Wartburg Castle, located close to Eisenach in Thuringia, is also known as The Castle of the Germans. But why?
DW's Hannah Hummel shows you around the castle, which is more than 1,000 years old. A fascinating journey to the times of minstrels, knights and ladies of castles - and to the famous Protestant Martin Luther, who translated the bible at Wartburg Castle.

Rotenburg an der Fulda, Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt im Nordosten von Hessen
Bei unserem Besuch in Rotenburg an der Fulda (rund 15.500 Einwohner - Hessen) schauen wir uns u.a. die Fuldabrücke und die Stiftskirche „St. Elisabeth und Marien“. In der Altstadt begeistert uns das Landgrafenschloss im Stil der Renaissance, das alte Rathaus und die Pfarrkirche St. Jakobi.

The beautiful city of Cochem is located Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
It’s a traditional German town with half-timbered houses, medieval city gates, beautiful streets, cozy restaurants that serves special regional delicacies.
Cochem is easily accessible by public transport.
Since I live in Frankfurt, I opted to travel by train from Frankfurt to Koblenz to Treis Karden.And then started hiking from Treis Karden to Cochem to enjoy the spectacular view of the wineyards and the Mosel river.However you can also reach to Cochem directly by train from Koblenz.
There are many things to do in Cochem like stroll around the Cochem promenade, take a walk through the beautiful streets,visit the Living Legend - Reichsburg Castle from where we have magnificent views of the Mosel River.
Don’t forget to raise your glasses and toast each other with a glass of wine and say “Cheers” - Yes Resiling wine is a must try in Cochem.
Wartburg Castle - UNESCO World Heritage Site
The UNESCO World Heritage site of Wartburg Castle is a beautiful, fairytale-style castle in central Germany. Originally dating back to the 11th century, most of the buildings today date from the 19th century. Although the castle was never of particular military importance, it has a very important place in German culture. St Elizabeth of Hungary lived here, Martin Luther translated the Greek Bible into German here, and it was also the setting for the Sangerkrieg, a battle of minstrels later immortalised in Wagner's opera Tannhauser.

Wartburg Castle In Eisenach, Germany! Famous For Martin Luther & More!
During our travels in Germany we visited the Wartburg castle just outside the town of Eisenach in Thuringia. This castle has stood for nearly 1000 years and while it has a ton of history and was the home of Saint Elizabeth, it's arguably more famous for Martin Luther. Kicking off the Protestant Reformation got him branded as a heretec by the Pope and it was here at the Wartburg that he hid for about 10 months and translated the bible into German. We stayed in the nearby town of Treffurt and loved our rental house here so much we decided to do a tour!

Morgens eine der bedeutendsten Burgen erkunden, im Anschluss eine ausgedehnte Wanderung durch unbeschreibliche Landschaften unternehmen und am Abend durch eine schöne Altstadt flanieren . All das geht an einem einzigen Tag in #Eisenach.
Die Burg ist natürlich die #Wartburg.
Und nach meiner Wanderung durch die Drachen- und Landgrafenschlucht teile ich Goethes Meinung, dass die Landschaft hier überherrlich ist.
