MORE INFO ABOUT THE VIDEO ????

Spain is a complex country! It’s also a pretty easy going one. But there are certain things that you just don’t want to get wrong. And here they are!

11. Don’t go OTT on please and thank you.
In Spanish we just don’t use the words as much. We are more likely to work ‘please’ and ’thank you’ into the tone of how we speak, or by tweaking the words (such as adding “ito” to the end of a word).

10. Don’t put bread on your plate.
In Spain, you always leave your bread beside your plate on the table. It sites beside your cutlery, because it kind of is a piece of cutlery.

9. Don’t eat with your hand under the table.
I grew up with no elbows on the table. But here in Spain we also have the rule that you should have your hands above the table at all times. Because you might have a knife??

8. Don’t offer guests a beer at 5pm
Because we eat lunch and dinner later, beer o’clock is usually about 8pm… not 5pm.

7. Don’t help with the dishes after parties.
It’s just not something that’s done here. At the end of a party or dinner party, you might help tidy up slightly, but you don’t help do the dishes.

6. Don’t be a ‘pesado’ in social situations.
Chill out! Don’t ask people what their job is straight away when you meet them in a social setting and don’t expect people to cut to the chase when telling a story - we take our time here!

5. Don’t misinterpret loud conversations.
When Yoly speaks with her mother on the phone, it can get heated. But they’re not arguing - it’s just that conversations here often sound more intense.

4. Don’t generalise about Spain.
This is a highly regional country. So don’t assume that every region of Spain has the same language, customs or food.

3. Don’t call Catalan a dialect of Spanish.
Catalan is its own language - and don’t get that wrong (especially when speaking to a Catalan)

2. Don’t used ‘usted’ willy nilly.
Here in Spain we’re pretty informal and so don’t use “usted” unless we’re speaking with older people or in very formal situations.

1. Don’t mention the civil war casually.
The Spanish civil war and the dictatorship is a really complex topic, and still an open wound in Spain. So wait until you know someone pretty well before diving into the topic.

WHO ARE WE? ????

????Terrassa????

Terrasa or Terrace (in Catalan : Terrace , pronounced [tərasə] ) is a municipality and city Spanish of Barcelona , in Catalonia . It is, along with Sabadell , the capital of the region of the Vallès Occidental , in addition to being the fourth most populous city in Catalonia.

Terrace is located at the foot of the Catalan Prelitoral Mountains ( Natural Park of Sant Llorenç de Munt i l'Obac ) at 286 meters above sea level and 41º33'40 north latitude, and 2º0'29 east longitude. 28 km from Barcelona and 20 from Montserrat.

The vestiges found indicate that the area in which Terrasa sits has been inhabited since prehistory . In 2005, during the excavation work of one of the city's railway lines , archaeological remains with stone tools and animal fossils dated between 700,000 and 900,000 years old were found, making it one of the few with remains of the first settlers of Europe.

Heiress of the ancient Roman Egara, an episcopal see in the 5th century , it preserves an important medieval heritage in which the monumental set of the Romanesque-Visigothic churches of Sant Pere, Sant Miquel and Santa María stands out. Other important medieval vestiges are the Carthusian castle of Vallparadís (now a municipal museum) and the Palau tower . In the nineteenth century the city was protagonist of the industrial revolution , specializing the wool fabric, the importance have been achieved are the result modernist buildings as Masia Freixa (current music conservatory), the Aymerich Amat i Jover (Current Science Museum and the Technique of Catalonia), the Teatro Principal, the Mercado de la Independencia , the town hall or the Alegre de Sagrera house-museum.

????Masia Freixa????

The Masia Freixa (in Catalan : Masia Freixa ) is a building modernist city of Terrassa found in the park of Saint George, old gardens and adjacent land on the farm, in the neighborhood of Ca n'Aurell. Built in 1896 , it was originally intended as a spinning mill and was renovated between 1907 and 1914 by Lluís Muncunill i Parellada , who transformed it into the family residence of the textile industrialist Josep Freixa. The architect made it one of the jewels of the city's modernism, with its structure of arches and vaults inspired by Gaudí.and the walls painted white, from which a tall tower protrudes.

For many years he sheltered the Municipal Conservatory of Music, which was moved to a newly built building on the University Campus, in the neighborhood of the Old Cemetery. Today it houses the offices of the Ombudsman and the Tourist Office of the City Council, in addition to the headquarters of the Industrial Tourism Network of Catalonia.
