Puerto Rico Road Trip, Exploring from San Juan to Utuado! - The Traveling Tacos
In November, 2020 The Traveling Tacos traveled down to Puerto Rico to unwind and unplug for a nice, relaxing long weekend. We booked stays in San Juan and Lago Caonillas in Utuado and had the most unbelievable time exploring through the rainforest jungles on our way up the mountains.

We spent the weekend eating the most incredible food (including LOTS of Mofongo!), touring coffee farms, and learning all about the land and the native Puerto Ricans, The Tainos.
It was a vacation from heaven, that was until we got a flat tire!!! We made the most of what we could, but it definitely changed our trip and kept us from exploring more, but we still loved what we saw and can't wait to come back!

Cafe Gran Batey was the most wonderful stop during our time in Puerto Rico! We loved this adorable coffee plantation so much and had such a wonderful experience touring their farm and learning all about the coffee roasting process.

The lovely family who owns the entire 17-acre farm, gave us the tour directly and showed us so much we didn't know about. Thankfully we timed our tour perfectly, and another family with us who could translate her Spanish for us!
Their farm is ecological and used composting and other natural ways to nourish its plants. It is very unique and special in its processes, and it was fascinating to see!

Must-See Places In Puerto Rico | Part 1: Coffee, Mountains, Culture and Canyons
Hi and Welcome to our channel. Today we are sharing with you some Must-See places in Puerto Rico in an Epic Road trip through the mountains of the Island. We are taking you to Hacienda Tres Picachos for a delicious Coffee, then we will take you to an awesome Taíno Museum and later to an amazing breathtaking Canyon!

OUR FUN TORO NEGRO ADVENTURE AND CHARCO DONA JUANA!
Our first stop is Café Tres Picachos! Established in 1960, the family-owned Hacienda Tres Picachos is a must stop if you are in Jayuya. The Hacienda is surrounded by a breathtaking view of the Tres Picachos Mountains and full of historical antiques and objects related to Taino and Puerto Rican culture.
Piedra escrita translates roughly as Engraved Stone. The area is a large, protected park with a good parking lot and a beautiful long boardwalk that takes you to the river, so getting there is quite accessible. The Piedra escrita itself is right in the river at the end of the boardwalk.
El Cemi Museum, devoted to ancient religious artifacts of the Taino culture.
Canon Blanco is a water carved canyon on the caonillas river. The bright white color, smooth texture and interesting shapes of the towering rocks make it a truly unique landscape in Puerto Rico and in the whole world. The most famous boulder in the canyon is called El Sofa because it looks like a huge couch.

Hidden gems in Manatí, Arecibo and Utuado, Puerto Rico
We went to Mar Chiquita Beach in Manatí, it was a week day so we pretty much had the whole beach for ourselves! We then traveled about 20 minutes west to Arecibo where we visited the statue of Christopher Columbus. Then headed to Cueva del Indio (about 5 minutes away in car from the statue) ate some good food at Carbon Y Leña Restaurant (great food and service!) not too far from there and we ended that day at Cañon Blanco in Utuado. It was a long day and Im thankful for my cousing for taking me all over without hesitation :)

Siempre puedes subirte al coche y dirigirte al Lago Dos Bocas hacia el centro de la isla, donde puedes disfrutar de un paseo en barco alrededor del lago o, para hacer un día más largo, ir a uno de los restaurantes junto al lago y disfrutar de bebidas o una comida mientras admiras las vistas.
Lago Dos Bocas es un lago artificial situado entre Arecibo y Utuado. Fue construido en 1942 por lo que ahora es la Autoridad de Energía Eléctrica de Puerto Rico (PREPA) bloqueando los ríos Arecibo y Caonillas donde se encuentran. Allí, hicieron una presa e instalaron una planta hidroeléctrica. La represa todavía se utiliza para generar electricidad, y el hermoso lago se utiliza como depósito de agua potable y para el disfrute del público. La ruta hacia el lago es fácil de seguir: hay grandes señales que apuntan al área de estacionamiento del embarcadero. En el estacionamiento, los representantes del restaurante tienen menús de muestra y fotos de su lugar. Los restaurantes están junto al lago, aunque algunos más arriba y otros cerca del nivel del agua. Tienen su propio barco que recoge a los clientes en el muelle y los lleva a su restaurante. Una vez que decidas a qué restaurante ir, el representante llamará al barco y se reunirán contigo en el muelle. Tenga en cuenta que estos restaurantes solo abren los fines de semana, generalmente desde las 11 a.m. hasta las 6 o 7 p.m. Puede que esté abierto a mediados de semana en julio. Lo mejor es llamar con antelación solo para asegurarse.Todos los restaurantes tienen precios similares: los aperitivos cuestan entre 3 y 7 dólares, las comidas principales entre 12 y 17 dólares. Casi todos los restaurantes aceptan Visa, MasterCard, ATH y efectivo. Es posible que desee consultar con el representante antes de abordar el barco.

A lot of persons were asking me to drive to Utuado, Puerto Rico. Well, this is your moment, I needed to go there and took the exit of Adjuntas & Utuado via road PR-10 and in this first you'll enjoy the amazing mountain views.
This pandemic times had been so difficult for everybody, and my wish is that everything could go back to normal, but I think that won't be happening anytime soon. So I just advice everybody to follow social distancing rules and wear a mask everywhere.
