La vallée de Soganli se trouve à proximité du restaurant. Nous avons entrepris une randonnée dans cette vallée. Celle-ci mérite le détour pour la beauté de ses paysages et ses églises rupestres décorées de fresques datant des IX et XI siècles.
Cette vallée a été formée par l'activité volcanique de la région. On y retrouve des cônes de tuf (roche formée de lave, cendre et boue).
Le trajet que nous avons entrepris est facile et monte tout doucement au sommet de la montagne. Nous avons une vue imprenable sur toute la vallée. C'est vraiment un endroit magnifique qui d'ailleurs n'est pas très fréquenté par les touristes.
Notre promenade s'est terminée au petit village de Soganli. C'est l'endroit idéal pour acheter entre autres, à prix très modique, les magnifiques petites poupées fabriquées par les femmes du village.

Restaurant Soğanlı Kapadokya - Yeşilhisar - Cappadoce - Turquie
Nous devions loger à l'hôtel Selcuklu Evi Cave, un hôtel offrant des chambres troglodytes. Finalement, nous avons été avisés que nous logerions plutôt à l'hôtel Burcu Kaya, un hôtel beaucoup moins typique.
Après un rafraîchissement de bienvenue, le temps de déposer nos valises dans nos chambres, nous sommes repartis en autobus en direction de la vallée de Soganli.
Nous nous sommes arrêtés au restaurant Soğanlı Cappadocia pour prendre le repas du midi. Des tables sont installées dans une cour extérieure. Le lieu est vraiment enchanteur. Nos hôtes étaient très sympathiques. Nous avons mangé un copieux repas et le tout était vraiment délicieux. Jugez-en par vous-même :

Kayseri-Niğde-Nevşehir üçgeninde yer alan Soğanlı Köyü, Yeşilhisar ilçe merkezine 15 km. mesafede, Kaya kiliseleri ve mağaraların bugünkü evler ile iç içe girdiği bir vadi içerisinde yer almaktadır.
Soğanlı Örenyeri Roma Dönemi’nden itibaren yerleşim alanı olarak kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Vadi yamaçlarında yer alan Kaya Mekanlarını; Romalılar mezarlık, Bizanslılar ise kilise olarak kullanmışlardır.
Soğanlı M.S. 4. Yüzyıldan itibaren Hıristiyanlığın Kapadokya’daki merkezlerinden biri olmuş ve önemini 7. ve 8. Yüzyıllarda da sürdürmüştür. Kiliselerde yer alan duvar freskleri, stil açısından 10-12. Yüzyılları yansıtmaktadır.
Soğanlı’da kayaya oyulmuş pek çok kilise ve manastır dışında binlerce güvercinlik, mağara ve barınaklar da mevcuttur.
Ihlara-Göreme ve Zelve Vadilerinde görülen kaya yerleşimlerini ve kiliselerin benzerlerini ve bunlardan farklı olarak kubbeli kaya kiliselerini de Soğanlı’da görmek mümkündür.
Tüflerin üzerinde kurulu olan Soğanlı Örenyeri’nde 50’ye yakın kaya kilisesi ve mağara mevcut olup, ancak bunlardan 8 adet kiliseyi gezmek mümkündür. Diğerlerinin kapısı ve pencereleri geçmiş yıllarda örülerek kapatılmıştır.
Kiliselerde mezarlar, İsa Peygamber ve havarilere ait resimlerile İncil’den sahnelerin yer aldığı freskler bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca örenyerinde bulunan peri bacaları, güzelliği ile Soğanlı Vadisi’ne ayrı bir renk katmaktadır.
Soğanlı Örenyeri’nde gezilebilen Kiliseler; Karabaş Kilise, Kubbeli Kilise, Tahtalı (Azize Barbara) Kilise, Yılanlı Kilise, Saklı Kilise,Tokalı Kilise, Ballık Kilise ve Geyikli Kilise’dir.
Soğanlı Köyü’nde köylü kadınlarca yapılarak bütün Kapadokya Bölgesi’nde satılan ve Soğanlı Bebeği adı ile ün yapan bez bebekler, köyün en önemli gelir kaynaklarından biridir.

Avanos, located on the Kızılırmak River (literally Red River), is a town famous for its beautiful pottery that has been produced there for millennia. The production process uses the clay extracted from Kızılırmak, with a characteristic reddish hue. However, Avanos is not only a ceramic workshop but also a charming town where it is possible to stroll along a riverside promenade. It is also an alternative accommodation base for exploring Cappadocia.
Restaurants
Surprisingly, it is relatively difficult to find a tasty meal in the restaurant in Avanos. Based on the observation of Turkish tourists we can conclude that the most popular eateries in town are McDonald's and Mado. McDonald's does not need further elaboration, but its popularity in Avanos is amazing - at lunchtime it is practically besieged. It is the only McDonald's restaurant in Cappadocia, and it is located on the northern bank of the river, on Atatürk Street No. 53.
On the opposite bank of the Kızılırmak River, in a large park, there is Mado café. This Turkish network began its career as an ice cream parlour, but over time its menu has been extended not only to other desserts but also to breakfasts and lunch dishes.
We have personally tested two restaurants serving Turkish cuisine in Avanos. The first of them was Urfa Sofrasi, boasting the preparation of typical dishes of the south-eastern Anatolia. Unfortunately, in our eyes, it fared very poorly as the portions were modest, the prices - unexpectedly high, and placing an order - very problematic because of the lack of dishes listed on the menu. The restaurant is located in the centre of Avanos, on Atatürk Street.
The second restaurant we tested - Restoran Zelve (38.719214, 34.847806) - fared much better. The spacious interior, an elegant design and a waiters bustling about made a slightly intimidating impression. Meanwhile, it turned out that it was worth a look. We welcomed plates of appetisers, especially cheese and hot bread, served while we waited for the main course. The star of the menu is so-called Cappadocia kebab, pared by the local chef. These are succulent cuts of beef roasted with vegetables in a clay pot.
Orientation
Avanos is divided into two parts - the northern and the southern ones - by Kızılırmak River, flowing through its centre. The areas located on the banks of the river are the very centre of Avanos, with hotels, guesthouses, offices, and ceramic workshops. The banks of Kızılırmak are also a great place for evening walks or a photo session with ducks. An interesting idea for tourists is the possibility to cruise on the river in a gondola in the Venetian style.
The route D300 from Nevşehir to Kayseri is the southern bypass of Avanos, and the road to Göreme through Çavuşin leads to the south from Avanos.
Nearby Avanos
In the vicinity of Avanos, it is worth to visit Sarıhan caravanserai, built during the Seljuk period. It stands 7 km to the east of Avanos centre (38.711799, 34.909582) and it is difficult to miss while travelling along the D300 road to Kayseri. In the evenings, whirling dervish ceremonies are organised there, for the entertainment of tourists, but the building can also be visited during the daytime. Admission is payable and costs 3 TL.
Aficionados of prehistory can search for two prehistoric mounds in the vicinity of Avanos. Avanos Tumulus is located 7 km west of the city (38.717899, 34.768214) and Zank Tumulus - 4 km to the north-west of Sarilar village.
In the district of Avanos there are also two places extremely popular among the tourists - Özkonak underground city (38.8068, 34.8414) and Çavuşin village (38.6735, 34.8395). In Çavuşin, there are ancient rock churches. Less well known but also very attractive sight of the district is Belha Monastery (38.790599, 34.823799).
Kebapzade Cappadocia Restaurant Review - Amazing Kebabs!!!
We stumbled upon Kebapzade when we were walking around Cappadocia near the Lunar hotel which you can see in my previous video. Kebapzade had incredible food and the inside of the restaurant was very nice.
They had windows that opened up to the outside as well as a giant wood burning oven that is visible from the seating area. Overall this ended up being a great place to eat, see our full review in the video.

The valley splits into northern and southern sections at the village of Yukarı Soğanlı ('Upper Soğanlı'). The valley was inhabited by Byzantine monks from the 9th to the 13th centuries AD. They are responsible for around a hundred churches that have been found in the valley and connected rock-cut houses and cloisters, most of which are now buried, ruined, or used as stables. The first museum in Kayseri was opened in 1930 in the historic Hunat Hatun Madrasa building. After outgrowing that structure, the museum was moved to a newly constructed building in 1969. Bird Paradise Sultan Marshes Sultan Pansion
Les Marais du Sultan est situé sur le chemin des routes migratoires des oiseaux passant par l'Afrique, l'Asie et l'Europe. En raison de l'importance des roseaux, il a été placé sous protection en tant que site Ramsar en 1994 et déclaré parc national en 2006.
Il compte plus de 400 espèces végétales, 5 extraordinaires habitats pour environ 300 espèces d'oiseaux aux besoins écologiques différents : se nourrir, s'abriter, se reproduire et incuber.
Dans le Parc National des Marais du Sultan , vous pouvez trouver 2 types d'eau, salée et douce. Tout près, le lac salé Yay abrite des flamants roses et des pélicans que vous pouvez observer chaque année de Mars à Novembre.
Notre pension attend ceux qui aiment se connecter avec la nature. Au milieu de la faune, vous aurez des expériences magnifiques parmi l'équitation, observation des oiseaux, des excursions en bateau et en jeep de 2 à 3 heures et de nombreuses autres activités mémorables.

The Marshes of the Sultan is located on the path of the migratory routes of birds passing through Africa, Asia and Europe. Due to the importance of the reeds, it was placed under protection as a Ramsar site in 1994 and declared a national park in 2006.
It has more than 400 plant species, 5 different precious habitats for about 300 species of birds with different ecological needs: to feed, shelter, mate and incubate.
In Sultan Marshes National Park, you can find 2 types of water, salt and fresh. Nearby, the salt lake Yay is home to flamingos and pelicans that you can observe every year from March to November.

Voyage à la région de Cappadoce en Turquie. Lieux à visiter ou choses à faire :
- les balades dans la vallée d'Ihlara à Aksaray en Anatolie.
- Passage chez DIKER çay bahcesi dans le canyon d'Ihlara.
- le fabuleux monastère de Selime avec son décor de Star Wars épisode 1.
La vallée d'Ihlara se situe en pleine Cappadoce. Pourtant ici, pas de cheminées de fée ni de cônes rocheux. La vallée ressemble plus à un grand canyon d'une quinzaine de kilomètres creusé entre deux falaises de plus de cent mètres de haut. Au milieu de ce canyon, la rivière Melendiz garantie un paysage plus traditionnel avec une végétation riche. Cependant, la vallée n'a pas été épargnée par l'arrivée des premiers chrétiens. Ici aussi, on trouve une multitude de petites églises ressemblant à celles de Göreme. Il y en avait une centaine à la base, une quinzaine peuvent aujourd'hui être visitées. Les premières furent creusées dès le VIe siècle, à époque où les Chrétiens de Syrie et de Palestine se sont réfugiés dans la vallée. La visite du canyon s'effectue sous la forme d'une randonnée qui dure quatre à cinq heures de marche. La vallée renferme deux groupes d'églises : le groupe d'Ihlara et celui de Belisirma. Le premier est plus impressionnant. La première église que vous rencontrez en partant d'Ihlara est la Kokar Kilise, l'église Odorante. Elle possède une nef unique en berceau, prolongée par deux chapelles funéraires. Le décor peint correspond à l'art populaire de la fin du IXe siècle. Les couleurs y sont vives. En règle générale, les fresques peintes par les premiers chrétiens traduisent leurs origines orientales. C'est ce qui fait la particularité de la région. Plus loin, l'église aux Serpents, creusée au Xe siècle, contient de jolies fresques dont le Jugement dernier. D'autres églises sont cachées dans les rochers. Au nord du canyon se trouve le charmant monastère de Selime qui date du VIe siècle. Il comprend de nombreuses pièces réparties autour de deux cours.

Cappadocia (/kæpəˈdoʊʃə/; also Capadocia; Greek: Καππαδοκία, Kappadokía, from Old Persian: Katpatuka, Armenian: Կապադովկիա, Kapadovkia, Turkish: Kapadokya) is a historical region in Central Anatolia, largely in the Nevşehir, Kayseri, Kırşehir, Aksaray, and Niğde Provinces in Turkey.
According to Herodotus,[1] in the time of the Ionian Revolt (499 BC), the Cappadocians were reported as occupying a region from Mount Taurus to the vicinity of the Euxine (Black Sea). Cappadocia, in this sense, was bounded in the south by the chain of the Taurus Mountains that separate it from Cilicia, to the east by the upper Euphrates, to the north by Pontus, and to the west by Lycaonia and eastern Galatia.[2]
The name, traditionally used in Christian sources throughout history, continues in use as an international tourism concept to define a region of exceptional natural wonders, in particular characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage. Cappadocia
