Perhaps the most noticeable (and beautiful) thing about the culture of Burma (Myanmar) is the white/yellow paste on people's faces -- mostly women and children -- and it's seen everywhere!
This magical stuff is called THANAKA and it's been around in Burmese culture for over 2,000 years. It's essentially a natural paste that is derived from a very specific tree bark, and it really enhances the beauty of the people here!
Have you ever heard of thanaka before? This is one of the MANY reasons why you should add Myanmar to the top of your bucket list -- this country is truly amazing inside and out! ????????????????

????????CRAB CURRY: Pour coconut milk onto the cut crabs, then add liquid salt, tamarind juice, Jaffna curry powder, chopped onions, curry leaves, and ginger-garlic paste. Put the pot on the fire and cook for 20 minutes. Mix the curry. Add more coconut milk. Cook for 15 minutes.
????????STIR-FRIED CUTTLEFISH: Place fenugreek and fennel seeds in hot coconut oil. Add garlic and mix. Add curry leaves, chopped onions, liquid salt, and green chilies and put into the pot. Keep mixing. Place the cuttlefishes in and add salt liquid, ginger- garlic paste. Mix and close the lid. Add Jaffna curry powder and tamarind juice. Mix and allow it to cook for 15 minutes.
????????RAAL SODI (SHRIMP CURRY SOUP): Pour coconut milk into a pot with chopped onions, green chilies, salt liquid, and turmeric powder. Squeeze chopped tomatoes and put them into the pot with lime juice. Place the pot on the fire and then put shrimp into the pot. Cook for 15 minutes.
????????STRING HOPPER: Add hot water to liquid salt and pour into rice flour. Mix well. Place the dough into a string hopper maker. Stack the hoppers into a steam pot for 5 minutes.

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are a few nations that I just simply didn't enjoy.
The country of BRUNEI is one of them.
I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I felt like this video needed to be shared with the world.

After 10 years, I have returned to the country that I enjoyed THE LEAST in all of my travels… Brunei. It’s a tiny country on Borneo island, sandwiched in between Malaysia and Indonesia, and I was very nervous to go back. Why? Because my last video there was all about how much I hated it, and I was so worried that I would be thrown in jail by the government, or even yelled at by the locals…. But this time around, I went in with fresh eyes and a new perspective, and I really enjoyed it!!!
I met up with a local Bruneian friend from Instagram named Bryant, and he took me under his wing to show me his version of Brunei. And what we discovered will seriously blow your mind!!

I visited the capital city of Pyongyang in April 2017, way back when I first got my hands on a video camera, and luckily I was able to document it.
