Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal is a scenic city that has become a light industrial hub with much to offer the investor, from vacant land for development to first world infrastructure and a superb lifestyle. It is the home to the grammy-award winning group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who feature in the video. It is also an historic city that played a major role in the Anglo Boer War and is on the famous battlefield route which attracts thousands of visitors every year from around the world. With the Big 5 Nambithi Game Reserve on its border and in close proximitiy to the uKhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Site it has world-class leisure attractions on its doorstep. Travelling up Eshowe pass during KZN riots : South Africa.
Trying to travel home during the July riots, we took a chance and decided to run the gauntlet up the KZN north coast, via Eshowe and home. We had no idea if there would be rioters on the way home, whether the road would be blockaded, whether there would be people throwing bricks and petrol bombs - thank God it was quiet, so we didn't hang about, but got going and we made it home safely. It was great to see the local community cleaning up the mess that the rioters had made.

Join us on a weekend away where we travel from Pretoria to Sondela's Tambuki 4x4 Camp and Dinokeng Game Reserve's Kyleu Bush Camp. We enjoyed the silence of the bush and found a hidden gem in Dinokeng.

Hello everyone, welcome to SA Today. On 21 October 2023, we start today's video in Mossel Bay with rain and also in George. After heavy rains the Brakrivier was in flood today in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. We will also show Hazelwood in Pretoria and show more videos from around South Africa.
Weather forecast across South Africa today:
In the far southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the southeast of the Eastern Cape, heavy rain that could cause floods, loss of life, and damage to property is expected. A Yellow Level 2 means that heavy thunderstorms with flash flooding from sudden rain are likely to happen in the eastern parts of the Cape Wineland and Overberg, Garden Route, Central Karoo (West Cape), and Karoo Hoogland (North Cape) districts. Heavy rain that could cause flooding, loss of life, and damage to property is likely over the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, excluding the southern coast and the nearby interior. A strong low-pressure system is expected to bring heavy rains this weekend. Combined with the high water table in the Eastern Cape, this could cause widespread pooling and floods in the eastern half.

The entire Emerging Destinations team recently visited our newest client Babanango Game Reserve, an African Habitat Conservancy project in South Africa. And wow, just wow!
Babanango Game Reserve is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s newest wildlife parks. Soon to be home to the “Big 5” of African animals, the malaria-free reserve is set on the White Umfolozi River in Zululand’s Babanango Valley. Babanango offers three overnight options: Zulu Rock Lodge, Babanango Valley Lodge and Matatane Camp, all of which the team had the privilege of visiting. Ana and Jessie got to witness 6 giraffes be released onto the 22,000-hectare reserve while Jane and Jenna had the privilege of vising the old copper mines on the reserve.
We can't wait to tell you all about our trips and the magic that it Babanango Game Reserve.
South African Railway Safari - KwaZulu-Natal - October 2013
As part of a tourist trip to South Africa, I managed to grab a few shots of trains in some locations around KwaZulu-Natal. We even found where Winston Churchill was captured whilst he was riding an armoured train during the Second Boer War.
South Africa 2011 - Part 2
Took a trip to Isandhlwana and Rorke's Drift battle sites in KwaZulu-Natal, during 25th and 26th August 2011. Overnighted in Isandhlwana Lodge and enjoyed the magnificent hospitality. Unmatched views from our room, King Cetshwayo's Room (Cetshwayo kaMpande). Isandlhwana Lodge is carved into the iNyoni rock overlooking Mount Isandlhwana, the site of the historic Anglo-Zulu war battle which took place on the 22nd of January, 1879 -- where the greatest single defeat of the British Army at the hands of a native army took place. Surplus revenue generated by Isandhlwana Lodge goes to the local Tribal Trust for use in building schools, clinics and enhancing the life of villagers. Isandhlwana is approximately 10 miles south-east of Rorke's Drift and 105 miles north by north-west of Durban. The cairns on the battlefield site mark the mass graves of circa 1,300 soldiers -- lives lost due to the invincible stupidity of their commander, Lord Chelmsford, in contrast to the superb Zulu generalship. The Battle of Rorke's Drift took place on 23rd January 1879.
