Periana es un municipio español de la provincia de Málaga, en la comunidad autónoma de Andalucía. Está situado en la comarca de la Axarquía, a 58 kilómetros de Málaga, rodeado de montañas.
Se distinguen grandes formaciones montañosas, como son las sierras de Alhama (1500 m) y de Enmedio (1416 m), además de Sierra Tejeda. Las zonas más iluminadas de estas sierras, y zonas cercanas, se encuentran cubiertas por una variedad de encina básofila (suelos básicos) de talla media (5-9 m). White-painted town and cave dwellings: Setenil de las Bodegas, Andalusia, Spain
Welcome to Setenil de las Bodegas, one of the most unique places in Spain. This town is one of the pueblo blancos (white villages) of Andalusia, Spain. From the Mirador del Carmen, you can see the row of white houses dotting the hilly landscape. The town is also famous for its cave dwellings: many buildings were built under rocks, a truly marvelous sight. The town itself was initially a Muslim fort that was very difficult to conquer. It fell to the Spanish in 1484. On the top of the hill, you can still see the remains of the Moorish castle. A unique sight ideal for a day trip from Sevilla.
