself is located in close proximity of other coastal towns and is surrounded my many beautiful beaches with many activities to offer. To top it all off, there are many great cafés and restaurants to keep you happy!

Please don't hesitate to drop a comment in the comment section below if you have any questions, we'd be happy to help!
