Soest is located along the Hellweg road, approximately 23 kilometres (14 miles) south-west of Lippstadt, roughly 50 km (31 mi) east of Dortmund and roughly 50 km (31 mi) west of Paderborn.
Specialties of Soest
Among the old specialties of Soest are the Möppken bread and pumpernickel. The Haverland bakery in the city centre, which formerly supplied the dark bread to the royal court of Bavaria, has existed since 1570. A newer specialty is Bullenauge (bull's eye), a mocha liqueur, sold mostly at the Allerheiligenkirmes. Another specialty is the Soester beer, also called Zwiebel-Bier, which literally translates as 'onion beer' as since 1993 it has been brewed in the Zwiebel (Onion) inn.

[4K] Ruhr River Cycle Tour - Essen Kettwig to Essen Werden
In this cycle tour along the Ruhr river in Western Germany, I am filming a panorama ride in June 2020 which covers some amazing sights of the Ruhr river from Essen Kettwig to its neighbouring district Werden. Come and enjoy this virtual cycling tour in 4K and view of the Ruhr river on a sunny spring day during the pandemic. I am starting this cycling tour close to the Ringbrücke bridge in Kettwig then taking a not very complex route along the Ruhr river until I reach Essen Werden. I hope you can relax and enjoy this beautiful view in June 2020 on a early evening.

The Ruhr area was Germany's primary industrial area during the early- to mid-20th century. Most factories were located there. The occupation of the Ruhr from 1923-24 by French forces, due to the Weimar Republic's failure to continue paying reparations from World War I, provoked passive resistance, which saw production in the factories grind to a halt. As a result, the German hyperinflation crisis grew even worse. The Ruhr first passes the towns of Meschede, Arnsberg, Wickede, Fröndenberg, Holzwickede, Iserlohn, and Schwerte. Then the river marks the southern limit of the Ruhr area, passing Hagen, Dortmund, Herdecke, Wetter, Witten, Bochum, Hattingen, Essen, Mülheim, and Duisburg.

Walking on downtown of the city of Soest, state of North Rhine-Westphalia(NRW), Germany
Soest is a city with around 50,000 inhabitants and a well-preserved old town in the region North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, 50 km east of Dortmund.
Soest was first mentioned in a document dating from 836, making it one of the oldest towns in the region. It was located on the Hellweg, an important medieval trade route, crossing Westphalia in a west-east direction. Soest's town charter, noted on cowhides, was a model for the municipal laws of about 70 other towns in Germany.
During the Middle Ages, Soest became one of the most important and prosperous trade places in Central Europe and a principal member of the Hanseatic League. The town's confident citizenry even tried to win their independence from the Archbishops of Cologne. This led to a five-year feud (Soester Fehde), during which an imperial ban was put on the town. The conflict ended with Soest becoming part of the Duchy of Kleve-Mark and receiving far-reaching privileges. This was however a pyrrhic victory: cut off from its hinterland that still belonged to the Archbishops' territory, the city lost most of its economic affluence during the following decades and centuries.

The merchants' residences decayed and most citizens had to subsist on agriculture. Therefore, the town maintained its medieval-to-Renaissance outline rather than expanding and modernising. Even today, two thirds of the city's Medieval wall still exist, enough for you to circle the city. Both the walls and churches are made from green sandstone that was quarried in the region. This special material contributes to the old town's unique appearance. In addition, there are several hundred half-timbered houses from the 15th to 19th century—once a sign of poverty, as the owners could not afford a stone building—now providing a picturesque, old German townscape.
Under Prussian rule, Soest was made a county seat and major railway station, but unlike most cities in the nearby Ruhr region, never developed major industries or population growth. The upside of this development (or rather lack thereof) is that the medieval townscape is mostly preserved and was not replaced by modern buildings.
Soest was an important motif of German Impressionism and Expressionism, being still quite a medieval city, a splendid nest, as Christian Rohlfs enthusiastically wrote in 1904. In the 1910s and 1920s, the city was home to an artists' colony. Its most important members were Wilhelm Morgner, Eberhard Viegener and Arnold Topp. Famous artists such as Otto Modersohn, Karl Schmidt-Rotluff and Christian Rohlfs often joined the local artist group.
In addition to the painters, also Bruno Paul—a pioneer of modern architecture and teacher of, inter alia, Mies van der Rohe—had worked in Soest several times by creating three city villas there between 1928 and 1931. He was also a prominent cartoonist of the satirical magazine Simplicissimus.

Die Externsteine im südlichen Teutoburger Wald bei HornBadMeinberg haben die Menschen schon immer fasziniert. Auch wir wollen die bizarren Felsen besuchen und fahren mit dem EBike auf dem Senne-Radweg zu diesem besonderen Ort. Der Radweg führt als Rundtour direkt an den Externsteinen vorbei. Eine wunderschöne Fahrradtour durch eine geschichtsträchtige Gegend.
Vor rund 130 Millionen Jahren grenzte das Meer des Niedersächsischen Beckens an das Münsterländer Festland. Am Meeresgrund bildeten sich stetig Ablagerungen, die zu Sandstein verhärteten. Durch geologische Verschiebungen der Erdkruste vor rund 70 Millionen Jahren stellten gewaltige Druckkräfte die Sandsteinschichten allmählich senkrecht auf.
So entstand der Gebirgszug des Teutoburger Waldes. Quellbäche spülten den Gebirgszug aus und ließen die Externsteine als eine einzigartige Felsengruppe zurück.
Jahr für Jahr besuchen noch heute mehr als 500.000 Menschen diesen magischen Ort, besonders zur Sonnenwende und in der Walpurgisnacht.
Der SenneRadweg ist ein gut ausgeschilderter Rundweg von ca. 82 Kilometer.

Der Einstieg und das Ende sind an jedem Punkt der Strecke möglich. Bahnreisende können von den Stationen der Senne-Bahn in Hövelhof und Paderborn-Schloss Neuhaus starten.
Auch von den Bahnhöfen Detmold, Horn-Bad Meinberg und Paderborn ist der Senne-Radweg nur wenige Kilometer entfernt.
Wir haben den Einstieg in Schloss Neuhaus gewählt und fahren entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn.
Im nördlichen Bereich sind fast durchweg leichte bis mäßige, manchmal aber auch heftige Steigungs- und Gefällestrecken z. B. im Bereich Hiddesen und HolzhausenExternsteine zu überwinden.
Im südlichen Teil des SenneRadweges, besonders im Streckenbereich zwischen Augustdorf und Hövelhof sind nur geringe Höhenunterschiede.
Der SenneRadweg führt zum größten Teil über asphaltierte, ruhige Wege. Ein paar Abschnitte beispielsweise in den Naturschutzgebieten zwischen Hiddesen und Augustdorf sind unbefestigt und teilweise grob geschottert.
Wer den Rundkurs verkürzen möchte, kann folgende Verbindungen wählen:
nördliche Querverbindung: Oesterholz - Augustdorf (14 km)
und die südliche Querverbindung: Hövelhof - Bad Lippspringe (10 km).

Dortmund Airport, Germany
Dortmund Airport (IATA: DTM, ICAO: EDLW) is a minor international airport located 10 km east of Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. It serves the eastern Rhine-Ruhr area, the largest urban agglomeration in Germany, and is mainly used for low-cost and leisure charter flights. In 2020 the airport served 1,220,624 passengers. The nearest major international airport is Düsseldorf Airport approx. 70 km to the southwest.
The airport, originally located in the suburb of Brackel, was first served by commercial flights in 1925 by Aero Lloyd, which operated flights to Paris. During World War II the airport was used as a German air base, and was subsequently used by the British Royal Air Force. German commercial air service was restarted in 1955. In 1960, the civil airfield was relocated to Dortmund-Wickede. The old airport was abandoned and occupied by British forces until the 1990s.
Over the next decades Düsseldorf Airport and Cologne Bonn Airport were the dominant commercial airports in the Rhine-Ruhr Area. Additionally Hannover Airport also covered some of the air travel needs of this region.
Commercial service was restored in 1979 with daily flights to Munich by Reise- und Industrieflug. Nuremberg and Stuttgart followed shortly afterwards. Following German Reunification in 1990, Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin, and London were added to the flight schedule. Reise- und Industrieflug and Nürnberger Flugdienst merged in 1990 and Eurowings was formed, which is still based in Dortmund.
Construction was started in 1998, and completed in 2000 on a new replacement terminal. This multi-level terminal prepared the airport for its resurgence. From late 2000 onwards, Dortmund Airport has experienced a drastic increase in air traffic. Since 2000, several new airlines have commenced service to Dortmund, many with mainline jets. Most of the air traffic today is by low cost airlines operating Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 family series aircraft to warm-weather destinations and business centres.
The first mass carrier at Dortmund Airport was Air Berlin, easyJet made Dortmund a hub in 2004, and Germanwings followed in 2007.
In October 2014, Air Berlin announced it was leaving Dortmund Airport entirely, cancelling their last remaining summer seasonal route to Palma de Mallorca.
As with easyJet in the 2000s, other low-cost carriers started opening routes from Dortmund Airport. Ryanair has progressively added new routes from Dortmund, mostly to destinations around the Mediterranean and the UK. However, Wizz Air has been the most significant contributor to the airport's resurgence. The Hungarian low-cost airline began servicing the airport in the mid 2000s by operating several routes to Eastern Europe, in large parts due to the Ruhr's significant Slavic community.

10/20 Kajaktour Bodensee Lindau - Mainz am Rhein. Von Waldshut nach Schwörstadt. Seawave Twist
10, Tag der Kajak tour vom Bodensee Lindau bis Mainz am Rhein . Diesmal begann die Fahrt vom Campingplatz Waldshut in Deutschand aus und ging bis zu einen kleinen Campingplatz in der nähe von Schwörstadt.
In den folgenden 2 Tagen war ich nicht alleine unterwegs mit meiner Seawave sondern in netter Begleitung von der Johanna mit ihrer Twist 2 von Gumotex . In diesen Fluss abschnitt vom Oberrhein gab es viele Wehre die mit einen Bootswagen überwunden werden mustern . Da traf es sich ganz gut zu Zweit unterwegs zu sein . Dadurch ging das Umsetzten der Schlauchbote leichter von statten .
Gleich nach dem Start kam die Staustufe Dogern in Sicht nit den Dazugehörigen Schweizer AKW Liebstadt . Der nächste interessante stelle ist die Brücke bei Laufenburg die man am besten Möglichst weit rechts passiert weil es links ein heftiges Kehrwasser hat . Gleich nach der Brücke kommt das Wehr Laufenburg wo es für die Umsetzung der Boote ins Unterwasser einen Schrägseil Aufzug hat. Beim nächsten Wehr Säckingen gibt es wieder einen Elektrischen Wagen der einen über das Wehr zieht . Allerdings muss der Wagen von Land aus bedient werden . Nach dem Wehr gab es einen kurzen Stadtbesuch in Bad Säckingen das sich mit Europas längsten überdachten Holzbrücke ziert . Kurz da rauf haben wir beim Campingplatz Schwörstadt wo wir die einzigen Gäste waren unser Nachtlager aufgeschlagen .
