Merter is a district of Istanbul between Güngören and Bahçelievler.
The Merter region covers an area of 500,000 square meters and houses about 3,700 companies.
Merter's neighbors are Zeytinburnu in the south, Keresteciler site and Güngören in the north, Topkapı in the east, Bahçelievler in the west.
The establishment of Merter dates back to the 1960s. It was a place with vineyards and fields at that time. The place where Veysel Karani Mosque is now is the center of the district. Ahmet Merter, who was the chief of Kırkpınar in 1958 and 1959, realized the idea of establishing a large and modern site here. He named the site he founded as Merter Site. The name of this district, which has developed and grown over the years, is known as Merter. It is textile heaven. It is one of the cheapest districts of Istanbul with wholesalers, affordable sales and house prices. There are also sports and course centers in the district. Transportation opportunities are very wide and it is a well-known district for being in a central location. However, it is not enough for a cinema, theater and cultural activities yet. Important transportation vehicles such as Metrobus and Metro pass through here. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality annex building is also here.

TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN ISTANBUL
Istanbul is thriving with culture, cuisine, landmarks and history. While it is hard to fit it all in just a few days, this is enough of a reason to return time and time again. Istanbul airport really connects the world and Turkish Airlines offers flights from cities around the globe. I was really satisfied with the airline and it has a great stopover program if you are traveling from Europe to the US or perhaps traveling east. Whether your trip is long or short, I hope this guide will help you in planning your stay. Get acquainted with the city by walking a lot, but also take a cruise down the Bosphorus river, which separates Europe from Asia. This boat ride is a great way to see how many of the locals work on one side but perhaps live on the other side of Istanbul. I was able to taste my way through the streets doing an amazing culinary tour with Culinary Backstreets! I have to admit Turkish cuisine quickly became a favorite cuisine of mine. This tour also really allows you connect with some locals while talking over local dishes! When it comes to landmarks there are so many to see, but some are crucial like Hagia Sophia and Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque). I found the most enjoyable experience was finding a rooftop bar at sunset to take in all architecture surrounding you. If you want to take a look into the local culture, you can also visit a hamam. This is a cleansing experience that might take you out of your comfort zone, but also appreciate local customs. The hamam architecture is absolutely stunning. Don't be startled if you are walking down the street and someone asks you if you want your fortune told. I found it to be a very nice experience and interesting way to enjoy my Turkish Coffee! Don't hold back in Istanbul, try to see as much as you can and appreciate all the colors, sights and smells in this fantastic city!
