Cave of the Seven Sleepers (Ashab-e-Kahf) - Tarsus, Turkey - The Cave from Surah Kahf in the Quran
Today I take you to the Cave of the Seven Sleepers, known as Ashab-e-Kahf, or Eshab-e-Kehf). The story of this cave is mentioned in the Holy Quran in Chapter 18 Surah Al-Kahf (The Cave) where seven sleepers and their dog (the exact number is only known by Allah Azawajjal) slept in the cave for 300 years or 309 years (depending on the solar or lunar calendar) to protect their faith. They woke up after being asleep for centuries and went to buy food using their coins from 300 years ago. As Muslims, we are instructed to recite Surah Kahf once a week, and therefore it was remarkable to actually visit this holy site. The Cave of the Seven Sleepers is found in the city of Tarsus, in Mersin, Turkey. I decided to visit this Cave after my spiritual guide Sheikh Mehmet Adil (son of Mawlana Sheikh Nazim al Haqqani) recently visited Eshab-e-Kehf here in Tarsus.
There are other areas where this cave is believed to be, including in Amman Jordan (which I visited in 2016), as well as in Ephesus Turkey. But it was certainly a very special feeling when I came to this cave in Tarsus, which is one of the possible locations of the Cave, especially when there was a dog waiting just outside (just like mentioned in the holy Quran).

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM GÜLEK CASTLE? Gülek Castle is a medieval castle in Mersin Province, Turkey. You can never see a castle here because it was ruined already, but you can still see some remaining like the entry gate. This is the best place to take your instagramable photo here in Tarsus, Mersin Province Turkey, but a few hundred meters away you can see Adana. If you are living in Tarsus it is just 30 to 40 minutes away, and if you are living in Adana City, it is 1 to 1 and a half hour away. In this video, we continue the series by visiting the ancient sites in the Turkish town of Bergama. We explore the steep, mountaintop ruins of Pergamon and are amazing by antiquities' steepest Amphitheater, the Acropolis, and the remains of the Great Pergamon alter, or the Bible's Seat of Satan. Next we visit the Red Hall Basicilca, wich features an impressive idol to Egyption gods, and some gruesome Christian history. We wrap the day in Bergama up with a visit to the Asclepieion, a temple and school for history's most famous physicians.

A Quick Tarsus Travel Guide | Tarsus, Turkey 2019 ????????
This is a short video going over my day trip from Mersin, Turkey to Tarsus, Turkey in January of 2019. During this trip I visited many biblical sites in Tarsus like the Seven Sleepers Cave and the Church of Saint Paul. I tried some of the famous Tarsus Hummus, took in the amazing 15th century architecture at Siptilli Carsisi (Siptilli Bazaar) and enjoyed a walk down the street of Old Tarsus.

Kur'an'ın Kehf Suresinde geçen Ashab-ı Kehf (Yedi Uyurlar)ın kaldığı mağaranın Tarsus'ta olduğuna inanılır. Yeni Ahit'in yazarlarından biri olan Pavlus da Tarsus doğumludur. Bu sebeple Hristiyanlarca da hac yeri olarak kabul edilmektedir. Kudüs'teki Kıyamet Kilisesi'nden sonraki en kutsal kilise olan Aziz Pavlus Kilisesi ve Aziz Pavlus Kuyusu Tarsus'ta bulunmaktadır. Bunların yanı sıra dünyanın ilk kanalizasyonlu Tarihi Roma Yolu, Roma hamamı da Tarsus'tadır. Kleopatra Kapısı da şehrin en eski kalıntıları arasındadır. 10 km kuzeybatısındaki Taşkuyu mağarası, Şelalesi ve özellikle Tarsus Barajı gezip görülesi yerlerden olup turizm açısından mükemmel bir tarihe ve de doğal güzelliklere sahiptir.

It has a very rich history and is an important city in terms of some religious beliefs. It is believed that the cave in which the Ashab-ı Kehf (Seven Sleepers), mentioned in Surah Al-Kahf of the Quran, were in Tarsus. Paul, one of the authors of the New Testament, was also born in Tarsus. For this reason, it is accepted as a place of pilgrimage by Christians. St. Paul's Church and St. Paul's Well, which is the second most sacred church after the Resurrection Church in Jerusalem, are located in Tarsus. In addition to these, the first historical Roman Road with sewer in the world, the Roman bath is also in Tarsus. Cleopatra Gate is also among the oldest ruins of the city.
