???????? CÓCORIT & ESPERANZA, SONORA | Mexico's Most PEACEFUL Pueblitos? | Ciudad OBREGÓN | Mexico Travel
???????? CÓCORIT & ESPERANZA, SONORA - For Part 14 of my 2022 Mexico Travel Series we are still based in Ciudad Obregón in the state of Sonora in Northern Mexico, but this time we’re heading out of the town to one of the local Yaqui towns (an indigenous people in Mexico) called Cócocit as well as it’s neighbour, the pretty regular town of Esperanza. Are these two of Mexico’s most peaceful small towns? (pueblitos)
Cócocit has history in relation to the Yaqui, an indigenous group stretching all the way up to Arizona. They do a deer dance symbolising the relationship between nature and people. I went on a Monday afternoon (purposely) when it was extremely quiet, obviously going at the weekend would have been better if I had wanted to see people or go to the museum. Despite that, I cover some of the things to do in Cócorit.
We have some classic comida Mexicana (Mexican food) - Obispos, a cross between nieves and raspados. We also get a sense of what small towns in Mexico are like!
If you’re thinking of becoming an expat in Mexico or moving to Mexico, northern Mexico is an option! Don’t just think Guanajuato is your only option! Is Mexico safe? Is Mexico dangerous? Nowhere is safe!

Street musicians entertaining pedestrians in Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico. They were performing on the roads center divider in front of the restaurant where we were eating tacos al pastor while driving towards Belize.
These musicians entertain on the streets of Tulum where there is usually a lot of tourists in the hopes of making some money.

Amigos en mi primer salida fuera de México visitamos este rinconcito Nayarita en Arizona, un lugar en donde disfrutamos de unos ricos mariscos con todo el sazón de Nayarit, acompañado de Elvira muy conocida como @elviscochoooo así la pueden encontrar en todas las redes sociales.
Por acá disfrutamos de unos tradicionales camarones a la cucaracha y un molcajete kora, ambos de las especialidades de este lugar.

Voladores de Papantla
Según la leyenda Totonaca, los Dioses dijeron a los hombres Bailen, nosotros observaremos. Los hombres-pájaro o voladores son una tradición mexicana consistente en una danza espectacular para agradar a los Dioses.
Un grupo de hombres se suben a un poste de 30 metros de alto, se atan una cuerda a la cintura y se lanzan de cabeza al vacío con los brazos abiertos, girando alrededor del poste. Al mismo tiempo, uno de ellos toca música indígena con instrumentos musicales de madera hechos a mano. La flauta representa el canto de las aves y el tambor representa la voz de Dios. Esta danza es también un símbolo de los cuatro puntos cardinales (la plataforma de cuatro lados y los cuatro voladores). El volador principal, el músico, baila en la parte superior del poste y gira hacia los cuatro puntos cardinales, comenzando por el Oriente pues es ahí donde se origina la vida. Cada volador gira 13 veces, esta cifra multiplicada por los 4 voladores resulta en 52 círculos en total, puesto que según el calendario maya, cada 52 años forman un ciclo solar, y cada año está compuesto de 52 semanas, después de las cuales un nuevo sol nace y la vida sigue su curso.
Los voladores arriesgan así su vida, de manera que el nuevo sol pueda nacer, y la tierra se llene de felicidad.
