South Africa Safari Tour - Eastern Cape

In this video we went on a Safari in South Africa in the Eastern Cape region north east of Port Elizabeth. Join us on many game drives through the Addo National Park, the Pumba Private Game Reserve and the Amakhala Game Reserve to look out for the Big 5.

You can expect so see the famous white lions from Pumba as well as many elephants which we saw in all three reserves mainly at the Addo National Park and many more from rhinos to various antelopes, zebras and even an buffalo. The only missing one was the leopard.

At the Addo National Park we stayed at the Spekboom Tented Camp which is in the middle of the park but fenced and only consists of 5 tents and a communal kitchen and bathroom. There is a waterhole directly at the camp and we were lucky enough to be the only guests in the camp.

Pumba Private Game Reserve is a small but very great reserve which two lodges - the Water Lodge which overlooks a dam and the Msenge Bush Chalets where we stayed. We had a great time there and totally recommend it. All the chalets are spacious and have a deck with a private plunge pool over viewing the bush.

The Amakhala Game Reserve is a Big Five reserve as well and offers 10 different Lodges or Camps to choose from. We stayed at the Bukela Game Lodge which was good but not that great as our stay at Pumba.

This video is the start of our first South Africa series which will bring you along the Garden Route, the Cape, the Cape Winelands and the Cedarberg.

The Wild Coast Eastern Cape South Africa

A Wild Coast Road Trip in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. A 2000 km round trip over 7 nights, staying at the Storm's River Mouth Rest Camp in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park for our first night. What an awesome place, with log cabins and camp sites right on the ocean, and a must do is a hike to the pedestrian suspension bridge over the mouth of the Storm's River itself.

Then it was onto the Wild Coast, although we spent one night along the way at Port Alfred. Morgan Bay is about 100km past East London and is very close to the mouth of the Kei River, the start of the Wild Cost proper. A really pleasant town with friendly people, awesome views and a spectacular hike along the cliffs on the edge of the village.

A short ferry ride across the Kei River and we were in the are previously known as the Transkei, rural South Africa where cows have right of way and life is synched to a much slower pace. The road the Coffee Bay ranges from excellent on the N2 national route, to pretty awful once you get off the main roads. Loads of potholes, unmarked speed humps and an assortment of domestic animals wandering around.

Coffee Bay itself is a strange place, there are no facilities as such, no shops other than spaza shops, some basic back packers and pizza joints, but we managed to find a decent guesthouse which was awesome. The village is spoilt by the abundance of rubbish lining the streets, and even beaches, locals told us that the local municipality has long since ceased to function. Which is a pity, because it has so much potential.

The Hole in The Wall is a must visit, we were told that the road was terrible and only passable in a 4x4. Which is incorrect, there is maintenance on the go and it can be done in a normal car. The informal guides can be a problem, I found that a firm but friendly approach was the way to go. It's a spectacular natural wonder, I highly recommend it.

NB! I've Re-published this video, the soundtrack wasn't right for the content on the earlier version; same video here, different soundtrack, I do hope you enjoy it.

S1 – Ep 339 – Komani / Queenstown – The Sight of the Beautiful Town Hall!

During our trip to Komani / Queenstown, we were captivated by the town's grandeur, surpassing our expectations of a typical destination. Upon arrival, our hearts sank at the sight of the beautiful town hall, once an emblem of history and pride, now a charred ruin due to unfortunate protests. It was a painful reminder of the fragility of cherished landmarks. However, our spirits were uplifted as we discovered numerous well-preserved historic buildings, particularly the awe-inspiring churches. Fortunate enough to set foot inside one, we were greeted by an architectural marvel. Driving through the town, we encountered old war memorials in the park, where people were joyously immersed in their activities. Our accommodation proved to be a delightful haven, meticulously maintained and inviting. The following morning, after a hearty breakfast, we delved deeper into the town, uncovering more of its hidden treasures, amongst which quite a few educational ones, before bidding farewell and embarking on our long journey back home. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #easterncape #komani #queenstown

Places to see in ( Whittlesey - UK )

Places to see in ( Whittlesey - UK )

Whittlesey, historically known as Whittlesea or Witesie, is an ancient Fenland market town about 6 miles east of Peterborough, in the Fenland district of Cambridgeshire in England. With the neighbouring villages of Coates, Eastrea, Pondersbridge and Turves, it had a population of 16,058 at the 2011 Census.

Whittlesey is located between the city of Peterborough, 6 miles (10 km) to the west and the town of March, 11 miles (18 km) to the east, and is bordered to the north by the River Nene and to the south by Whittlesey Dyke. Historically it was connected to Peterborough and March by the Roman road Fen Causeway constructed in the first century AD, a route approximately followed by the modern A605.

The rail station is on the Ely to Peterborough Line (historically the Great Eastern Line), with direct trains to Cambridge, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leicester, Stansted Airport, Ely, Ipswich and Peterborough. Whittlesey appears in the Cartularium Saxonicum (973 A.D.) as Witlesig, in the Domesday Book as Witesie.

Whittlesey was also infamous for its number of public houses; folk lore dictates that, at one time, there were 52 - one for each week of the year. In 1797, a local farmer, when writing his diary, noted that 'they like drinking better than fighting in Whittlesea'. In other history, Whittlesey was an important trade route in the late Bronze Age (about 1100-800 BC), where civilisations traded with many places, including the Balkans. Such evidence is clear at the important archeological site of Must Farm, where log boats, roundhouses, bowls with food in them, and the most complete wooden wheel were housed.

The Market Place, located in the centre of Whittlesey, is still the site of the town's market, held every Friday. A right to hold a weekly market was first granted in 1715, although there have been several periods since then during which the market did not function, for example from the late 1700s until c. 1850. Because of the nearby city of Peterborough, the market is no longer of great importance to the town.

The 'Whittlesey Summer Festival', held annually in September, takes over much of the town centre. Attractions in recent years included a large classic car display, a large Italian Food stall, fairground rides, a steam engine, and in 2009, a flying display by a Hawker Hurricane of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. An art competition, for students of Sir Harry Smith Community College also runs with the festival, with entries displayed throughout the day in the Whittlesey Christian Church. 2009 also saw the people of Whittlesey raise £10,000 for bushfire victims in Whittlesea, Melbourne.

The town has one secondary school, Sir Harry Smith Community College (opened in 1953 on the site of Whittlesey Workhouse), and three primary schools. There is also another primary school in the neighbouring village of Coates. Whittlesey Museum is located in the Old Town Hall and contains collections relating to the natural and cultural heritage of Whittlesey and the surrounding area.

( Whittlesey - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Whittlesey . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Whittlesey - UK

S1 – Ep 414 – Stutterheim!

Our journey through Stutterheim was a pleasant surprise. As we drove along the main road, we unexpectedly came across the Engine Museum, which, despite being closed, generously opened its doors for us, providing a fascinating experience. Our next stop was the old Bethel Mission Church, where we were disheartened to witness the near-total destruction of this nearly two-century-old structure. However, our spirits were lifted when we discovered the train station and learned that the trains were once again running from Johannesburg to East London. Adding to the delight, we explored the nearby forest, just on the outskirts of town. Stutterheim proved to be a memorable and enjoyable visit. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #easterncape #stutterheim

S1 – Ep 405 – Herbertsdale – A Remnant From the Anglo-Boer War!

Our visit to Herbertsdale marked the start of our 22nd trip and this filled us with anticipation for new discoveries. It was our first time exploring this quaint town, and as we took a slow drive down its main road, we quickly realised its small size. However, our spirits were lifted when we stumbled upon the bustling church community fervently preparing for their annual October festival – the ladies hard at work inside, tending to the meat and other food items, while the men skilfully tended to the braai outside. Further along our journey, we encountered an aged church building, a relic dating back to 1872. As we continued, locals informed us about a historic fort hidden along a gravel road, a remnant from the Anglo-Boer War, which became the next intriguing destination on our adventure. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #westerncape #herbertsdale
