Wild Willy's Hot Spring - BEST Hot Spring in Mammoth Lakes, California
Wild Willy's Hot Spring is one of many natural hot springs in and around Mammoth Lakes in California. It’s also one of the largest, the hottest, and quite possibly the most popular. Fortunately for us, there was hardly anyone there during our visit on a chilly April morning. The views of the surrounding area are breathtaking! It was the perfect start to another wonderful day in Mammoth Lakes!
NOTE: The drive to Wild Willys Hot Spring requires a drive on an unpaved road that 1) may be closed during the winter months 2) should not be driven in a low-clearance vehicle. (We got there in our sedan going very slowly and cautiously.)

Nephi is a city in Juab County in Utah and part of the Provo–Orem, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area. Eighty-four miles south of Salt Lake City, 40 miles south of Provo, 60 miles north of Fillmore, and 42 miles northwest of Manti, Nephi is located. Nephi is in central Utah, between I-15 and S.R. 132.
The town of Nephi is centered in a spectacular high desert valley at the base of Mount Nebo, Utah's highest point in the Wasatch Range. When you leave the Wasatch Front’s suburban settlements and enter vast stretches of Utah desert and mountain foothills on I-15 south from Salt Lake City, Nephi represents one of the last glimpses of civilization.
This sets Nephi in an excellent location: on the outskirts of the frontier, with easy access to some of Utah's most beautiful wilderness and just a short drive from the state's largest cities.

11-18-2022 - Mesquite, NV to Whitmore Canyon Overlook
Day 1 of a 3-day trip from Mesquite, NV back to Glenwood Springs, CO. Today's trip begins by heading to Whitmore Canyon Overlook in Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. This was another new overlook of the Grand Canyon for me to visit. I made it an early morning so that I would be able to arrive, setup camp, and then hike down to the Colorado River and back with plenty of daylight left. I spent one night here and left early the next morning to continue my journey home. Here is the Google Map of the route that I took for this day trip -

Intense COLORADO Journey Looking for Whitmore Falls
We had quite an adventure trying to get to Whitmore Falls near Lake City, Colorado. While dodging some raging wildfires in San Juan National Forest, we drove over some beautiful mountains, mesas and plateaus. We even passed through an ominous ghost town called Capital City!

In this episode we take you just outside Mammoth Lakes, California to an area called Hot Creek Geological Site. Here geysers and hot water from the Long Valley Caldera spew out of the creek in this scenic canyon. The site holds blue geothermal pools that sit about a running creek. Though it is dangerous and prohibited from entering this site is a great place to see for yourself.

Unique camping experiences at LAKE POWELL & GRAND CANYON
The highlights of these two locations were really with campgrounds. Dry camping is totally worth it when you're staying right on the beach of Lake Powell at Lone Rock Campground. And if you manage to camp at the Grand Canyon during the elk mating season, you'll be treated to an up close and personal show of elks bugling and fighting to dominance.
