????????In this video we're heading to Cholula, YES it's the BIGGEST pyramid in the world (in terms of overall size, not height), located close to Puebla in Central Mexico, which itself is just 2 hours on the bus from Mexico City.
If you're looking for places to visit in Mexico or even as a (slightly long) day trip from CDMX, Cholula provides a great opportunity to not only visit this awesome sight but also learn more about Mexican history, Puebla itself, Popcatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes and more.
On the top of the pyramid (which isn't fully excavated, it looks like a large hill) is a church built by the Spanish in the 1600s. Inside you can marvel at the beautiful interior, chandelier and listen to traditional Mexican music, as well as have an amazing view!
You can also visit the museum and archaeological zone....it's a must do while you're in Mexico!

The Great Pyramid of Cholula, also known as Tlachihualtepetl is a huge complex located in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. It is the largest archaeological pyramid in the New World, as well as the largest pyramid known to mankind. It stands 180 ft above the surrounding plain and it measures 1,480 by 1,480 ft at its base. The temple was dedicated to the god Quetzalcoatl.

Inside the Worlds Biggest Pyramid | Great Pyramid of Cholula | English | Subsitles | Mexico
In this vlog we are going the world's biggest pyramid. The biggest pyramid in the world (built by the Aztecs) in found in Cholula, Mexico. Cholula is located to the east of Mexico city, in the state of Puebla.
The pyramid is not easily seen as it is covered by trees and grass. Looking at it from a distance only looks like a hill - especially since a catholic church (Our Lady of Remedies) has been built on top by the Spanish.
Inside the pyramid, we can follow the tunnels (There are 8kms of tunnels within the pyramid). It takes you through a series of turns - all flat, showcasing the different layers. The pyramid is actually 6 layers of different pyramids. The pyramid was built in sections, growing with each build - by different groups of people occupying the area.

Visita Cholula y Puebla de los Ángeles, déjate consentir por su deliciosa gastronomía, recorriendo Cholula y Puebla con nosotros y disfruta del mole, los chiles en nogada, dulces típicos y “la pasita” un licor artesanal hecho solamente en la Capital Poblana. En Cholula conoce la pirámide más grande del mundo de acuerdo a su base, admira sus paisajes, explora sus túneles y entra al Santuario de la Virgen de los Remedios ubicada en la cima del poliedro prehispánico.

Entre el 31 de agosto y el 18 de septiembre cada año se lleva una fiesta religiosa en su honor. Para comer, debes probar los tamales de frijol, asado verde y mole poblano, dulces como alegrías y pepitorias; ponche, sidra y dulces de leche.

Sin olvidar el Santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, la iglesia de cúpulas cubiertas de azulejos que los españoles edificaron en el siglo XVI. La colocaron justo encima de la Gran Pirámide, el basamento que más parece cerro que sitio arqueológico. Debajo van y vienen los días, la gente, la vida.

Zona Arqueológica de Cholula Puebla en 4K | Museo del Sitio y Túneles
La zona arqueológica de Cholula es un sitio histórico localizado en las inmediaciones de la Gran Pirámide de Cholula.
Se encuentra entre los municipios de San Pedro Cholula y de San Andrés Cholula, y su nombre deriva del vocablo náhuatl Cholollan, que significa agua que cae en el lugar de huida.
Se trata de uno de los asentamientos más antiguos de México, y presenta una ocupación continua desde el período preclásico superior. A pesar de ello, su importancia en Mesoamérica fue variable a lo largo de los dos mil años de historia de la civilización nativa de América central.
Zona arqueológica
La construcción más importante de la zona arqueológica es el Templo de Tláloc —venerado localmente por su nombre calendárico: Lluvia o Chiconquiáhuitl, basamento piramidal construido en distintas fases, dedicado a esa divinidad prehispánica y cuyo culto fue uno de los más importantes en toda el área mesoamericana.
Es una de las pirámides más voluminosas del mundo, y durante mucho tiempo permaneció en el olvido, creyéndose que era una montaña, sobre la cual fue construido un templo católico en la época colonial.
Este templo fue abandonado 100 años después de la caída de Teotihuacán, en tiempo de la hegemonía tolteca en Mesoamérica.
Para el 1300 d. C., Cholula fue abandonada por los toltecas y a la llegada de los españoles, en el año 1519, los cholultecas erán tributarios privilegiados de Tenochtitlan, y enemigos de los tlaxcaltecas.
A la llegada de los españoles el Templo de Quetzalcóatl, se ubicaba al lado poniente de la Gran Pirámide, el cual fue destruido y con sus piedras se edificaron los principales monumentos coloniales.
Cholula posee además notables ejemplos de pintura mural, como el llamado Mural de los Bebedores.

The Great Pyramid of Cholula, also known as Tlachihualtepetl, is a huge complex located in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. It's the largest archaeological site of a pyramid (temple) in the New World. The pyramid stands 55 metres above the surrounding plain, and in its final form it measured 400 by 400 metres.

No one knows who constructed this pyramid 2,300 years ago. Cortés missed it when he invaded the pyramid's hometown in 1519 and it wasn't rediscovered until 1910. Today it stands as the largest monument ever constructed.In 1910, construction workers in Mexico were building an insane asylum a top of what they presumed was an ordinary mountain.
Upon digging into the earth, they almost immediately discovered the ruins of an extremely ancient structure.
It was later realised, yet not largely shared with the world, that the hill is actually what is now classified as the largest pyramid on earth.
Hiding under the grass, trees and many tons of earth, sits the once lost, and now found, Great Pyramid of Cholula.
With a base four times the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza, just how did this amazing monument get lost to time? Also, why isn’t more heard regarding this enormous structure within modern academia?
It sits just outside Puebla, the fourth largest city in modern day Mexico.
It is 450 meters wide, and 66 meters tall, with a floor area comparable in size to nine Olympic sized swimming pools.
Not only is this structure the largest pyramid on earth, but it is also Officially and undeniably Deemed the largest monument ever built on our planet.
In 1519, Hernan Cortez a Spanish invader, had his men march into the great Aztec city of Cholulu, they subsequently massacred 10 percent of the population, and built a tiny church on top of the hill as a symbol of their conquest.
the church they built, is now known as the oldest continuously occupied building in North America.
Historical record suggests that when Cortez arrived in Cholula, the pyramid was many thousands of years old, and already entirely overgrown by vegetation.
Additional legends state that the great pyramid was so sacred to the Cholula people, that they covered it with soil in order to hide it from Cortez’s army, we may never know how it became buried under the sediment it now rests beneath.
Experts believe the pyramid grew in stages, successive civilizations improving on what had already been built.
When an old pathway was removed in 2013 to make access for a drainage system, workers reportedly uncovered at least 63 complete and very ancient skeletons, some these remains accompanied by numerous alien looking skulls, absent their skeletons.
Ancient myths from the region told of giants building the structure, with the city's inhabitants being of normal size.From the 1930s until today, great efforts have been made to fully excavate the pyramid, although these excavations rarely gain any media attention, regardless of the pyramids enormous size and possible importance, over five miles of tunnels have been dug inside the structure, all open to the public if you can get in them, as locals have reportedly reclaimed the pyramid as their own.
Even though extensive exploratory research has been undertaken, the age or indeed the possible builders remain an elusive mystery.
Just what type of tombs could still be buried beneath the largest officially classified pyramid on earth?
Were alien remains really found amongst the ruins? and if they were, why was the world kept in the dark regarding the results of this testing, official reports released at a much later date, concluded that they were the decapitated skulls of deformed children. this conclusion however, just raises more questions.
