Things to do in Donghae, Gangwon-do, Korea(외국인이 좋아하는 동해 관광지)

Things to do in Donghae, Gangwon-do, Korea(외국인이 좋아하는 동해 관광지)

Donghae is a city in Gangwon Province, South Korea. There are two major ports: Donghae Harbor and Mukho Harbor. The city is located on the Yeongdong Line railroad and the Donghae Expressway. Numerous caverns are found in the city, as in neighboring Samcheok. Hanzhong University was located here.

Donghae City is located in the central region of the east coast of Korea in Gangwon-do. Jeongseon county to the west and Gangneung city to the north. It contains the southern terminus of the Donghae Expressway, and the No. 7 national way passes through the city.
The city is mostly mountainous and has natural resources such as Mureung Valley and beautiful beaches. Here, the high Taebaek Mountains lie along the eastern coast, preventing rivers from meeting the coast.[1] However, in the rainy season, spontaneous water flow is possible.
It takes 2 and half hour when you take Yeongdong Expressway from Seoul by car.

Chotdaebawi(Candlestick Rock)
• Neungpadae is a well-known place as its picture was used for background image of the national anthem. Beautiful surroundings of various shapes of rocks including high rising Chotdaebawi are marvelous. The place is especially perfect to see sun rising. Han Myeonghoe, the governor of Gangwon province in Joseon Dynasty was fascinated by its view and called it Neungpadae by which means walking of a beautiful woman. Near the place is located Haeamjeong that Sim Dongro, a famous scholar in Goryeo Dynasty withdrew from his office and built for nurturing younger students.

Mukho Port
Mukho Port opened in 1941 and had been the largest port until Donghae Port opened. Currently it is now the base for fishery of the East Sea where passenger ships sail between Mukho Port and Ulleung-do and cruise ships to Dok-do.
You can taste fresh raw fish at Mukho and Eodal sushi towns lined along the 2km-long beach.

Dojebigol
It is a tourist destination with various experience facilities so that you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the East Sea in Dojebigol, located between Mukho Lighthouse and Wolso housing site. The name 'Dojebi' is a dialect of 'Dokkaebi(Goblin)'. Opened in May 2021, Dojebigol Sky Valley encompasses convenience facilities such as the Dokkaebi Art House, which sells food and souvenirs centering on the Sky Walk, Sky Cycle, and Giant Slide, which are experience facilities, and a ticket office. The strength of Dojebigol Sky Valley is that it combines a view of the landscape and unique leisure sports. You can enjoy the blue sky and sea of Donghae city through the 59m high Skywalk overlooking the vast East Sea, the Skycycle, a bicycle that runs in the sky along the cable wire connecting both structures, and the Giant Slide, which slides down about 30m down the cylindrical slide. You can enjoy an exhilarating experience in the background. The skywalk facing the sea gives you the thrill of walking in the sky by making the floor of the main points of clear glass.

My family and I took a trip to Donghae (동해시), South Korea!

Hi Guys! Back in November, my family and I took a trip to Donghae (동해시), South Korea. Donghae is located on the cost of the East Sea, and is just south of Gangneung, Gangwon Province, where part of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics are currently being held. Donghae is considered the Santorini of Korea. As you can see, the ocean is quite beautiful from here. It gets cold in the winter, and we were there in November, so it was cold enough for us to have to wear our puffy jackets. This was our first time staying in an Airbnb. The one we chose was really cozy and homey, and the host was wonderful. When we wanted to have a BBQ on the deck, she came to start the BBQ grill and even gave us some sweet potatoes to grill. She was also very responsive when we had questions. Overall it was a great experience. The only downside was that the bathroom was freezing. But it would be a nice place to stay in the summer.

[4K] Samhwasa Temples and Twin waterfall in Donghae - What to visit in Korea? #20

Samhwasa Temple is located near the entrance of the Mureung Valley of Dutasan Mountain in the City of Donghae, Gangwon Province. The one-thousand year old, small but historical temple falls under the supervision of Woljeongsa Temple. It was originally named “Geukryeondae” when built by monk Jijangyulsa during the eleventh year of Queen Seonseok of the Silla Kingdom (AD 642). In 864 it was renamed Samgongam by the chief monk, and during the reign of King Taejo of the Goryeo dynasty, it changed to the current name, Samhwasa Temple.

The temple houses the main shrine (also called Yaksajeon), Jeokkwangjeon, Beomjonggak pavilion, Geukrakjeon shrine, Birojeon shrine, Chilseongdan shrine, and Muhyanggak pavilion. The temple is also home to national treasures No. 1277 (three story stone pagoda) and No. 1292 (steel sitting Buddha statue).

Samhwasa Temple operates a school teaching Buddhism and offers temple stay programs providing a beautiful, serene experience of temple life.

Mureunggyegok Valley, between Dutasan Mountain and Cheongoksan Mountain, refers to a four-kilometer stretch from Hoamso Pond to Yongchupokpo Falls upstream. The waters of Mureunggyegok Valley flow over wide sheets of rock and into the cracks between them, forming large and particularly nice ponds along the path. Starting at Mureung Rock, a wide sheet of single rock on which hundreds can sit, the valley trail twists and turns as it passes Samhwasa Temple, Haksodae, Ongnyudong, and Seonnyeotang Ravine, all the way to Ssangpokpo and Yongchupokpo Falls, providing breathtaking scenery along the way. Also known as Arcadia, scholars and poets frequented the valley in times past, and the 5,000 square meters of Mureung Rock bears the inscribed names of some of these poets and their work. The valley offers a medley of curious-looking rocks and stones, and other odd scenery that attracts many tourists.

MAP OF SOUTH KOREA

salutations my friends. this is a map of south korea.South Korea has a technologically advanced transport network consisting of high-speed railways, highways, bus routes, ferry services, and air routes that crisscross the country.

Korail provides frequent train services to all major South Korean cities. Two rail lines, Gyeongui and Donghae Bukbu Line, to North Korea are now being reconnected. The Korean high-speed rail system, KTX, provides high-speed service along Gyeongbu and Honam Line. Major cities including Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Daegu, Daejeon and Gwangju have urban rapid transit systems. Express bus terminals are available in most cities. thats all for now. thanks for listening. please subscribe for the best maps. goodbye. South Korea's main gateway and largest airport is Incheon International Airport, serving 58 million passengers in 2016. Other international airports include Gimpo, Busan and Jeju. There are also many airports that were built as part of the infrastructure boom but are barely used. There are also many heliports.

The national carrier, Korean Air served over 26,800,000 passengers, including almost 19,000,000 international passengers in 2016. A second carrier, Asiana Airlines also serves domestic and international traffic. Combined, South Korean airlines serve 297 international routes. Smaller airlines, such as Jeju Air, provide domestic service with lower fares.

South Korea is the world's fifth-largest nuclear power producer and the second-largest in Asia as of 2010. Nuclear power in South Korea supplies 45% of electricity production, and research is very active with investigation into a variety of advanced reactors, including a small modular reactor, a liquid-metal fast/transmutation reactor and a high-temperature hydrogen generation design. Fuel production and waste handling technologies have also been developed locally. It is also a member of the ITER project.

South Korea is an emerging exporter of nuclear reactors, having concluded agreements with the UAE to build and maintain four advanced nuclear reactors, with Jordan for a research nuclear reactor, and with Argentina for construction and repair of heavy-water nuclear reactors. As of 2010, South Korea and Turkey are in negotiations regarding construction of two nuclear reactors. South Korea is also preparing to bid on construction of a light-water nuclear reactor for Argentina.

South Korea is not allowed to enrich uranium or develop traditional uranium enrichment technology on its own, because of US political pressure, unlike most major nuclear powers such as Japan, Germany, and France, competitors of South Korea in the international nuclear market. This impediment to South Korea's indigenous nuclear industrial undertaking has sparked occasional diplomatic rows between the two allies. While South Korea is successful in exporting its electricity-generating nuclear technology and nuclear reactors, it cannot capitalize on the market for nuclear enrichment facilities and refineries, preventing it from further expanding its export niche. South Korea has sought unique technologies such as pyroprocessing to circumvent these obstacles and seek a more advantageous competition. The US has recently been wary of South Korea's burgeoning nuclear program, which South Korea insists will be for civilian use only.

South Korea is the third highest ranked Asian country in the World Economic Forum's Network Readiness Index (NRI) after Singapore and Hong Kong respectively – an indicator for determining the development level of a country's information and communication technologies. South Korea ranked number 10 overall in the 2014 NRI ranking, up from 11 in 2013.

Tourism in South Korea

Haeundae Beach in Busan
In 2016, 17 million foreign tourists visited South Korea. With rising tourist prospects, especially from foreign countries outside of Asia, the South Korean government has set a target of attracting 20 million foreign tourists a year by 2017.

South Korean tourism is driven by many factors, including the prominence of Korean pop culture such as South Korean pop music and television dramas, known as the Korean Wave or Hallyu, has gained popularity throughout East Asia. The Hyundai Research Institute reported that the Korean Wave has a direct impact in encouraging direct foreign investment back into the country through demand for products, and the tourism industry. Among East Asian countries, China was the most receptive, investing $1.4 billion in South Korea, with much of the investment within its service sector, a sevenfold increase from 2001. According to an analysis by economist Han Sang-Wan, a 1 percent increase in the exports of Korean cultural content pushes consumer goods exports up 0.083 percent while a 1 percent increase in Korean pop content exports to a country produces a 0.019 percent bump in tourism. #southkorea #korea #korean #southkoreatourism #mapschool #mapsolo #mapas #maps

Must things to do in Sokcho city in Gangwon-do, Korea(외국인이 좋아하는 속초 관광지)

Must things to do in Sokcho city in Gangwon-do, Korea(외국인이 좋아하는 속초 관광지)

Sokcho is a city in Gangwon Province, South Korea. It is located in the far northeast of Gangwon. The city is a major tourist hub, and a popular gateway to nearby Seoraksan national park. Upon the division of the Korean peninsula into two countries following World War II, Sokcho was on the North Korean side of the border, but since the Korean War armistice (1953), it has been a part of South Korea.

Sokcho used to have its own airport, linking the city to Seoul. Currently, the city is served by the Yangyang International Airport.
The opening of KTX Kyung Kang line has made it convenient for travelers to visit Gangwon-Do province which is only an 86-minute train ride that starts from Seoul and tons of attractions.

Mt. Seoraksan National Park
When granite rocks of Seorak is seen from a long distance, it reminds of snow so people call it “Seorak (Snow Rock).” Seoraksan has different atmosphere for every season. Remaining snow and tender green of Spring; thick forest in Summer; burning red maple trees in Autumn; and blossom of white snow flowers in Winter… No matter how many times you look at Seoraksan, it is always beautiful and miraculous. Since its dedication as the Korea’s first Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, Seoraksan is a world-famous mountain that will leap every visitor’s heart.
Seoraksan Cable Car
Cable Car takes you to the 670m high Gwongeumseong Fortress in just 5 minutes. As you move up away from the ground, you can enjoy the beauty of the Seorak, the Oeseorak ranges, and the East Sea on top of the Gwongeumseong Fortress.

Soft Tofu
There are soft tofu villages around Cheoksan Hot Spring and Pea Flower Village. Specialty is soft tofu using seawater as brine. Here, you can taste famous soft tofu and Hwangtae dishes.

Abai Village
Abai Village is made by refugees of the Korean War, who came to south side of Korea and never returned home. As time passed by, people from other areas have settled down too, but 60% of residents are still from Hamgyeong Province. Now, its official name is called Cheongho-dong, but still they call it Abai Village, which means grandfather in Hamgyeong dialect. This place is also famous for filming popular Korean drama 'Autumn in my Heart, and its famous Gaetbae is still operating to attract Japanese and Taiwanese tourists. Recently, it gained more popularity and attracting more visitors due to filming popular television show, 2 days and 1 night. '

Sokcho Tourist&Fishery Market
Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market is one of the most recognized traditional market nationwide. The market is located in the center of the city alongside two markets, and supplies fresh vegetables throughout the year, as well as lots of eateries, from fresh sashimi of the underground Sashimi Center, dakgangjeong chicken bites of the Dakjeon Alley, salted seafood of Jeotgal Alley, sundae (Korean blood pudding) soup, seed pancakes, vegetable and seaweed chips, and pancakes, attracting visitors with its noisy and unique charm.

Sashimi Town
As the famous home of live fish and sashimi, every harbor in Sokcho has their own sashimi town. Joongang-dong sashimi town is still maintaining its 70s atmosphere as a fishing village and friendly hospitality of the time. Their old signage tells us how long they have been here and this place is the best-recommended sashimi place by Sokcho natives. Daepo Harbor attracts many visitors from far away places with its fresh flatfish, fluke and yellow tail.

Zarina씨에게 감사의 말씀을 드립니다

Last September, Funday went on a two-day, one-night trip to Goseong, Gangwon-do with 30 specially selected expats. We would like to humbly say, that it was one of the best travel spots we have ever visited.
지난 9월 1박2일간 30명의 선발된 외국인 친구들과 강원도 고성으로 여행을 떠났는데요,
감히 말씀드리면 지금껏 저희가 방문했던 최고의 여행지 중 하나였어요.

Goseong, which is located north of the 38th parallel, was a part of North Korea prior to the 1953 Armistice which cases the Korean War. Therefore, wherever you are in Goseong, you can either see North Korea from a far distance or be super close to the mysterious country.

However, if you just associate Goseong with the DMZ, there are so many things you are missing! There are amazing attractions to see and enjoy, because Goseong allows you to fully experience the authentic Korean tradition as well.
하지만 단순히 고성을 DMZ 여행지로만 생각한다면 너무 많은 볼거리를 놓치게 되요!

Check out the 6 best things/places to visit/do in Goseong through our video ^^
