We had a brilliant time in Lugo, its packed with history and amazing buildings. Our little vanlife park up was just a 10 minute from the centre of the city and very safe.

Within the fortress is a beautifully preserved web of streets and squares, most of them traffic-free and ideal for strolling, with plenty of interesting things to see (nearly all free) and a terrific tapas-bar scene. Lucus Augusti was a major town of Roman Galicia and modern Lugo is a quiet but engaging city, with a good number of other Roman remains besides the walls.

The fifth and last section of the Camino del Norte, the Northern Way route of the famous Camino de Santiago, starts in the market town of Vilalba and takes pilgrims across Galicia’s farmland and lush country side all the way to Santiago de Compostela. You will be also joining the famous French Way in Arzúa, so you get the best of both worlds: a less travelled path on the Northern Way and the most popular and social trail on the French Way.
One of the highlights of this trip is the magnificent monastery in Sobrado dos Monxes. Since you will be walking over 100km, don’t forget to stamp your pilgrim passport and request your Compostela certificate when you reach Santiago!

Villalba (Vilalba en gallego) es un municipio español perteneciente a la provincia de Lugo y capital de la comarca de Tierra Llana (Terra Chá), en la comunidad autónoma de Galicia. Está situado a 34 kilómetros de la capital de la provincia en dirección norte.
La villa está dominada por el Torreón de los Condes de Andrade, título históricamente ligado al Condado de Lemos, y actualmente Parador Nacional de Villalba.
La villa tiene la originalidad de poseer un árbol con nombre propio, la Pravia, que es un arce blanco situado a la entrada del pueblo, por la carretera general, muy cerca del Parador.

The fourth section of the Camino del Norte, the Northern Way route of the famous Camino de Santiago, starts in the coastal city of Gijón by the Cantabrian Sea. This is a fabulous Camino trail following the coast most of the way and taking pilgrims through pretty seaside villages and fishing towns in Asturias such as Luarca and Navia. As you cross the bridge over the Eo River you will reach the lively town of Ribadeo, entering Galicia. Ribadeo is a home to the spectacular Cathedrals Beach (Praia das Catedrais), Galicia’s second most visited site after Santiago Cathedral.
From Ribadeo, the Camino del Norte heads inland across the rolling green hills towards the once important town of Mondoñedo with its fantastic medieval architecture, cathedral, monastery and grand homes. All along the Asturian and Galician coast you will be rewarded with stunning scenery and architecture, as well as delicious local food, particularly fish and seafood; not forgetting Asturias famous cider.
