Istanbul is located in the northwest of Turkey and is the largest city in the country. It’s not the capital city of Turkey, but is known as the country’s economic, cultural and historic center. There are many historical places to visit as well as lots of interesting art, architecture, culinary heritage, and a vibrant local atmosphere. 7. Istiklal Street
The 7th best thing to do in Istanbul is to explore the vibrant Istiklal Street. Istiklal is the busiest street in the city, comparable to Oxford Street in London or Fifth Avenue in New York City. This long stretch has a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants, and much more.

6. “Relax” at a Hamam
The Turkish bath, or hamam, is an important part of Turkish culture. It’s a type of steam bath and also a place of public bathing that was used primarily within the Ottoman Empire starting in the 16th century. There are about 60 baths in Istanbul, offering just the traditional bath or including massages. The price can range from $15 to $50.
5. Galata Bridge & Bosphorus
The 5th best thing to do in Istanbul is to walk the Galata Bridge in the heart of Istanbul. This bridge spans the Golden Horn and stretches between modern Istanbul on the north and the Old Town of Istanbul on the south. The Golden Horn is actually an inlet of the Bosphorus river, which forms the border between the European and the Asian continent.
4. Topkapi Palace
Topkapi Palace is an architectural highlight in Istanbul and therefore ranks at number 4. Home to the Ottoman sultans for nearly 400 years, this palace was the heart of the vast Ottoman Empire. The palace has hundreds of rooms decorated with beautiful tiles, gold, and other decorations.

The runner-up activity is to shop at the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar. Both are located in the old town of Istanbul, near the Galata Bridge. The Spice Bazaar is a giant covered market with the majority of shops selling food. The market is also close to the Grand Bazaar, which is the true centre of hustle and bustle. With over 4,000 shops, the Grand Bazaar has a little bit of everything.

It is used to be a part of Istanbul province but now it has become a province itself. Yalova city is the biggest town of Yalova province. You can reach yalova by car or by ferry. The city has 600 years of history was ruled by the following empires and kingdoms in this long history; Bithynia, Ancient Rome, Byzantine, Seljuks and Ottoman Empire.
The location of Yalova City is really close to İstanbul. It is possible to reach from İstanbul to Yalova in 2 hours with a car. Therefore; if you have the plan to visit İstanbul, you can add Yalova to your travel route with inner peace!
Places to visit in Yalova City:
Open Air Museum
Open-air museum was opened for a visit in 2003 and it is displaying the arts, artefacts and items from Ottoman, Ancient Roma, Byzantine Empire and some other works and models of the pieces found in another region of the city.
Thermal Ataturk House
Thermal Ataturk House is a wooden house with 2 floors that was established in 1929. It is possible to see some of the items that were used after the republication in the museum. Moreover, it is a central place where the meeting and national decisions were made for the Turkish Historical Society, Turkish Language Association.
Walking Pavillion
Walking Pavilion which is named as Yuruyen Kosk in Turkish has a influential story. Firstly the building was planned to construct on a place of plane tree. However; later by the command of Ataturk as Do not cut the tree, the tree will be there, move the pavilion next to it instead. Because of the great impact of this story, this building has real value on the hearts of Turkish people.

Yalova is close to Istanbul which makes it very easy to reach by boat, bus or car. There is a bridge connecting Gebze with the province and driving over this bridge is just beautiful because you can see the Marmara sea.
Yalova is the smallest province in Turkey but just because it’s tiny - it doesnt mean that it won’t surprise you BIG time :) Actually it is one of the touristic cities with the longest coastline to the sea with 105 km.
Yalova is a natural paradise with lots of forests and as we all know - Turks love camping! Yalova has one of the best camping spots in Turkey. Especially during weekends it can get crowded, so make sure to get there early in the morning.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk occasionally lived in Yalova in his final years. In one of his speeches he famously said: Yalova is my city and today it is possible to visit his mansion in the Termak district or to find out more about his Moving Villa in Yalova City.
