بحيرة تورتوم تبعد حوالي الـ 105 كيلو متر عن مركز مدينة ارضروم.
و يصل طول بحيرة تورتوم حوالي الـ 10 كم ، أما عرضها فيتراوح بين 600 و 1000 متر و بعمق 40 - 50 متر .
تحيط بالبحيرة الطبيعة الساحرة من جبال صخرية عالية و أحراش الخضراء.

Türkiye'nin en yüksek, Dünya'nın ise en yüksek 3. şelalesi. 48 metre yüksekliğe, 22 metre genişliğe sahip olan şelale, 1700'lü yıllarda Balıklı köyü civarındaki bir dağın heyelanı sonucu Çoruh Nehrinin bir kolu olan Tortum Çayının önünü kesmesi sonucu oluşmuştur.

Erzurum Tortum Waterfall
Turkey's highest, the world's third highest waterfall. The waterfall has a height of 48 meters and a width of 22 meters. The waterfall was formed as a result of the landslide of a mountain which is near Balıklı village in the 1700's. As a result of the mountain was closed the way of Tortum Stream, a branch of the Coruh River.
I recommend VR (Virtual Reality) glasses for best viewing.

Yılın her mevsimi güzelliği ile ziyaretçileri büyüleyen Şelale, Şelalenin aktığı yere dipteki dev kazanına ise çok uzun, demir korkuluklu taş merdivenlerden inilmekte, diğer taraftaki merdivenleri takip ederek tekrar üst bölüme çıkılabilmektedir. Şelalenin önünde yer alan izleme balkonu, ziyaretçilerin ıslanma pahasına, büyük ilgisini çekmektedir.
İzleme merdivenlerinin nefes darlığı ve kalp rahatsızlıklarını önlediğine inanılmaktadır. Uluslararası turizme açık bir alan olan Tortum Şelalesi, doğa tutkunlarını kendine hayran bırakan eşsiz bir güzellik sunar. Şelale, özellikle Mayıs ve Haziran aylarında bütün görkemiyle kendini gösterirken Haziran’dan sonra su miktarında azalma olmaktadır. Düşen su seviyesi de Tortum Şelalesi’ne farklı bir güzellik katmaktadır. Şelale ve çevresi, aynı zamanda önemli mesire alanlarından birini oluşturmaktadır.
Tortum Şelalesi'ne 1952-1960 yılları arasında hidroelektrik santrali yapılmış ve Türkiye'nin elektrik arzına katkıda bulunmaya başlamıştır. Uzundere ilçesinde bulunan bu doğa harikası, Erzurum ilinin 100 km kuzeyinde, Uzundere ilçesine 16 km mesafede ve Tortum gülünün kuzey kenarında yer almaktadır.
