????Parc del Turó de la Peira????

The Turó de la Peira park (Parc del Turó de la Peira in Catalan) is located in the Nou Barris district, being the oldest and most natural in the area, since it was inaugurated in 1936 .
It covers an area of almost 8 hectares of scrub and lush pine forests remarkable for other plant species located in the westernmost part of the neighborhood to which the park gives its name. The hill belonged to the Can Peguera estate, which gives its name to the neighboring neighborhood .

At the beginning of the sixties the extension of the park was reduced due to the rapid construction of houses, based on a partial plan typical of the pre-democratic era, with an urbanization without services and with poor quality housing. It was not until 1977 that the affected area was replanted. The upper zone did survive, just as it did during the Civil War . In March 2007 , a comprehensive rehabilitation of the park was carried out and all its services and infrastructures were updated.

Crowned by a viewpoint with a large metal cross, from where we can see much of the district and much of the city of Barcelona . Inside, steep paths between pine trees or stairs facilitate access to its different services.

It has a children's play area, table tennis tables , basketball , volleyball and soccer courts , a dog area , toilets and parking , as well as numerous fountains and benches and areas with tables and chairs for picnics . (from Wikipedia)

Walking in Barcelona: Parc del Turó del Putxet, Spain ????????, 4k, Summer , Nature

Walking in Barcelona: Parc del Turó del Putxet, Spain ????????, 4k, Summer , Nature
Placed above the Hill of Putxet, this park is one of the most privileged viewpoints in Barcelona. It has abundant and varied vegetation in species, some of which are very rare.

History
The Putxet is a small mountain of 178 meters between Vallcarca and Sant Gervasi. In spite of a chapel of the XVII, the first vestiges of settlement known are around 1870, when the bourgeoisie of Barcelona began to build towers to move around due to the urban conditions of the old Barcelona. The lands were part of the old Torre Spain estate, of the Morató family. In 1917 it was included in the planning of green areas, which reserved the hills as natural spaces. Over time, however, he went urbanizing. When in 1970 the City Council expropriated the lands of the current gardens, the ancient Mediterranean forest had become, from the first third of the 20th century, in a quarry. He contributed to the use of fuel that was made during the Civil War of pinewood.

Landscaping and design
Despite the inclination of the terrain, it is a good place to take a walk, and they are quite frequented by the neighborhood to cross it, either up or down, avoiding traffic.
These gardens are much more accessible than it may first seem, since obstacles are often more than stretches of stairs. Except access to the highest part of the hill, the gardens can be crossed from one end to the other without stepping on a step.
In March 2011, the surface of the gardens increased with the incorporation into the park of a new 1.2 hectare landscaped area. Thus, the gardens have grown to reach the 5.2 hectares of green space, which have added new views over the city and the sea to the magnificent panoramic views already offered on the city.
The extension has ordered this part of the park at different levels or terraces. These terraces are interconnected by lined ramps of landscaped areas. The reorganization of the space has allowed to open a new area for children's games, a picnic area with tables and a new area of dogs.

Walking in Barcelona: Parc del Turó, Spain ????????, 4K, summer, nature walk, tourism

Walking in Parc del Turó, Barcelona, Spain ????????, 4K, summer, nature walk, tourism
A space that was formerly home to an amusement park is now a secluded park dedicated to music and poetry. Turó Park, inaugurated in 1934, still conserves many of its original trees, a pond covered with lily pads that bloom in the spring and a collection of sculptures that pay homage to musicians and poets from the period.

Why visit Turó Park?
Turó Park, which takes its name from the amusement park that occupied the site until 1929, is one of Barcelona’s most emblematic green spaces. The park, designed by Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí and dedicated to the poet Eduard Marquina, is a large and elegant garden, with a hundred-year-old carob tree, laurels, magnolias, poplars, palm trees, holm oaks and a pond surrounded by trees.
Another notable feature is the sculptures located throughout the park. In fact, there are two routes to discover the park’s secrets. If you follow the botanic route, you can observe in more detail all the trees, bushes, plants and flowers that make up the park’s rich plant life, whereas the poetic route takes you from sculpture to sculpture. The most significant ones include the one dedicated to the cellist Pau Casals, the Josep Clarà sculpture in honour of the tenor Francesc Viñas and, in the meadow La ben plantada, by Eloïsa Cerdan, a piece in bronze in homage to the writer Eugeni d’Ors.

????Nou Barris district????

Nou Barris (in Spanish , Nueve Barrios ) is a district of Barcelona located in the extreme north of the city, between the Collserola mountains and Meridiana avenue.

Politically, the district experienced strong activity led by neighborhood associations throughout Francoism , in response to the disorderly urbanism and developmental imbalances of the 1960s and 1970s .
The name of the district was put in 1984 when the Barcelona City Council approved a new territorial division of the city, and comes from the head of the magazine 9BARRIOS , published by the first neighborhood association in the area in the early 1970s. . An important part of Nou Barris was within the old District 9 , together with part of the current San Andrés district .

One of the most impressive buildings in the district was the initially called Madhouse of the Holy Cross, more recently known and until its closure in 1986 as the Institut Mental de la Santa Creu. The original construction designed by Dr. Emili Pi i Molist (1824-1892) and by the architect Josep Oriol Bernadet (1811-1860), was one of the most brilliant examples of moral madhouse architecture in Europe. The building remained intact until 1970 , and its patrimonial value was much higher than other Oriol and Bernadet projects, such as Can Ricart. Designed between 1855 and 1860, its construction began in 1886and it didn't end until 1910-1915. It was surrounded by a 120-hectare farm, in which the future neighborhoods of La Guineueta, Canyelles, part of Verdún and the Peguera area would be built, after a speculative process that began in 1955 and ended in 1977 . Currently, part of the old building is in use by the Nou Barris District Municipal Council, the Nou Barris Popular Library, one of the largest in the city, the offices of the municipal company PRONOBA, a service center for homeless people, the district's user service office, the Guardia Urbana headquarters and the housing access information office.

In 1999 , the first phase of the Nou Barris Central Park was inaugurated and currently has an area of 17.7 hectares , being one of the largest parks in the city. (from Wikipedia)

????La Ribera????

La Ribera (Catalan pronunciation: [lə riˈβeɾə], 'The Shore') is one of the areas of the quarter of Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera of Ciutat Vella (the old city) of Barcelona.

Many of the buildings date from late Medieval times. It was a well-to-do quarter during 13th–15th centuries, when it really was by the sea shore, and the area that today is named Barceloneta was still an island. Notable buildings are the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar and the palaces along Carrer de Montcada, including the Museu Picasso, the Museu Barbier-Mueller d'Art Precolombí, and part of the Textile Museum.

The former market hall Mercat del Born covers archaeological ruins which were part of the La Ribera district that was demolished after the Siege of Barcelona (1713–14) and the defeat of Catalonia in the War of Succession. Another place of interest is the Fossar de les Moreres, the site of a mass grave of Catalan soldiers fallen during the siege of 1714. Part of the quarter of La Ribera was demolished after 1714 to build a military citadel to punish the defeated city.

The lower section of the La Ribera district, just below Carrer de la Princesa, and leading to Barceloneta is referred to as El Born after the 19th century market on carrer del Comerç that dominates the area. This is one of the trendiest and most touristic districts in the old city. It is a popular place for expats and contains many art boutiques, bars and cafés.

The northernmost part of the quarter, La Ribera proper and Sant Pere, in contrast to El Born, is not frequented by tourists so much, even though it is between Arc de Triomf and Via Laietana, and actually constitutes a much poorer area with a larger number of migrant workers. It is being revitalised, but as with many other instances of urban development in Barcelona, the process has been ethically contested. The Forat de la Vergonya area, near Santa Eulàlia Cathedral, is such an example. The Biblioteca Francesca Bonnemaison is a cultural institution of the neighbourhood.

Here's a 360° panoramic view from the summit of parc de la Creueta de Coll. This particular spot has an elevation of 219 meters based on my GPS reading. You can see the two other peaks (turó de Carmel with elevation of 266 meters and turó de la Rovira 262 meters) which together make up the tres turons.

The Parc dels Tres Turons actually consists of four parks: Creueta del Coll, Carmel, Güell, and Guinardó which combine a total of about 122 hectares.

????Monument to Doctor Robert????

The monument to Doctor Robert is a sculptural group located in the Plaza de Tetuán in Barcelona , in the Ensanche district . It is dedicated to Bartolomé Robert , a Catalan doctor and politician , mayor of Barcelona between March and October 1899. The monument is considered a Cultural Asset of Local Interest (BCIL) in the Inventory of Catalan Cultural Heritage with the code 08019/1598.

Dr. Robert was mayor for a short period of time, between March and October 1899, but he became popular for his opposition to the commercial and industrial taxes advocated by the Cabinet of Francisco Silvela and his Minister of Finance, Raimundo Fernández Villaverde , which led to a series of protests known as the closing of boxes . Due to this he had to resign, but he continued in politics, and in 1901 he was appointed president of the Regionalist League . However, the following year he died suddenly, and the idea of making a monument in his honor immediately arose, which was commissioned to the sculptor Josep Llimona . The architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner intervened in its design, although a year later he left the project. The site chosen was the University Square , where he laid the foundation stone on 31 January 1904. The work lasted six years, and finally the monument was inaugurated on 13 November 1910.

In 1940, after the Spanish Civil War , the new Francoist authorities decided to remove the monument, which was dismantled and stored in the municipal warehouse on Wellington Street. It remained there during the entire period of the dictatorship , although unfortunately two bronze figures (a man to whom the reaper shakes his hand and a flag) had been cast in the 1940s to make the image of La Merced located in the basilica of the same name .

In 1977, with the arrival of democracy , the restitution of the monument began to be considered in its original location, but some technical reports advised against this location due to the presence of the underground University metro station . Finally, its location was chosen in the Plaza de Tetuán , located at the crossroads between the Gran Vía de las Cortes Catalanas and the Paseo de San Juan , a central location in the Catalan capital. There it was located in the middle of gardens that were also baptized as Doctor Robert's Gardens, and next to the popular Fuente de la Sardana, a work by Frederic Marès from 1921. The architect intervened for its reconstructionJosep Miquel Casanovas , the artificial stone industrialist Josep Peraire and the sculptor Enric Devenat . The restored monument was inaugurated on May 15, 1985 by the kings of Spain, Juan Carlos I and Doña Sofía , and the mayor of Barcelona, Pasqual Maragall .

????Casa Oller????

La Casa Oller , also known as Casa Ramón Oller is a residential building located on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes , number 658, in the district of the Eixample . It is the most remarkable work of the architect Pau Salvat i Espasa . In 2014-15 it underwent a new refurbishment and was transformed into a luxury office and apartment building.

This building is the most significant work of Pau Salvat i Espasa; however, it is actually a refurbishment carried out, from 1900 onwards, of a pre-existing building. Before it was a characteristic house in the Eixample, between medians, which was built in 1871 under the direction of the master builder Eduard Fontseré. Salvat, as a follower of the aesthetics of Puig i Cadafalch , resorted to a decoration inspired by the medieval world and the popular artisan tradition. Its dominion can be appreciated, in this field, as much in the sgraffito, the ceramics as in the forge, with virtuosities like the one to embed vegetal reasons in iron in the petri capitals of the main door.
The façade is symmetrical, with an empty central strip and marked on the main one by an iron and glass tribune, and by a relief with the date at the top. On either side, there are pairs of balconies of vertical composition. This verticality closes the last floor which, under the patent eaves that culminates the building, turns the two balconies on the lower floors into three. Also noteworthy is the main staircase, located in the central courtyard, in the tradition of Catalan civil architecture.
The grandstand on the main floor is one of the most remarkable examples of this type of element in the Eixample, both for its design and for the combination of materials (wrought iron, glazed ceramics, smooth glass and leaded glass).
