In this UK Travel Vlog '1 day as a tourist in Witham' I explore the Town of Witham in Essex within the district of Braintree in Essex.
Starting from the church I make my way through the town, then through the stunning river walk where I managed to accost a few locals to have a chin wag with. After a laugh at the skate park with a couple of local lads I return to the town to uncover some history and a tragic event involving a grenade which took place at a house next to the war memorial in WW1.
My trip to Witham ends with an incredible meal at Spanish Restaurant, El Pulpo and a Gin & Tonic at the fabulously quirky, Charlies Cocktail Bar.

In this UK travel vlog I take you for an explore around Chelmsford City in the county of Essex. Starting at the historic market place I chat to local business owners within the Indoor market, soak up the vibe and sample some very tasty west county cheese. From there I mix it up with locals in and around central park and the city center, and trust me this place is full to the brim of quirky characters!
In the final part of my Chelmsford City travel vlog I take a cheeky gander around the Museum, then to Hyland House, the grade 2 neo-classical villa to tell you some fascinating stories about past residents within the estate. Join me!

1 Day as a Tourist in Braintree, Essex, England | UK Travel Vlog
Welcome to Braintree!
In this brand new UK Travel Vlog I explore the historic market town of Braintree in Essex which began its life 4000 years ago as a village!
My trip begins at the Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens with some history on an extremely influential Courtauld family. From there I jumped back into my car and headed for the town center. Luckily I was given permission to film at the stunning Town Hall, which opened May 22nd 1928! From there I unearth some interesting history at an old drunkard lock up, before taking a walk on the stunning old Flitch Way Railway Route.
My next destination is the hustle and bustle of market day in the town center, and a catch up with a variety of brilliant characters plying their wares, followed by a tour of Bocking Arts theatre by a local comedian.
Finally I take in Braintree Museum for a vital history lesson, ending my trip at a crackin local place called Toast, with a proper tasty meatball toasted sarnie!

Braintree is a town in Essex, England. The principal settlement of Braintree District, it is located 10 miles northeast of Chelmsford and 15 miles west of Colchester.
Braintree has grown contiguous with several surrounding settlements. Braintree proper lies on the River Brain and to the south of Stane Street, the Roman road from Braughing to Colchester, while Bocking lies on the River Blackwater and to the north of the road. The two are sometimes referred to together as Braintree and Bocking, and since 1934 they form the civil parish of that name.
Braintree is bypassed by the modern-day A120 and A131 roads, while trains serve two stations in the town, at the end of the Braintree Branch Line. Braintree is twinned with Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, France, and gives its name to the towns of Braintree, Massachusetts and Braintree, Vermont, in the United States.
Braintree lies in north Essex, about 46 miles (74 km) from London, with factories and housing to the south and rural areas to the north, where arable crops are grown. It lies about 150 feet (46 m) above sea level. Essex is rather flat on the whole, and the Braintree area is no exception; however, there is a general downward trend in the height of the ground from the northwest towards the coast to the southeast. Two rivers flow through Braintree in this direction. Pod's Brook approaches the western side of the town, forming a natural boundary between Braintree and the neighbouring village of Rayne about two miles (3 km) to the west.
Braintree's museum, containing displays relating to the history of the town. The Braintree Arts Theatre opened in 2009 on the Notley High School campus. The Braintree and Bocking Carnival takes place each June.
Braintree has two main market areas that link throughout the town, which are run twice weekly, on a Wednesday and a Saturday. They are based outside the Town Hall in Market Square, and also run along Bank Street and the High Street. The High street is mainly a pedestrianised area, which allows only buses to commute through the town.
Freeport is a shopping area on the outskirts of Braintree, described as a designer outlet village. It has approximately 90 departments where designer brands sell surplus stock for lower than the recommended retail price. Freeport also has its own railway station, namely Braintree Freeport railway station, which is the first stop on the journey from Braintree to London Liverpool Street via Witham.
Braintree has two railway stations, Braintree and Braintree Freeport next to the Freeport shopping area. Bocking Windmill, technically a part of Bocking, the windmill stands proud over the countryside at the North end of Braintree & Bocking. Maldon is a town on the Blackwater estuary in Essex, England. Maldon is the seat of the Maldon District and starting point of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. It is most renowned for Maldon Sea Salt which is produced in the area.
Maldon is a town of circa 15000 people on the tidal River Chelmer by the Blackwater Estuary in Essex. It is on the A414 10 miles (16 km) east of Chelmsford, and 49 miles (79 km) north east of Charing Cross, London, using the A13.
Essex is a county built on London clay, overlain with pockets of gravel deposited by riperian action, the lowest land is made up of river alluvium and salt marsh. At Maldon the railway cutting (now a road cutting) provided a reference section for geologists. There are three landslips on the north-facing river cliff of the Blackwater at Maldon. The middle slip is called the West Maldon Landslip, which was caused by repeated rotational slips of the bedrock London Clay, which is trying to reach a stable angle.
Hythe Quay at the confluence of the Chelmer and Blackwater, which flanks the northern edge of the town, was an important port, and Cooks Yard remains significant for Thames barges. The River Blackwater, that was diverted into the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation, re-emerges into the Blackwater Estuary, through locks at the Heybridge Basin, the stream bed passes down Heybridge Creek. and this delinearates the border between Maldon Town and Heybridge Parish Council.
Maldon's first railway link was a branch line to Witham opened in 1846. Later a second line linked Maldon with Woodham Ferrers on the Crouch Valley Line between Southminster and Wickford line. Whilst Wickford is itself on the line between Shenfield and Southend (thus providing Maldon with another route into London Liverpool Street), a short-lived spur line at Wickford also gave direct access towards Southend.
Maldon West railway station was opened in 1889 by the Great Eastern Railway. The line between Maldon and South Woodham Ferrers closed to passengers in 1939, the Maldon and Witham line closed in 1966. The nearest railway stations to Maldon are now Hatfield Peverel, Witham and North Fambridge. Hatfield Peverel is the closest railway station to the north of the town, whilst North Fambridge is closest to southern parts of the town.

Cheddar is a large village and civil parish in the Sedgemoor district of the English county of Somerset. Cheddar is situated on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills, 9 miles north-west of Wells. The civil parish includes the hamlets of Nyland and Bradley Cross.
Cheddar Gorge, on the northern edge of the village, is the largest gorge in the United Kingdom and includes several show caves, including Gough's Cave. The gorge has been a centre of human settlement since Neolithic times including a Saxon palace. It has a temperate climate and provides a unique geological and biological environment that has been recognised by the designation of several Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
It is also the site of several limestone quarries. The village gave its name to Cheddar cheese and has been a centre for strawberry growing. The crop was formerly transported on the Cheddar Valley rail line, which closed in the late 1960s but is now a cycle path. The village is now a major tourist destination with several cultural and community facilities, including the Cheddar Show Caves Museum.
The area is underlain by Black Rock slate, Burrington Oolite and Clifton Down Limestone of the Carboniferous Limestone Series, which contain ooliths and fossil debris on top of Old Red Sandstone, and by Dolomitic Conglomerate of the Keuper. Cheddar Gorge, which is located on the edge of the village, is the largest gorge in the United Kingdom. The gorge is the site of the Cheddar Caves, where Cheddar Man was found in 1903.
Cheddar Reservoir is a near-circular artificial reservoir operated by Bristol Water. Dating from the 1930s, it has a capacity of 135 million gallons. Close to the village and gorge are Batts Combe quarry and Callow Rock quarry, two of the active Quarries of the Mendip Hills where limestone is still extracted. Tattershall is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. Tattershall is situated on the A153 Horncastle to Sleaford road, 1 mile east from the point where that road crosses the River Witham.
At its eastern end, Tattershall adjoins the village of Coningsby, with the two being separated by the River Bain. In the same parish is the hamlet of Tattershall Thorpe. Local public houses are the Black Horse on the High Street and the Fortescue Arms in the Market Place. The Fortesque Arms dates from the 15th century and is a Grade II listed building. Barnes Wallis Academy (built 1954) is a secondary modern school on Butts Lane for pupils aged from 11 to 16. The school also serves Coningsby and Woodhall Spa.
The remaining wreckage of the Boeing jumbo jet that was blown-up on 21 December 1988 over Lockerbie in Scotland is stored at a scrapyard near Tattershall. The remains include the plane's nose and cockpit. Tattershall Carrs forms the last remaining remnants of ancient wet woodland, dominated by alder that once ringed the margins of the Fens.
Village historic sites include the church of the Holy Trinity, a buttercross, Tattershall Castle, Collegiate College, and Tom Thumb's house and grave. Tattershall Castle was built in 1434 by Ralph de Cromwell, 3rd Baron Cromwell - Henry VI's Lord High Treasurer - on the site of an earlier 13th-century stone castle, of which some remains are extant, particularly the Grand Tower and moat.
An octagonal 15th-century buttercross stands in the Market Place. It is both a Grade I listed structure and an ancient scheduled monument. A charter to hold a weekly market was granted by King John in 1201 in return for an annual fee of a trained goshawk.
Tattershall railway station was a station on the line between Boston and Lincoln until closure. The Old Station House, a stationmasters house and ticket office, is a Grade II listed building. Adjacent to the castle is the Grade I listed Perpendicular-style Holy Trinity Collegiate Church, endowed by Ralph de Cromwell, 3rd Baron Cromwell, but built after his death.
Adjacent to the Market Place are the remains of Tattershall College which was built by Lord Cromwell for the education of the choristers of Holy Trinity Church. The College was an example of perpendicular style of Gothic architecture. In the late 18th century it was converted to a brewery, and later left empty – today it is a ruin. The walls that remain are supported by modern brick. Heritage Lincolnshire currently manages the site, which is Grade II* listed, and an ancient scheduled monument.

1 Day as a Tourist in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire | UK Travel Vlog
Welcome to 1 Day as a Tourist in Bishops Stortford!
In my latest UK Travel Vlog I visit this historic market town, beginning at Waytemore Castle with a chat about its medieval history. My next step is a walk along the ancient River Stort, the key to the town's thriving past success as a Navigated River, especially for the Malting Industry.
A short walk later I arrive at South Mills Arts for a fascinating insight into the town's past and incredible music heritage stemming from the famous Rhodes Centre! Having departed South Mills It was only fair that I dropped into the little arts workshop for a lesson in throwing pottery from Jessica before discovering remnants of the Town's Maltings within 'Millars three'
Finally I explore the town center and some great local characters before ending my trip at South Street Pantry for a superb bit of cake and tea!

Ely, England - the famous waterfront of Ely, the Ely Waterfront. Let's visit the Ely Waterfront, a view of Ely's waterfront on the River Great Ouse, Ely, Cambridgeshire, taken from the Lincoln Bridge. Let's walk along the beautiful Ely Waterfront which is the city of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England.
Ely is famous for its Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, which is an Anglican cathedral in the city of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England.
The Ely cathedral has its origins in AD 672 when St Etheldreda built an abbey church. The present Ely cathedra dates back to 1083, and it was granted cathedral status in 1109.
Ely is built on a 23-square-mile (60 km2) Kimmeridge Clay island which, at 85 feet (26 m), is the highest land in the Fens. Major rivers including the Witham, Welland, Nene and Great Ouse feed into the Fens and, until draining commenced in the 17th century, formed freshwater marshes and meres within which peat was laid down. There are two Sites of Special Scientific Interest in the city: a former Kimmeridge Clay quarry, and one of the United Kingdom's best remaining examples of medieval ridge and furrow agriculture.
Ely has a long river frontage from which you can soak up the beauty and tranquillity of the local countryside. Ely has a beautiful waterside where you can enjoy a boat trip, a riverside walk or listen to music in the neighbouring Jubilee Gardens. As well as an art gallery and the region's largest antique centre, the riverside is home to a variety of eateries. Whether it is a glass of wine, a light lunch, a gourmet meal or a cream tea, Ely's waterfront has it all.

Ely is a cathedral city in Cambridgeshire, England, about 14 miles north-northeast of Cambridge and about 80 miles by road from London. Construction of the cathedral was started in 1083 by a Norman abbot, Simeon. Alan of Walsingham's octagon, built over Ely's nave crossing between 1322 and 1328, is the greatest individual achievement of architectural genius at Ely Cathedral, according to architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner. Building continued until the dissolution of the abbey in 1539 during the Reformation. The cathedral was sympathetically restored between 1845 and 1870 by the architect George Gilbert Scott. As the seat of a diocese, Ely has long been considered a city; in 1974, city status was granted by royal charter.

Little direct evidence of Roman occupation in Ely exists, although there are nearby Roman settlements such as those at Little Thetford and Stretham. A coach route, known to have existed in 1753 between Ely and Cambridge, was improved in 1769 as a turnpike (toll road). The present day A10 closely follows this route; a southwestern bypass of the city was built in 1986. Ely railway station built in 1845 is on the Fen Line and is now a railway hub, with lines north to King's Lynn, northwest to Peterborough, east to Norwich, southeast to Ipswich and south to Cambridge and London.
The King's School is a coeducational boarding school which was granted a royal charter in 1541 by Henry VIII; the school claims to have existed since 970. Henry I granted the first annual Fair, Saint Audrey's (or Etheldreda's) seven-day event, to the abbot and convent on 10 October 1189; the word tawdry originates from cheap lace sold at this fair. Present day annual events include the Eel Festival in May, established in 2004, and a fireworks display in Ely Park, first staged in 1974. The city of Ely has been twinned with Denmark's oldest town, Ribe, since 1956. Ely City Football Club was formed in 1885.
Ely railway station, on the Fen Line, is a major railway hub with the Cambridge to Ely section opening in 1845. Five major railway lines—excluding the former Ely and St Ives Railway—emanate from this hub: north to King's Lynn, northwest to Peterborough, east to Norwich, southeast to Ipswich and south to Cambridge and London.
