Santa Cruz de Tenerife, commonly abbreviated as Santa Cruz , is a major city, capital of the island of Tenerife, Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and capital (jointly with Las Palmas) of the Canary Islands. The Canary Islands are located off the west coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean and Santa Cruz de Tenerife is it's joint capital! The city is the center of maritime industry and tourism and with sub tropical temperatures round the year, its easy to fall in love with this place.
Besides opting for one of the several low-cost airlines which serve the islands, you can also cruise your way here by taking a ferry from mainland Europe. Once arrived at the docks, it's a quick 5 minute walk to the center, which is also known as Plaza de Espana!
The plaza's location on the seafront makes it a good meeting place and a great starting point when exploring the city. The Plaza de Espana is a mega photo point for all the visiting tourists. There are several monuments here with the most distinctive being the memorial dedicated to the 39 residents of the island who fought and died on Franco's side in the Civil War in the 1930s.
As you can see, the center is so close to the marina and the ferry port that you can actually see the ships from here! Another nice thing about the city is that it's very WiFi friendly! In fact, the center is actually a free wifi zone set up by the town hall and I was told that on hot days, you'd often see locals and tourists alike sitting at a square with their feet dipped in water and tapping away on their smartphone screen for hours!
I really liked this location! It was also very close to the main shopping streets with several cafes and restaurants alongside.
The Market of Nuestra Señora de Africa - best place to buy the most fresh produce from this island for example bananas, tomatoes, papayas, cheese and so on. We'll go after exploring the walking street!
About the walking street, speaking to some locals I found out that this street has some really high end expensive shops and they're mostly aiming at the tourists i.e. the locals mostly come here for window shopping or for a casual stroll but not really for actual shopping. I think this is the same for most of the walking streets world wide! The locals are smart and they know better!
Anyway, did you know that Tenerife is home to more than one million people? Yeah, that's right. In fact, nearly half of the residents of Tenerife live in this city. For me this was hard to imagine because I hardly saw any people when traveling around the island away from the center!
It's a small island, travel time is less and there are excellent bus services to other parts of the island! So I think a lot can be done within a short time period! Also, I think 1 day is more than enough to explore Santa Cruz, what do you say?

Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife | One of the World’s First Tourist Destinations
Monika and I headed off on the Triumph Bonneville to one of the classiest towns in Tenerife, and the original tourist destination in the Canary Islands; Puerto de la Cruz. The north of Tenerife
With it’s pretty architecture, cobbled streets, coffee shops, shops, restaurants and bustling vibe, it’s got a fantastic atmosphere and is very different to the touristy south of the island.
Motorcycle parking is very easy and free everywhere, so you can ride into the heart of the city and you’ll find a motorbike parking bay. If you’re travelling by car, you will almost certainly need to use one of the car parks (very centrally located).
The north of Tenerife is much more lush and there is a strong digital nomad community in towns such as Puerto de la Cruz, La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Not only is this a good winter sun destination, but it’s also I very good city break destination and would work for a three/four day trip from mainland Europe.
If you travel to Tenerife, I really recommend exploring Puerto de la Cruz. Most people tend to stay in the warmer south- places such as Costa Adeje, but this is a really nice place to spend a day or two.
Out of all of the more popular Canary Islands such as Gran Canaria, Fuerta Ventura, La Palma and Lanzarote, the town of Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife was the first tourist destination.

Tequeste Town On Tenerife - Gorge Walk Before Christmas 2019
When we visited Tegueste for the first time on that sunny late afternoon, we instantly fell in love with this landlocked little town. We instantly talked about how we could see ourselves living here , at this part of Tenerife.
When we arrived at the town square there was a tent set up for some Christmas celebrations and some were even dressed in traditional clothing from Tenerife.
Right before the sun was starting to set, we went on a small hike along the gorge of Tegueste, spoiling us with amazing views over the town, the Teide and some amazing looking plants.

A quick guide to some of the things to do and attractions in the Lanzarote resort of Costa Teguise.
Costa Teguise is a great family resort or suitable for those who enjoy a relaxing holiday without too many loud bars, it has become a favourite of mine so much so I've stayed there more times than any other resort in the Canaries. It has great beaches, fairly close to the airport and central on the island meaning that you aren't too far from all the other attractions outside of the resort. This video however is all about the places to visit in Costa Teguise itself.

Today I invite you to a beautiful city walk in Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife in the Canary Islands in Spain.
Puerto de la Cruz is a centuries-old city with a rich history. It differs from neighboring resorts mainly in the fact that Puerto de la Cruz was not created for tourists. A lot of locals live here, so you have the opportunity to learn more about the life of the local population and get acquainted with their culture.
What to do in Puerto de la Cruz?
➡️Swim in the pools of Martianez
➡️Walk along the coast on both sides of the city
➡️Swim on the hardin black volcanic sand beach designed by Cesar Manriki.
➡️Go to the botanical garden.
➡️View the Stone Mother statue in Santa Ursula.
➡️See killer whales in Loro Parque.
Puerto de la Cruz has the atmosphere of a real Canarian city.

Is Santa Cruz de Tenerife Worth Visiting? (Exploring the Canary Islands' second-largest city) ????????
I wrapped up my visit to Tenerife with a day of sightseeing in the island's urban capital of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This city of a quarter-million people is a world away from the stale resort vibes of the island's south coast. Here, you'll find one of Spain's most vibrant and appealing urban centers, with verdant parks teeming with tropical plants, handsome fountains, and a laid-back seaside vibe.
From Santa Cruz, I booked a ticket on the fast ferry to the neighboring island of Gran Canaria. The 80-minute, 57 mile journey provided excellent views of the rugged north coast of Gran Canaria. From the port, it was a short 30 minute bus ride to Las Palmas, the largest city in the Canary Islands.

Things to do in Punta del Hidalgo! My TOP 5 Attractions from the fisher Village! Punta del Hidalgo is a small coastal village with beautiful natural swimming pools. It is located in the extreme north of Tenerife, Spain.
Located at the edge of the Anaga mountain range. Far from the touristic South, the gloomy sketch of the North didn’t stop the fishing village to attracts his own type of tourist, hikers and surfers.
Punta del Hidalgo is part of the municipality “La Laguna” a university town about 15 km away and the next village is Bajamar. You can find some restaurants (many very good seafood restaurants), some bars and shops. Who comes here will fall in love with Tenerife North and his amazing mountains!

Tenerife is one of the 7 canary islands just in front of Africa! I is also the largest canary island! It belongs to Spain and is one of the most beautiful islands I have ever been. She is an Island so full of different things to explore that one day is not enough. From the beautiful beaches in the south, ghost towns, the volcano Mt. Tide, which is the highest mountain above sea level in all of the islands in the Atlantic ocean, the Spanish villages with all their cute restaurants and cafés to the amazing hikes in the north of the island. We stayed in Punta del Hidalgo for 4 weeks.
