#weeze is a municipality in the Lower Rhine (Niederrhein) region, in the northwestern part of North Rhine-Westphalia in the district of #kleve in the region of Düsseldorf.
The municipality consists of the town of Weeze and the village of Wemb and has approximately 10,500 inhabitants. Not to be confused with Weeze (the person) from Forest Glade, Windsor. It is situated in the district of Kleve, embedded in the northwestern part of the Lower Rhine Region, and lies between Goch to the north and Kevelaer to the south. The Netherlands lie directly to the west.
The Municipality offers a wide range of outdoor activities. An almost 210 km (130 mi) network of bridle, cycling and rambling paths, partially along the Niers River, as well as recreational activities such as angling, canoeing and kart racing round off an abundance of leisure activities in and around the Municipality.
The Herrensitz-Route, a border-crossing cycling route, guides cyclists to these and many other highlights and attractions of the region, such as Kleve, home of Anne of Cleves; Kevelaer, famous for its pilgrimages, Moyland Castle between Kalkar and Bedburg-Hau, or Gennep in the Netherlands where the Meuse and Niers rivers converge. The Weeze animal park with its educational trail and children's zoo is a special attraction for families. The park is located on the edge of the town next to the ruins of Hertefeld Castle.

TRIP REPORT - Ryanair 737-800 - Düsseldorf Weeze to Corfu - Economy class (4K)
A new trip report, of a flight I took to Corfu in august 2018. Yep, a very old tripreport haha, but better late than never, right? :) The flight was smooth and uneventful. It was my first time flying Ryanair, and I have to say it was exactly what I expected. Seatpitch was really good, cabin crew was friendly and we arrived on time. Of course, there are no free services on board, but that's what you can expect when flying this airline. Hope you enjoy coming along :) More infos below:

4 hours on a low cost carrier can be a long time - here’s our Ryanair experience from Tenerife back to Weeze, Germany.
On our way to Tenerife (tripreport already published) Ryanair did a very good job, but unfortunately the flight back was not as good. Don’t get me wrong, it was okay, but a delay and the chaotic board service made it not the most enjoyable. The price for the flight was good and of course we did not expect any free service, but after our previous Ryanair flight this one was slightly disappointing. Anyway, the views on this flight were absolutely amazing, better than any entertainment! Check out the whole video for more details!

Der Flughafen Weeze (Eigenbezeichnung: Airport Weeze) liegt am Niederrhein in der Nähe der niederländischen Grenze. Zwischen 6 und 23 Uhr starten je nach Wochentag sechs bis 15 Flugzeuge pro Tag, eine ähnliche Zahl von Maschinen landet täglich.
Der heutige zivile Flughafen ist aus dem 1999 geschlossenen britischen Militärflughafen RAF Laarbruch hervorgegangen. Seit dem Start 2003 hat er mehrfach den Namen gewechselt und hieß zunächst Flughafen Niederrhein, wurde aber schon seit 2003 von Ryanair unter der Bezeichnung Flughafen Düsseldorf (Weeze) vermarktet. Nachdem andere Namensvarianten, die eine Nähe zu Düsseldorf suggerieren sollten, gerichtlich verboten wurden, nennt die Flughafen Niederrhein GmbH den Flughafen seit 2005 nur noch Airport Weeze.

Düsseldorf is the capital city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the seventh most populous city in Germany. Streets such as Königsallee and Schadowstrasse are lined with boutique shops.
Düsseldorf is known for its academy of fine arts, its pioneering influence on electronic/experimental music and its Japanese community. On the river Rhine, Düsseldorf holds Rhenish Carnival celebrations every year in February / March. Mercer's 2012 Quality of Living survey ranked Düsseldorf sixth city in the world.
The lost places of airport Weeze (Weeze / DE / 2022-04)
Airport Weeze is an abandoned military site of the Royal Air Force. It's situated close to the border with The Netherlands and during the Second World War the British Army built a landing strip here in preparation for the final push across the River Rhine.
The runways have been in use for the RAF until the squadron's were relocated after the first Gulf War. The airfield found a new use as a civil airport for low cost carriers and is still in use. Many of the old buildings are lost places now and some of them are used as a training center for the police and fire brigade.
We cycled around and had a perfect day with filming, photography and searching for geocaches.
In Weeze there are two more locations that deserve a visit. The nature adventure trail and the petting zoo at the other side of the road.

We are DNF, geocachers and vanlifers!
We - GeoKars and GEOrgCACHING - were both geocachers travelling a lot with out motorhomes to (mega) geocaching events in Europe. That's how we met and became friends. It took us about half a year to become lovers and another half year to sell one of our RV's. Good example of your best friends are other geocachers, don't you think?
And of course we also needed a geocaching nickname together. So our mutual avatar was born: DNF. Why DNF? GEOrgCACHING is from Germany and GeoKars is from The Netherlands. For us DNF does not mean Did Not Find (the geocache), but Deutsch Niederländische Freundschaft which means German Dutch Friendship.
