After setting a goal to camp at all of the SC state parks, we thought we'd start back close to home. Here's a look at our weekend! Sorry the time lapse is a little grainy. I'm still learning. Poinsett State Park - SC State Parks Ultimate Outsider - Trailblaze Challenge Training Hike

I am raising money again for Make-a-Wish and any amount will make a difference! Check out my fundraising link and please let me know if you have any questions!

This was a training hike for the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge. We hiked a 7.5 mile loop at Poinsett State Park. Before the hike started I wandered over to the Poinsett State Park office and to Levi Mill Lake. The lake offers fishing, swimming and boating. Poinsett State Park has over 25 miles of trails for mountain biking and hiking.

The most important part of the hike was before we even set foot on the trail - we got together to talk about why we are hiking for wishes and learned about some of the wishes currently being granted to South Carolina Wish Kids.

Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year but that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Each hour of each day, on average, three children are diagnosed with a critical illness. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the true happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.

It was a fun day at Poinsett State Park. If you go to Poinsett State Park be sure to check out the Singleton Grist Mill ruins and see the Coquina stone that dates back to when the ocean reached inland to the park.

John Bryan State Park: A Must Visit In Ohio

There are so many great Ohio State Parks, but what is your favorite? Mine is John Bryan State Park in Yellow Springs, Ohio. It is certainly the most beautiful in Southwestern Ohio. John Bryan State Park offers camping, 10 hiking trails, rock climbing and a rappelling area. It is also located next to Clifton Gorge Nature Preserve which is also a beautiful area. The park is very popular and the best time to go is early in the morning. While visiting John Bryan State Park, make sure you visit Yellow Springs. The eclectic town offers a variety of shopping, great food (Sunrise Cafe, HaHa Pizza, Ye Olde Trail Tavern) and one of the best breweries around (Yellow Springs Brewery). Make sure you also visit Young's Dairy for some amazing ice cream.

Mims Florida: Worst Cities In Florida To Live Part 5

Welcome to this video where we'll be exploring the worst cities in Florida to live, and in particular, the small town of Mims. Nestled in the northern part of the state, Mims may not be a place that you've heard of before, but it's a town with a reputation for being one of the most boring places in Florida.

Mims is a small community that lacks any significant attractions or things to do, making it a challenging place to live for many residents. If you're looking for exciting nightlife, cultural events, or tourist hotspots, you won't find them here. The town has a limited number of shops, restaurants, and recreational activities, leaving locals with little to do in their free time.

Mims is also a relatively poor area, with a low median income and high levels of poverty. Crime rates in the town are higher than average, making it a potentially unsafe place to live or visit. The lack of economic opportunities and limited resources make it difficult for Mims to attract new businesses or residents, leading to a decline in population over the years.

If you're considering a visit or relocation to Florida, Mims is a town you might want to steer clear of. With nothing much to offer, it's a place that's likely to leave you feeling bored and unfulfilled. Join us in this video as we take a closer look at Mims and other worst cities in Florida.

Titusville's new multi-use Rail Trail is a cyclist's paradise

Titusville is the new home to the Florida East Central Regional Rail Trail, a 15-mile paved multi-use trail that is part of the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail which stretches from St. Petersburg, FL to Titusville. This extensive trail system has a variety of views and sights to take in. You can ride along the water, over bridges, through nature, and there are plenty of beautiful observation points along the way. Make sure to stop by the Titusville Welcome Center where you can rent bicycles, get maps and info about the trail, and it is conveniently located at the entrance of the trail. Explore it for yourself the next time you're on Florida's Space Coast!

The Ghost of the British Soldier! (and a $12 meal!) Wedgefield Golf Plantation, Georgetown, SC

Today we headed down to the Wedgefield Plantation Golf Club in Georgetown, SC to check out the ghost of the headless British Soldier! Its located just 30 min south of Myrtle Beach. While we were there, we tried their $12 lunch at the Manor House! It was good, not great, but worth the trip!

The Manor House at the Wedgefield Golf Plantation:

Poinsett State Park, Wedgefield South Carolina

Located in Wedgefield, SC, Poinsett State Park is home to lakeside swimming, paddle-boating, canoeing and fishing. A scenic overlook, hiking trails with access to The Palmetto Trail and a man-made waterfall make this state park feel like you are in the mountains, while still being in the midlands of SC.

Georgetown South Carolina | POV Driving

Let's take a POV Driving trip to Georgetown, South Carolina! We'll start south of the city, down near the Santee River on US Route 17 North. We'll continue driving into the twon, passing it's historic downtown and some residentail neighborhoods. We'll end the road trip by re-joining US 17 and crossing over the Waccamaw River.

There are a few specific goals of Travel Towner:
1. To take fun POV (“Point-of-View”) videos of scenic drives, highways, and roadways so you can virtually travel anywhere you like; or look back at a time when you were younger.

2. Document a fun walking tour of a specific park, attraction, or point of interest so you can see what's it's like to really be there.

3. Showcase vintage footage from yesteryear to show today's viewers what is may have been like back in 19- something something! If you have any vintage footage of past attractions, parks, road trips or anything interesting from the USA? Contact me and let’s feature it here!

4. Just for Fun. These are videos that are funny or interesting in some way that I think everyone will enjoy!

Please give a thumbs up if you like taking a POV Road Trip or love POV driving.

Another big part of the channel is to document a piece of Americana… at a certain point in time. Wouldn’t it be cool to go back to where you lived, 20 or 30 years ago, and take a ride through your hometown? As more roadway drives, walking tours, and vintage trips are added, it builds history so future viewers can go “back in time” and see what it was like, back then.

Roadtripping and traveling are uniquely American pastimes- and we should preserve it’s history- so future generations can appreciate the Freedom of the Road.

Please like the videos and subscribe to the channel. Leaving comments is a great way to tell ME what you’d like to see next.

Let's Drive! The Campground at Poinsett State Park South Carolina Camping Review

This is a drive up the road to the campground at South Carolina's Poinsett State Park. This is a narrow road and it leads to an unpaved campground road which I imagine would be a mess after heavy rains.

From their official website (

In the High Hills of Santee, where the South Carolina Sandhills of the Midlands region meet the coastal plain region, you’ll find Poinsett State Park. Called the mountains of the midlands, this mixed ecosystem yields a high degree of biodiversity and some of the most unique natural sightings in the park system, especially along the Palmetto trail which winds through the Manchester State Forest.

The High Hills of Santee are dotted with the hiking and biking trails that wind through the park–some of which connect to the Palmetto Trail that leads hikers through the Manchester State Forest. Poinsett’s 10-acre lake makes for a serene setting, and can be used for fishing and johnboat rentals. The park also offers campsites, a fishing pond, a coquina bathhouse built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, pre-revolutionary grist mill ruins and rustic cabins.

Camping Information: The campground provides 24 sites with individual water and electrical hookups and 26 tent sites with individual water. Some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. The campground is convenient to restroom facilities with hot showers. All sites include water, picnic table and a fire ring.
