TRAVEL GUIDE South Africa: Ultimate Road Trip from CAPE TOWN to Namibia!
Welcome to South Africa! Join us on an epic adventure, road tripping through the vineyards, incredible landscapes and safari parks. We start in Cape Town and drive all the way up the West Coast to the Kalahari Desert. On the way we camp out in the wild with our 4x4 camper with rooftop tents. We make a stop at Cape Town, West Coast National Park, Langebaan Lagoon, Vredendal, Uppington and the Kgadagali Transfrontier Park.
In the previous episode you already saw our visit to Zanzibar and Tanzania, for the best beaches and safaris in Africa. Now we drive our own camper through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. After that we'll also hop on to Mauritius and Reunion!
We make our journey through Africa during a world trip of one and a half year. We may even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines . Zanzibar and Tanzania are already destination number 21 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for a year. Follow us on this world tour, first in Tanzania, from Zanzibar to the safari parks on the mainland and then to many more beautiful destinations in Africa! S1 – Ep 220 – Philippolis – A Little Town Situated in the Middle of South Africa!
The gravel road I had planned to take from Vanderkloof Dam to Philippolis was closed to the public so we had to take a detour of almost 200km to reach our destination, which meant we would only arrive in the dark. This actually gave us the opportunity to see this little town in a different light to how we normally see the places we visit. Since we arrived too late to explore, we booked into our accommodation at the Philippolis Hotel for the night, enjoyed pizza for supper and woke up ready for a day to explore. Situated in the middle of South Africa, this amazing town has a rich history and so many places of interest. S1 – Ep 233 – Port Nolloth – A Small Seaport in the Namaqualand Region!
The drive from Nababeep to Port Nolloth was a longer drive than we usually take, but we could make up some time because it was a tarred road all the way. Driving through the Namaqualand region was absolutely incredible. The beauty of this stark landscape was good for our soul. The first thing we did as we arrived in the small seaport town of Port Nolloth was to buy something to eat and fish and chips was so appropriate. After a delicious lunch, we started to explore and found this to be a beautiful little town. The houses all along the beach, the seaport and the coastline all made a great impression. Of course, we couldn’t come to Port Nolloth and not visit McDougall’s Bay. The caravan park and all the cute cottages were stunning! S1 – Ep 230 – Springbok – The Largest Town in the Namaqualand of the Northern Cape!
The road from Komaggas to Springbok might have been a tarred road, but it was stunning all the same. The Spektakel Pass was made so much more of a spectacle because of the story behind its name. When we arrived in the bustling Northern Cape town of Springbok, we could immediately see why it is the largest town in Namaqualand. We knew straightaway that we would not be able to cover even a small percentage of the town with the limited time to our disposal, so we just took a drive through and saw what we could. Then it was off to our accommodation about 10km outside of Springbok, where we had a fantastic time with a view to die for. This video was mostly shot in Vrendendal. Parts was also shot at Fryer's Cove in Standfontein and the waterfall was shot at the 'Waterval' Resort near Vanrhynsdorp. This video was shot just for the fun of it.
Vredendal to Nieuwoudtville (camping at a galaxy far far away!)
We continue our epic road-trip on the R27 from Cape Town to Keimoes in the Northern Cape. In our previous clip we meandered our way between Velddrif and Vredendal on parts of the R27 that were never completed.
In this video we pick up the scent of the R27 in Vredendal and continue to Nieuwoudtville, and more specifically Star Wors. En-route we visited arguably the best inland fish and chips shop, explored the haunts of Vanrhynsdorp, had a glimpse of the worlds second largest tie collection and had pancakes and ginger beer at the curiously delightful Bagdad Café. Our destination, a galaxy far far away and an otherworldly camping experience at Star Wors. Don't just take our word for it, come ride with us!

Donkieskraal, Leipoldtville, Western Cape | Campsite Review
Donkieskraal is a unique campsite. It is situated on a game farm and this gives a whole different dimension to the camp. It is situated in the Sandveld, 50 km form Lamberstbay. The camp is very well kept and offers, beside great views of the sunset, also game viewing, a conference centre with a honesty bar and a rock pool. It is pet friendly and we had a great time staying at the camp. It is really well maintained.

The small town of Van Rhynsdorp lies about 300 km of Cape Town in South Africa's Western Cape Province. It is on the southern fringe of the arid area that stretches north to Namibia. I visited the town on a quiet weekday morning in June 2016.
I filmed this video with a Sony camera and a DJI Phantom 4 drone.
