MORE INFO ABOUT THE VIDEO ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
Spain is a complex country! It’s also a pretty easy going one. But there are certain things that you just don’t want to get wrong. And here they are!

11. Don’t go OTT on please and thank you.
In Spanish we just don’t use the words as much. We are more likely to work ‘please’ and ’thank you’ into the tone of how we speak, or by tweaking the words (such as adding “ito” to the end of a word).

10. Don’t put bread on your plate.
In Spain, you always leave your bread beside your plate on the table. It sites beside your cutlery, because it kind of is a piece of cutlery.

9. Don’t eat with your hand under the table.
I grew up with no elbows on the table. But here in Spain we also have the rule that you should have your hands above the table at all times. Because you might have a knife??

8. Don’t offer guests a beer at 5pm
Because we eat lunch and dinner later, beer o’clock is usually about 8pm… not 5pm.

7. Don’t help with the dishes after parties.
It’s just not something that’s done here. At the end of a party or dinner party, you might help tidy up slightly, but you don’t help do the dishes.

6. Don’t be a ‘pesado’ in social situations.
Chill out! Don’t ask people what their job is straight away when you meet them in a social setting and don’t expect people to cut to the chase when telling a story - we take our time here!

5. Don’t misinterpret loud conversations.
When Yoly speaks with her mother on the phone, it can get heated. But they’re not arguing - it’s just that conversations here often sound more intense.

4. Don’t generalise about Spain.
This is a highly regional country. So don’t assume that every region of Spain has the same language, customs or food.

3. Don’t call Catalan a dialect of Spanish.
Catalan is its own language - and don’t get that wrong (especially when speaking to a Catalan)

2. Don’t used ‘usted’ willy nilly.
Here in Spain we’re pretty informal and so don’t use “usted” unless we’re speaking with older people or in very formal situations.

1. Don’t mention the civil war casually.
The Spanish civil war and the dictatorship is a really complex topic, and still an open wound in Spain. So wait until you know someone pretty well before diving into the topic.

# 1. Catille and Leon: Vineyard tour with wine tasting
No trip to Valladolid would be complete without sampling some of the local cuisine. The city is known for its delicious food, with a particular emphasis on meat and wine. Our absolute number 1 tip is to enjoy a Vineyard Tour with Wine Tasting. Begin your tour with an exploration of the vineyard's 15 plots. See the grapes growing in the sun and learn about the vineyard's organic farming processes. Following the same path as the grapes, continue to the fermentation and barrel-aging process area. Learn about Spanish viticulture, wander through Finca Villacreces' vineyard near Valladolid, see the fermentation process, and enjoy a tasting of local wines. We have selected the best wine tour for you in our opinion, you can book tickets for this via the link in the description. We recommend booking this trip in advance, as the tour is very popular.

VALLADOLID - Deepest Darkest Spain // AMAZING HISTORICAL CITY OF WINE AND TAPAS

Here at Lailandi Adventures we are not too keen on the month of January, it's cold, it's dark and it's freaking cold. However because we're notorious badasses we decided, instead of venturing to warmer climes, that we'd go to one of the coldest cities in Spain and the hometown of Cris.

Valladolid is unfairly overlooked by visitors to Spain and we aim to set it right. Very few cities can stand up to it for history, cuisine and architecture (and the beach of course!) and in this video we aim to uncover the hidden charms of this great city!

Come join us!

VALLADOLID, YUCATAN MEXICO | Best Things To Do In Valladolid

Find the best things to do in Valladolid Mexico here. Valladolid is nestled in the eastern part of the Yucutan in Mexico. There are about 45,000 residents here, including the surrounding small communities. It’s also only 40 kilometers from Chichen Itza, one of the seven world wonders. Here are the best things to do in Valladolid from our perspective:

6: Visiting Cenote Suytun. This cenote has become a social media sensation in recent years because of its unique man-made platform that extends to the middle of the water. If it’s a sunny day, the light will shine through the cenote roof directly onto the platform. You can also visit Cenote Kaapeh right next to it. It’s included in the price of admission and definitely worth the visit as it has jungle vines and trees growing out of it.

5: The 5th best activity we did in Valladolid was Rio Lagartos. It took about an hour and a half to drive through the Yucatan jungle to the small fishing town and then we hopped on a boat tour once we got there. On the tour, we saw alligators, flamingos, pelicans, and even a small pink lake.

4. Exploring the city of Valladolid. This city blew our minds with how colorful it was! We took a free walking tour and learned about the Spanish and Mayan history of the city. It was also a great experience to visit the Convento de San Bernadino de Siena in the evening. The town puts on a light show every night, telling the story of the city and how it came to be.

3: Cenote Xkeken. This unique cave cenote had giant stalactites cascading from the roof as well as long vines that extended all the way into the water. It was a magical experience to swim amongst the vines and look up to the sunlight above. We also purchased a discounted ticket to Cenote Samula, which was within a 5 minute walk. It was worth it to see the one of the brightest blue cenotes we’ve seen so far in the Yucatan.

2. Visiting Chichen Itza. This world wonder was immaculately kept, especially the main pyramid of El Castillo. Standing at 98 feet tall, it stands alone in the center of the ruins and is extremely beautiful. The crowds were large due to its world wonder status, but we still had a great tour experience thanks to our knowledgeable guide who looped us into some fascinating Mayan history.

1. The best activity to do in Valladolid is visiting the ancient ruins of Ek Balam. We ranked this number one because of how much it surprised us. It felt much larger than Chichen Itza, had amazing rock art, and we were allowed to climb up the stairs on both of the major pyramids. Being able to touch and feel the structures brought us closer to understanding the true beauty and intricacy of the Mayan culture.
